Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
You and me everyday.
Come on. Let's master English.
Hello everybody welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, the Podcast. Thank you so much for listening to my Podcast. I want to hear from you.
I want to hear a message from you and I'll tell you how to leave me a message.
at the end of today's podcast. Today's expression, oh it's a good one.
I'm all tied up. Uh -huh, I'm all tied up.
Uh -huh. Uh -huh. Oh yeah, I'm all tied up.
It sounds like an old Elvis song, but no. I'm all tied up.
That means I'm busy.
I'm very, very, very, very, very busy.
I am, I'm, all, A -L -L.
It means completely, I'm completely, tied up.
That's a phrasal verb, T -I -E -D, tied up.
In this case it's a past participle like an adjective, I am busy, I am all tied up.
So, why do we say tied up?
Well, imagine that your hands are tied to your desk, to your computer, and you must keep working, keep working, keep working.
I'm all tied up. That's the idea.
You are a slave to your work.
You're all tied up.
Now, many of you know, I teach a lot of English classes online, and we've got the podcasts.
We now have three podcasts, isn't that amazing?
We've got the videos, the free videos, Coach in ZSL, Daily Easy English.
What else do we have?
We have the pronunciation channel, the daily dictation channel, the Korean channel, and then we have the DDM classes and the perfect English classes.
So basically I'm working every day.
Yeah, the only day that is somewhat relaxed is Monday.
So on Monday I'm not all tied up, but on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Next weekend, oh my goodness, I will be completely tied up.
What about you? What is your busy day?
What is your busiest time of the week?
For me, without a doubt, Fridays.
Fridays are my busiest time of the week.
On Fridays, I don't have time for anything.
I'm all tied up. Let's check out the dialog.
Can you come to my little party on Friday?
I'm sorry John, I'm tied up this weekend.
But you have to come!
John, I told you! I'm getting married on Saturday.
Oh boy. For some reason I think John likes that woman.
Yes, that was a woman.
That was John talking to a woman.
The woman's name? Yes, she does have a name.
Her name is Shanette.
And Shanette is busy this weekend.
She's getting married.
Yeah, that's a pretty good excuse.
She's tied up this weekend.
She's getting married.
John, obviously, is not that busy.
So once again, I want you to think about it and tell me when is your busiest time of the week the busiest day of the week, which day of the week are you all tied up?
Leave me a message I'll tell you how after you listen to that short dialogue two more times Can you come to my little party on Friday?
I'm sorry John. I'm tied up this weekend But you have to come.
