Today number 1119. Oh, it's such a good phrase.
So last time we studied the word pet peeve, do you remember the definition for pet in this case?
Pet peeve was something that you love to hate, okay?
But the idea of pet is like a pet dog or a pet cat.
And for most people who have a pet, they love their dog.
They love their cat. It's like a member of the family.
So the word pet has this meaning of love to it.
Now we also have a phrase pet name, P-E-T, and A-M-E, pet name.
Are you familiar with that phrase?
Check out the dialogue.
What's a good pet name? Cupcake, sugar, sweet pea, or a dog?
Oh, I thought you meant for your wife.
How about Rover? Yes, when we say the word pet name, it can refer to the name of your cat or dog.
So I have three cats and one dog.
One cat, her name is Minty.
Another cat, her name is tennis racket.
Yeah, I know it's weird.
The other cat, her name is baseball.
Yeah, weird names for cats.
My dog, his name is Moose, M-O-O-S-E.
So these are our pet names for our animals.
They are our pet names. But if you have a special name for your husband or your wife or your girlfriend or your boyfriend, well, that is also called, can be called, a pet name.
It's that cute little name that only you use to your wife or to your husband.
Girlfriend boyfriend.
So some examples we gave you, cupcake.
Yeah. Hey, cupcake. Hey, sugar, oh, sweet pea.
These are names you can call your husband or your wife.
Of course, darling, sweetheart, sweetie, baby, baby.
There are many, many, many, many possible pet names.
You can even have some kind of funny ones like cucumber or maybe not cucumber, but cute key or cute.
I don't know. Beer boy for me, I guess.
But bald man. But anyway, these are names that you can use for your husband or your wife.
You love them, right? I hope you love them.
And they're kind of like private names that generally only you use.
So it's really funny. I have a pet name for my wife, right?
No, I'm not going to tell you.
It's a secret. It's a pet name.
It's just between me and my wife.
But sometimes I call her that name.
And what's really funny is when my son Mikey repeats it.
He uses the pet name to my wife and we laugh.
He's like, no, you can't say that.
You have to call mommy, mommy.
You can't use that name.
That's only daddy's name for mommy.
So pet name, it's a really good expression.
Do you have a pet name for your loved one?
Now once again, not your children.
I guess it could be your children, but almost always it refers to your wife or your husband, your boyfriend, your girlfriend.
