Good morning and welcome to Kid News.
I'm Kim. Today is Thursday, November 14, 2024.
And we begin with the naming battle between two of California's busiest airports coming to a head.
A judge has ordered Oakland International Airport to temporarily stop using San Francisco Bay in its new name, the latest twist in a dispute with San Francisco International.
The two cities have been at odds since April, when the Port of Oakland announced it was changing its name to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport in an effort to boost airport traffic, as many out -of -town travelers are unaware of Oakland's close proximity to the rest of the Bay Area.
Days later, San Francisco's city attorney sued, arguing the name infringes on the San Francisco International trademark and causes confusion.
According to CBS News, SFO's airport director said they are grateful for the decision, but Port of Oakland officials say they are reviewing the ruling and considering all options.
What could have been awkward turned into a masterclass in civility.
Yesterday, President Biden welcomed his successor, President -elect Donald Trump, to the White House for their first face -to -face meeting since the election.
At least for the cameras, the two shook hands like old friends rather than bitter rivals, with each pledging to make the transition of power a peaceful one.
Mr. Biden told Mr. Trump his team would do everything it can to make sure he's accommodated.
The incoming president also put the divisiveness of the race behind, saying, politics is tough and in many cases it's not a very nice world, but it's a nice world today.
It's not even winter, but people in the western U .S.

While that may bode well for a white Christmas, don't get out the sleds just yet.
The Washington Post reports that most of the country can expect less snow this winter than usual.
Global forecasters point to temperature fluctuations in the Pacific and an ongoing marine heat wave off the coast of Japan for their low snow prediction.
Climatologists blame the two trillion tons of greenhouse gases added to the atmosphere over the past 60 years and a worldwide temperature increase of about 2 .1 degrees Fahrenheit since 1850.
One climatologist told the Post, as you warm temperatures up, you're just going to get less snow.
There's a lot of snow.
You know the holidays are approaching when Jason Kelsey and Stevie Nicks sing together.
Wait, what? Yep, you heard that right.
Retired Philadelphia Eagle star Jason Kelsey and Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks are taking Christmas music to new heights.

Singing is not new to Kelsey.
For the past couple of years, he's released holiday albums with two teammates, calling themselves the Philly Specials.

Offensive lineman Mike Kadick says he was a ballet dancer, figure skater and gymnast as a child.
His mom Mary Beth told the Big Ten Network Mike always wanted to do what his older sister was doing, so they let him.
At age six, his dad got him to play football and the rest is history.
Mike says one of his best college memories was beating Penn State, a school in his home state of Pennsylvania.
He says he loves playing on the offensive line because similar to dance, it involves good footwork in the player's gel, adding its poetry in motion and I love it.
