Hello everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
You and me every day.
Come on. Let's master English.
Hello everybody welcome back to daily easy English expression.
Today's podcast is brought to you by Perfect English, the best speaking class online.
I will give you more information at the end of the podcast. Today's expression is, I'm in deep doo doo.
Woo, I'm in deep doo doo.
I am in deep, D -E -E -P, doo doo.
D -O -O, D -O -O. And we can make it two words.
We can make it one word, D -O -O, dash D -O -O.
And we can just put it together, D -O -O, D -O -O, I'm in deep doo doo.
Deep, you know, that's like deep water.
Deep, the opposite of deep would be shallow.
S -H -A -L -L -O -W. Doo -doo is another word for poo -poo.
Or kaka. Or dung. Or poop.
Scientists and doctors like to say feasts.
F .E .C .S, F .E .C .E .S.
And of course, many people around the world just say the word shit.
S -H -I -T. But that is actually not a good word. So I prefer you not use S -H -I -T.
Just if you're talking about going to the bathroom, just say, I need to go to the bathroom.
If you're talking about a child, we can say poopoo or poop.
That's common for a child.
If we're talking about a bird, who's flying above you, and...
We can say poop. If we're talking about a cow, we say dung, D -U -N -G.
For a dog or a cat we also say poopoo or P -O -O -P.
But what about this expression?
I'm in deep du du. I'm in deep shit.
What does that mean?
This is a great expression and it means I'm in serious trouble.
Oh my god. Imagine, everybody, if you're walking down the street and suddenly you step into a hole, and in the hole it's full of doo -doo and you're standing deep in the doo -doo.
Is that a good situation?
No, it's a terrible situation.
So if you are in trouble, you can say, I'm in deep doo -doo.
Let's check out the dialog.
So John, did you finish?
Finish what? The proposal, it's due in 10 minutes.
Oh my god, I didn't even start!
Oh, you are in deep doo -doo.
Yep, John is in deep doo -doo.
He's supposed to be finished with his proposal in 10 minutes and he did not even start.
John might lose his job.
Oh poor John. John, I hope you're fast. I hope you are fast. You know, sometimes we are all in deep doo -doo.
It happens to everybody.
We forget something, we do something wrong, we make a mistake, we, you know, maybe you're driving and you drive too fast or you're trying to park your car and you hit another car.
Oh boy, it's expensive.
You, you, you spend all your money, you don't know what to do.
You're in deep doo -doo.
It happens! Can you tell me the last time you were in deep doo doo?
I want to know. I want to know.
And by the way, can you use this expression at the office?
Yes. But once again, use it with people of the same age or the same position.
I guess if you're the boss, you could say to your employee, if you don't finish the work by five o 'clock you're in deep doo -doo.
That's okay, but if you're the employee don't tell the boss that he might be in deep doo -doo.
No, that's not a good idea.
Okay, so keep it to your level your age people or below.
Alright. Right, let's check that dialogue out two more times.
So, John, did you finish?
Finish what? The proposal.
It's due in ten minutes.
Oh my God! I didn't even start.
You are in deep doo doo.
So, John, did you finish?
Finish what? The proposal.
It's due in ten minutes.
Oh, my God. I didn't even start.
Oh, you are in deep doo -doo.
Today's podcast is brought to you by Perfect English.
This is my brand new speaking class.
Yep. Now, I'm a listening and pronunciation and speaking coach. Many of you have heard of DDM?
And that's where I focus on listening and pronunciation skills, and also American culture.
And finally, I'm getting ready to start my speaking class.
But actually, I'm still testing it.
I'm still playing with it.
And I would love to get your opinion, your feedback.
So I'm offering a lesson for free to everybody isn't that cool?
Yeah, I might you know if I'm feeling good.
Maybe I'll give you two or three lessons.
Yeah You just send me an email.
Okay send me an email my email address daily dictation members at gmail .com in the subject line please write P.
I. R. F. Okay? Please add that.
P. I. R. F. In the subject line of the email.
Now what is P. I. R.
F? Well, that's the name of the class.
The name of the speaking class is Perfect English.
Not P. E. R. F. E. C.
T., but P. I. R. F.
E. C. T. E -C -T and P -I -R -F are big letters E -C -T, small letters Why did I change the spelling of perfect?
Because P -I -R -F stands for something, it means something P, pronunciation I'll be teaching standard American pronunciation in this speaking class I, intonation, which words should you stress?
Where does the accent go?
That's the I, the intonation.
I'll be teaching that.
Our, rhythm, how to group words together.
Sometimes we say many words together.
Then we pause. Then we say many words.
how to do that, how to find the rhythm in English.
And finally, F, flow, the speed.
How fast should you say something?
How slow should you say something?
That is what I teach in perfect English.
So once again, I've done two lessons and I'm in the middle of my third lesson.
and right now it's September 15th, 2014.
So I'm in the middle of my third lesson and I'm still testing it.
So I would love to send you the lesson.
Like I said, maybe all three, maybe I'll give you all the lessons.
But if I do that, please tell me what you like, please tell me what you don't like.
I wanna make this class as great a class for as many people as possible.
so tell me I need your feedback.
Okay, and yes, by the way, in the future, probably at the beginning of October, the end of September, the beginning of October 2014, or maybe sometime in October, I will officially start this class and you will have to pay money, but I promise it will be very inexpensive And actually, if you have an opinion on how much this class should be, please tell me that.
Right now, I'm thinking four lessons every month, one lesson a week, always different.
And the style of speaking will be different too.
Sometimes the speaking will be like a narrator, like a news, like a speech. Sometimes it will be conversation.
Sometimes it will be interview.
you whatever, I'll try to change the style of speaking each week.
So it should be fun, so if you have an idea on what to do, if you have an idea on the cost, what I should charge, if you have opinions about the class, please let me know.
Okay, that's it. Thank you so much you guys.
You guys have a fantastic day and together let's master English.
