Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody, welcome back to Davey Easy English Expressions, the podcast.
This is number 187. Great expression today.
Hog heaven. Hog heaven.
You know what hog heaven means?
Hog H-O-G. H-O-G hog. A hog is a very large pig.
It's huge. And of course, heaven, H-E-A-V-E-N.
Well that's a very nice place to be.
We can use heaven in many different situations.
For example, oh this lake is fishing heaven.
This lake is excellent for fishing.
Or we could say oh boy, Indonesia is badminton heaven.
Oh everybody in Indonesia plays badminton.
If you like badminton, the sport, it's like tennis, right?
Or volleyball tennis combined.
Oh you got to go to Indonesia.
I know many other countries are excellent at badminton too.
China and other countries too.
I know, I know. Well we talk about China, oh China, it's food heaven baby.
So many delicious foods.
So such a huge variety, it's food heaven.
You can say that too. But this expression, hog heaven is an idiom.
So hog again means big pigs.
So hog heaven is that a place where there are many, many, many big pigs and they're very, very, very happy?
No, it's an idiom. It doesn't mean that.
I want you to listen to the dialogue and then I will explain.
How do you like living in the country?
Oh I'm in hog heaven. Really?
Oh I've got everything I want.
Fresh air, fresh water, a garden, animals, it's perfect.
That's true. Yeah for me, I love living in the country.
Yeah. Very happy where we are at my wife too.
I think my boys too. We are in hog heaven.
We are in hog heaven. Does that mean when I look outside, do I see lots of pigs?
No, there are no pigs. Right now if I look outside, I see my dog moose.
Okay, he's not a pig. He's a dog.
He's a nice dog. But no. So when we say I'm in hog heaven, it means I'm extremely, I'm in hog.
Really happy where I am or I'm extremely happy with what I have.
What I have is excellent.
It's perfect. I'm in hog heaven where I live, where I work, where I study.
It's perfect. I'm in hog heaven.
That's the expression.
It's a really nice expression actually.
And I hope that you perhaps are in hog heaven.
Actually, you know, it's funny.
