So today we have a great expression, it's a word, we're focusing on a word and the word
is behind, to be behind, B-E-H-I-N-D.
And actually behind has several meanings.
In this dialogue today, we're going to focus on two meanings of the word behind, to be
behind.
And one of the definitions is in back of you.
So behind me is my chair, my chair is behind me, I have a green screen behind me, and behind
the green screen is a bookcase, and yeah, so, et cetera, et cetera.
So to be behind means in back, to the back of you.
Okay?
Another definition, very commendation, definition of to be behind is to be late on something.
So for example, I am supposed to go to the doctor at two o'clock and in order for me to
get to the doctors at two o'clock, I need to leave my house at two thirty.
And right, I'm sorry, at one thirty, in order to get to the doctors at two o'clock, I need
to leave my house by one thirty.
And right now, it's one thirty five.
So I am behind schedule.
I will be late to the doctors, how late, how behind, how far behind, am I, about five
minutes, right?
Because I need to leave at one thirty, it's already one thirty five.
I'm five minutes behind schedule.
Does that make sense?
So these two usages are super common.
Something in back of you, it is behind you.
And then your schedule, if you're running late, you are behind.
Okay?
Makes sense?
Check out the dialogue.
Where's Tim?
Right behind you.
Tim, let's go.
We're behind schedule.
How far behind are we?
And I will be okay after two days of hard work.
So Tim and this guy, these two guys, they're working on a project.
Okay, they're working on a project and they need to work harder because they are behind
schedule.
They're behind schedule.
And the one guy says, and by the way, Tim, Tim was behind him.
He couldn't see him.
Maybe he was getting some water or something.
Anyway, they're behind schedule.
And the one guy asks, how far behind are we?
Like five minutes behind, are we ten pages behind?
How far behind are we?
And the guy says, we will be okay after two days of hard work.
So right now they're behind schedule.
But if they really work hard for two days, they will not be behind schedule.
Does this make sense?
So I'll give you the idea.
For me right now, today is Tuesday.
Okay, it's Tuesday.
And I have a project that I must finish on Friday.
Okay.
Now I started this project last week, but I was lazy.
I wasn't working too hard and now it's Tuesday.
And oh my god, I have so much work to do.
If I'm going to finish it by Friday, this is too much.
I need some help.
I am behind schedule.
There's too much.
I'm behind schedule.
How far behind are we?
Well I need to finish on Friday and that's impossible unless you help me, then maybe
if we work hard for the next couple of days, we can be okay.
So how far behind are we?
Well, it's not a distance.
It's not an amount of time.
It's an amount of work.
If we work really hard, we won't be behind.
Does this make sense?
Yeah, that's kind of a tough one.
So if I say like I'm five minutes behind schedule, that's pretty easy to understand.
So hopefully you still understand this great expression.
It's a super common expression.
And by the way, if you are not a DDM member or a perf member, the other people listening
