And we begin with a bell -to -bell cell phone ban coming to every public school in New York state.
Starting this September, students will have to ditch their devices from arrival to dismissal, and that includes lunch and free periods.
Think you'll get away with a wearable?
Nope, the crackdown also includes smartwatches.
In fact, the only exception will be for kids who need a phone to manage a medical condition or for translation.
Mobiles that don't have internet so -called dumb phones will still be allowed. And while New York is now the biggest state to enact an all -day ban, it's not the first. Virginia already has one on the books.
Arkansas will introduce its ban in the fall and several other states like Florida, Utah, Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma are actively considering it.
A hiker in Japan might want to take a look at his own cell phone addiction.
After being rescued from near the 12 ,388 foot summit of Mount Fuji last week, the unidentified man had to be airlifted off a second time, just days later, when he went back up to retrieve his device.
Both times the hiker got hit with altitude sickness, which is characterized by dizziness, nausea, and confusion brought on by the lack of oxygen that high in the sky.
Lucky for him, another hiker found him on his phone retrieval mission and called rescuers to airlift him off again.
The mountain's hiking trails are officially open only from July to early September.
There's no charge when a climber hikes out of season or needs to be rescued, but the student's case prompted an uproar on social media with calls for him to pay up, at least for his second rescue.
Those creepy crawlies with a sound as loud as a jet engine are now making their way above ground.
The first cicadas to punch through the dirt of their 17 -year slumber were in Fayette County, Tennessee, and Buncombe County, North Carolina, over the weekend according to the citizen science site Cicada Safari.
As soil temperatures reach 64 degrees more and more will emerge.
Eventually millions of the surprisingly loud but entirely harmless bugs will coat trees, cars and sidewalks in Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Enjoy the phenomenon if you can.
This will be the last big brood to surface in the U .S. until 2028.
Cicadas are found on every continent except Antarctica.
Turning an aircraft carrier shouldn't be rushed.
Just ask the American pilot whose $70 million fighter jet ended up at the bottom of the Red Sea.
According to government sources.
The F -A -18E Super Hornet was being towed out of its hanger on board the U -S -S Harry Truman Monday when the carrier suddenly changed direction.
The tractor pulling it lost control and both the tractor and plane rolled over the side and sank.
Luckily the driver and the pilot jumped free before their rides went overboard. It's still unclear if a hard turn caused the mishap.
The and a half acres and can carry as many as 85 strike fighters.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has a brand new class of hitmakers making the cut in 2025 Chubby Checker, Cindy Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, White Stripes, and Bad Company, snubbed for the second year in a row Mariah Carey and Oasis.
The Black Crows, Billy Idol and Fish, which notably won the fan vote, will also have to wait a little longer.
According to a Hall of Fame press release, the inductees are determined by an international voting panel made up of more than 1 ,200 artists, historians and music industry professionals.
Still to come, getting picked last isn't always a bad thing.

Those were the grateful words of the football player chosen dead last in this year's NFL draft. The New England Patriots gave the title and honor to Memphis cornerback Kobe Minor with the number 257 overall pick of the seventh round on Saturday.
Most last picks don't see wild success, with the exception of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, who just two years later became the first Mr. Irrelevant to start in the Super Bowl.
Kobe's whirlwind introduction to the NFL is already underway.
According to the Detroit Free Press, he'll spend a week in Newport Beach, California, visit Disneyland, play in a golf tournament and be the subject of a Roast, where he'll be with the Lowesman Trophy which is modeled after the Highsman Trophy but features a player fumbling the ball.
Thanks again to the Espinoza family of Lithia, Florida for sponsoring today's quiz and shout outs to Matthew who turns 12 today and Andrew who hits the double digits on Friday.
