Today's expression is very useful.
When you do not know something, you can use this expression, beats me, beats me, B, E, A, T, S, M, E.
It beats me, you don't have to say it, you can just say beats me, beats me, it means I don't know.
Now, why does it mean I don't know?
Well, B -E -A -T. One meaning of beat is a drum beat.
Another meaning of beat is in sports.
My team beat your team.
My team won. My team defeated your team and that's the nuance in this situation it beats me I don't know I'm defeated by that question I don't know the answer this is the nuance so you can think of sports and losing if somebody asks you a question what does e equals mc squared mean ah beats me you feel defeated you feel like you lost because because you don't know the answer.
Got it? All right, let's check out a dialogue.
Is Pluto still considered a planet?
Uh, beats me. Well, in my book it is.
Yeah, mine too. Ah ha, Pluto.
Does everybody know Pluto?
Do you say Pluto, P -L -U -T -O?
Well, we're talking about the planets.
in space we've got the Sun, then there's Mercury, then Venus, then Earth, we are the third planet, then there's Mars and then Jupiter and then Saturn and then Uranus or some people will say Uranus, then there's Neptune and when I was young, we also had Pluto.
But nowadays, I understand that some scientists do not consider Pluto a planet.
Oh, that's too bad.
What happened to Pluto?
Well, in my book, in my opinion, we studied that expression the other day.
Pluto is still a planet.
So we have nine planets in our solar system But once again modern science says there are only eight planets Hmm.
What about you? What's your opinion?

Not I'm curious and I know once again science has their definition but anyway I'm not a scientist, but I still think of Pluto as a planet oh well let's check out the dialogue two more times is Pluto still considered a planet?
