And we begin with Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano. It's putting on a spectacular show scientists say hasn't happened in nearly 40 years.
The volcano has been shooting lava hundreds of feet into the air over and over with only brief pauses between eruptions.
Scientists call this phenomenon rapid rebound, and it occurs when magma quickly refills the magma chamber beneath the volcano after one eruption, causing another in rapid succession.
So far, there have been 19 eruptive episodes in 4 months.
There's no danger to residents as Kilauea is far from residential areas, but people downwind are being urged to mask up to protect themselves from ash and volcanic gases.
Newark Airport in New Jersey is one of the busiest in the country, a known choke point for flights and often plagued by delays.
Now, the problem is so bad United Airlines is cutting 35 flights a day from its schedule and actually encouraging passengers to consider other airports.
But it's not just United.
As of 1 .30 yesterday afternoon, 265 flights had been delayed and 151 were canceled.
On top of its usual problems, Newark has been hit with equipment failures and, along with many other airports, a shortage of air traffic controllers.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy is promising new tech upgrades for all U .S. airports, but says it'll take three to four years to complete.
First there was purple which we recently found out is a color that doesn't really exist. Now there's a hue that only five people have ever seen.
A collaboration between teams at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington have produced olo, a cross between blue and green that's much more intense than anything in the real world and has been described by those who saw it as mind blowing.
The researchers created the color by firing laser pulses into the eyes of the participants, stimulating cones there that see colors.
But it's not an experiment to try at home.
Looking into a laser is very dangerous, and these experiments were carefully monitored by experts.
The idea is to understand how the brain processes color signals so that maybe someday people with color blindness might experience normal vision.
Roger Clemens, a Red Sox legend who pitched 13 seasons in Boston, was a proud papa this Saturday, as his son, Kody, hit a two -run homer at his dad's old stomping grounds.
Kody plays for the Minnesota Twins and this was his first time facing Fenway's famous green monster.
His long ball helped propel his team to a 4 -3 win over the Red Sox.
Roger, an 11 -time All -Star and seven -time Cy Young Award winner, hit 13 career home runs, but none of them at Fenway.
Just think about it.
I put myself in his shoes.
Even though he's my kid, he's here at Fenway, and he obviously wants to perform well.
Hitting a home run would be the ultimate thing to do.
And he goes up there in a clutch situation and does it.
Just a great moment, and I'm glad we're here.
As we mention at the top of the podcast, US, today is a day for your teachers.
May 6 is National Teacher Appreciation Day, a day that shows recognition to educators everywhere who impact our lives and help us become who we are.
The roots of National Teacher Appreciation Day go back to 1953, when former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st U .S. Congress to proclaim a National Teachers Day to honor educators.
You can do your part by refilling classroom supplies, volunteering in the office, or using the hashtag teacher appreciation day or national teachers day to post on social media naming a favorite teacher.
Still to come a bear with a sweet tooth stops by a California ice cream shop for a little treat.
But first, today's Kid News Quiz.
What state is currently witnessing a rare phenomenon of rapidly repeating volcanic eruption.
Hawaii. The new color that only five people have seen was a mind -blowing cross between what two conventional hues.

What special day is today?
National Teacher Appreciation Day.
In today's Kid News Kicker, a store owner at Lake Tahoe in Northern California says she was robbed of three gallons of ice cream by a bear.
The furry felon entered through the back door while the owner was distracted, opened the freezer and made off with a whole three gallon tub of chaka -chip cookie dough.
She says the bear was both quick and neat in his heist and didn't make a mess.
He left the empty container on the other side of a fence and appeared to be coming back for seconds when she scared him off.
The bear, named Cinnamon, is well known in the area.
Before we go, shoutouts for some of our much appreciated teachers, Miss Harris and her fifth grade cubs, who want you to know they love K -pop group TXT at Camino Real in Arrupa Valley, California.
