Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody, welcome back to daily easy English expression the podcast.
This is number 953, amazing.
So, last week we had our first seven day English challenge.
Oh my goodness, it was fantastic.
It was the beginning of March in 2020.
Seven days nonstop action.
The students did an amazing job and they pretty much killed me.
Saturday night I finished the last video lesson.
And you could hear at the end of the video my voice was gone.
I was starting to lose my voice, but it was great.
We had so many live classes.
I talked with, I think I talked with everybody.
So I'm very pleased about the seven day challenge.
Right now the students are giving me feedback.
Telling me things to improve what they liked, what they learned.
And we will have another seven day English challenge pretty soon.
This will probably become somewhat regular, regular thing.
But yeah, we'll have another one pretty soon.
So I hope that you join us.

They're free. Okay, today's expression is great.
It is to cement a relationship.
To cement a relationship, a friendship, a deal.
Cement. C -E -M -E -N -T.
We can use cement as a verb.
That's right. If you look up cement in the dictionary, they usually show you the noun definition, which is the most common.
It's the most common usage.
Cement is what sidewalks are made out of.
Some roads are made with cement.
The foundation of a house can be made with cement.
There are cement trucks.
But we can use cement as a verb too and what that means is cement a relationship, make the relationship very strong.
Put it together, make it solid.
That's the idea. You need to cement the relationship.
You need to make the relationship very strong.
Let's cement the deal.
Let's make the deal, the contract, very strong so it doesn't break.
Check out the dialogue.
A diamond? Yes, my love.
With this diamond, I cement our relationship.
Can I see the receipt?
Huh? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Oh, come on, ladies.
Really? If your man gives you a diamond ring, are you going to demand to see the receipt?
If you need to see the receipt, you are seeing the wrong guy.
And guys, unless you're actually giving your girl a fake diamond, if your woman asks for a receipt, you're seeing the wrong woman.
All right? Yeah, a lot of people do that.
They use a diamond ring, you know, men to the woman.
Why don't women do anything?
Men give women a diamond ring to cement the relationship.
To show the woman that you are my woman and there is no other woman.
So please accept this ring and become my woman and I will be your man.
Whatever the situation is, right?
So, guys out there, men, did you give a woman, your woman, a diamond ring?
Did you? Me? Mm, nope.
My love is stronger than a diamond.
Saying I love you to my wife is more powerful than a diamond.
My word cements the relationship.
My wife is downstairs right now.
She can't hear this podcast and I don't think she's going to listen to it.
So I'm okay. One day I would love to be able to afford a diamond for my wife.
Right now, I have hospital bills to pay for.
You guys have a fantastic day.
Check out the dialogue two more times.
