Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody, welcome back to DailyEasyEnglishExpressions.
The Budcast.
This is number 1057.
Today's expression is actually pretty funny.
Going Commando.
My boys love going commando.
I do not like them going commando.
I'm not happy with that actually.
So what does it mean going commando?
Well first of all let me spell it.
Going G-O-I-N-G.
Going commando C-O-M-M-M-A-N-D-O.
Going commando.
Going commando means not wearing underwear.
Not wearing underwear.
You might be wearing pants, but you're not wearing underwear.
And this applies to men and women and of course little boys and little girls.
In my opinion, you should always be wearing underwear.
There's only one time you can go commando and that is when you are wearing a swimming suit.
In my opinion, if you're going in a swimming suit then you don't need to wear underwear.
I understand.
But if you're wearing shorts, if you're wearing pants, if you're wearing a jogging outfit,
ladies if you're wearing a dress or a skirt.
Yeah, I strongly, strongly recommend that you do not go commando.
Gosh, I hope.
Yeah, anyway.
Can you imagine you have a friend who always goes commando.
Maybe you have a friend.
Maybe you always go commando.
And then you decide or your friend decides to go to the store to buy a new pair of pants.
And they go to the store, check out the dialogue.
Oh, I like these pants.
Oh, they're nice.
Try them on.
Are you kidding?
What if the last guy that tried them on was going commando?
Oh, gross.
Exactly.
Think about that.
Let's say, yeah, I would not want to try on pants that were worn, that were tried on
by somebody else who was going commando.
No way, that is disgusting.
No, no, no.
That's like using somebody's used towel.
No, no, no, no.
No, not going to happen.
Going commando.
So I think if you guys know the situation comedy, the sitcom Friends, Joey is famous for
saying he goes commando.
A lot of people go commando.
You know the Scottish people, the men who wear kilts, K-I-L-T-S, those kilts, evidently
a Scottish kilts.
It's like a skirt, but for a guy, evidently those men are always going commando when
they are wearing the kilts.
So there you go.
There's a word for that.
So if you are, then you have an expression.
I'm going commando.
This is not something we tell everybody, of course.
You don't get on the bus and say, hello everybody, I hope you're doing today.
I'm going commando.
No, that's not something we announce.
We don't tell people.
But it's something that some people do.
So just keep that in mind.
So you can say to your husband or your wife or to your son, are you going commando?
Put some underwear on.
Put some underwear on.
There you go.
That's it.
That's today's expression.
