Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody, welcome back to DailyEasyEnglishExpressions, the Budcast.
You know what, I've got something really exciting to share with you, but not today, but
I'll give you a hint.
These days I've been drinking something really cool.
You know, I like to be full of energy and I'm always looking for some food or some
vitamin, some supplement, something that will make me more energetic, that will help my
brain function better.
And I've got something new and it's fantastic.
I'm still drinking it.
It's a little tiny drink, but I'll tell you about that.
Be in the next podcast because I'm talking to the company, I love them so much and I'm
trying to work something out so we'll see what happens.
But that's really exciting for me.
Okay, and hopefully for you too, because I know you are probably the same as me.
You're tired, you're busy.
You don't have a lot of time.
You know, people are asking for so many things and you've got so many responsibilities.
24 hours is not enough in a day.
We need more.
And of course we don't have more.
Time is one thing we can't control.
But the quality of time we can control.
And this is something that, you know, I've been researching and working on and studying
and experimenting with for many, many years actually.
So I'm pretty excited.
Anyway, I'm sorry.
That's a really long introduction.
Today's expression number 1069 is, nubes.
When it comes to supplements, when it comes to energy drinks, when it comes to mental
health, I am not a nub.
Are you a nub?
Plural nubes.
What's a nub?
Let me spell it.
N-O-O-B-S.
A nub singular, n-O-O-B, is a person who is new, completely new to something.
And actually the person is called a nubie.
He's a nubie, n-e-w-b-i-e.
But the plural, we say, nubes and we spell n-O-O-B-S.
When I'm sure you can find a n-e-w-b-s, I have no idea, nubies or n-e-w-b-i-e-s, you
can probably find that spelling too.
But nubes is a great word.
And again, if somebody is a nub or nubes, those people or that person has no experience.
They're completely fresh.
They don't know anything.
Okay?
Let me get the idea of a nub.
Now you are listening to my e-cubed podcast.
Now if you're new, completely, if this is the first e-cubed podcast that you've heard,
well, then you are a nub.
But when it comes to your English level, if you're still listening right now and you
basically understand what I am saying, you are not a nub when it comes to English, but
you are a nub if this is your first e-cubed podcast.
Does that make sense?
I hope so.
Check out the dialogue.
Where have you been?
Training seminar.
You?
I thought you were an expert.
I am.
I was training nubes.
That's right, if you join a company, if you join any organization, if you join a club,
if you join a church the first time, you're a nub.
You don't know people.
You don't know how things kind of work.
You're new to the entire environment.
Okay?
Me, for example, I live in Vermont.
Okay?
But my entire life, I didn't live in Vermont.
I moved to Vermont a couple years ago.
Still, after we're going on three years, still I feel like a nub in Vermont.
If somebody says, oh, why don't you go to this town, I still have to go to the map and
find the town.
Local people, they know exactly where the town is.
They know how to go there, but me, because I'm a nub, I got to look it up on the map.
I do.
Yeah.
I do have a nub in any type of area, something that is completely new and you have no experience
in that area.
And again, plural, nubes.
And that's today's expression.
And I hope you enjoyed it.
