Good morning and welcome to Kid News!
I'm Kim. Today is Friday, November 22nd, 2024.
And we begin with the first walk -off Grand Slam ball in World Series history heading to the auction block in December.
Experts predict Freddie Freeman's historic home run ball could easily top a million dollars.
But for 10 -year -old Dodgers fan Zachary Ruderman, that's just icing on the cake.
Zachary was sitting in the right field pavilion when Freeman, his favorite player, smashed the Game 1 winning homer into the stands.
Zachary got to it first, batted it to his dad for the final grab, then celebrated with cheers, high fives and selfie requests, even from Yankees fans.
The night was already a win for the young man, who thought he was leaving school early to get his braces off until his parents surprised him with World Series tickets instead.
Do dolphins get lonely?
Researchers believe they might after recording the unusual vocalizations of a lone dolphin in the Baltic Sea.
Biologists had originally installed underwater microphones to monitor how the presence of the solitary dolphin known as Delhi was affecting local harbor porpoises.
According to the study in the journal Bioacoustics, over the course of 69 days, even though he had no fellow dolphins to talk to, Delhi made over 10 ,000 sounds, including clicks and whistles normally heard in a pod or group.
As bottlenose dolphins are highly social animals, the study's author believes Delhi may have been mimicking the sounds of friends he didn't have nearby.
However, another marine biologist not involved in the study admits researchers have a long way to go to understand how dolphins communicate in the wild.
Could Google lose its grip on the internet?
The U .S. Department of Justice is asking a federal court to force Google to make some big changes to minimize the tech giant's dominance.
To allow for more competition, the government wants Google to offload its popular Chrome browser, which performs around 90 percent of online searches.
In addition, the government is targeting the company's Android phone division and how Google uses data from other companies' websites to train its own AI models.
These new moves come after a big court win earlier this year, when Google was found to have broken laws by using Chrome and its ad tools to block competitors.
The court's decision could set a major precedent for how tech companies operate in the future.
At just 17 years old, Sophia Park is raising the bar for young achievers.
The California teen is believed to be the youngest person ever to pass the state's notoriously tough bar exam, paving the way for her to become a practicing attorney.
A little more than half the people who took the exam alongside her in July passed the test.
Sophia enrolled in online law school when she was 13 years old and credits her family's support, lots of studying, and personal determination for her success.
While recognizing she missed out on typical teen activities like sports and going to the prom, Sophia does not regret her unusual path and says she's looking forward to using her legal skills to help others.
Fun fact, the previous youngest person to pass California's bar exam?
Sophia's older brother, Peter.
Think you can sing along to Wicked?
Not so fast. Unlike Taylor Swift's eras tour in Beyoncé's Renaissance movies, at least one theater chain, AMC, is banning singing and dancing during screenings of the long -awaited Wicked film, which hits theaters today.
Moviegoers will see a special 30 -second advisory featuring scenes from the film with the message that AMC Theater's silence is golden.
According to The New York Times, debates are already raging on TikTok and Reddit after singing broke out at advanced screenings this week, distracting some viewers.
Wicked dives into the untold story of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch, and Glinda, the Good Witch, before Dorothy dropped into Oz and features show -stopping performances from Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
But it's a musical journey you'll have to hum along to silently.

What Dodger player hit the World Series grand slam ball now heading to auction?
Freddie Freeman Why were biologists surprised to hear Deli the Dolphin making so many noises?

Google One theater chain is banning singing and dancing during what new movie out today?
Wicked And in our Kid News kicker, what's the most popular Thanksgiving pie in the U .S.?
According to a Newsweek report on a survey of 1 ,500 Americans in 37 states, pumpkin pie reigns supreme.
Why pumpkin? Lucy Long from the Center for Food and Culture believes the flavor's seasonality makes it special and evokes the feasting that goes along with this time of year.
In the Northeast, however, states like Maine, New York, and Massachusetts favor apple pie, while pecan pie is the top choice in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
It's a split decision in the southeast, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama, where both apple and pecan pies tie for first place.
