Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English!
Hello everybody, it's time for another E -Cubed Podcast.
Yeah, this is number 947.
There was a message a day or two ago.
Oh, I love the podcasts.
I hope you make it to 1000 this year.
And this year, of course, is 2020.
Yeah, me too. I don't see a problem.
Should be no problem.
But yeah, that's our goal, to make it to 1000.
And by the way, our videos, we have the E -Cubed video too.
We're up to 1231. Can you believe that?
1231 is the next video that I'll be making for E -Cubed videos on YouTube.
And we tried to put those videos on YouTube.
Also, we're uploading them to, in China, Weibo and Billibilly.
So our Chinese listeners, they can't watch YouTube.
It's really tough. So they can see too.
But yeah, we love that.
So anyway, by the way, get the free lessons, please sign up.
My newsletter, some free lessons, www .letsmasterenglish .com slash free.
Join our classes. They're really great.
And actually today, the dialogue is about those classes.
The expression is for one.
For one. Okay. F -O -R, for one.
O -N -E. Now, we don't say for one.
We say for one. Not for one.
For one. So it sounds like F -E -R, right?
For, for, F -U -R, for, for.
Same pronunciation.
And the intonation.
Well, for one. So the stress goes on the word one.
Not the preposition for.
So again, the pronunciation is for one.
And what this means is for example.
So for one means for example.
And specifically, there are probably three or four examples.
And here is one example.
Okay. Does that make sense?
So let's check out the dialogue, and then I'll give you some other examples.
Okay. Why do you teach English online for free?
Well, to help people with no money, for one.
I also hope that through language, people from everywhere can become friends for another.
And I like making people smile.
It's true. So the question was, why do you teach English online for free?
And I said, well, one reason, one reason.
Now in this case, it's not for example.
Well, for example is the idea.
But one reason is, for example, to help people with no money.
So I teach for free, especially to students who are students, especially to students, young people.
You know, people with no job, no money.
Now if you're older, pay for my classes.
Seriously, join the classes, get serious.
But there are several reasons why I teach English online for free.
One, one reason for example, is to help people with no money.
Another reason, for example, for two, we don't say for two.
We don't say for two.
For another, for another, another reason is that if we all speak a language together, English, then we might be able to become better friends, right?
Yeah, it's true, it's true.
You know, in the 1980s, for, for, I'm an American.
So for the US, the enemy was Russia.
We hated Russia, those communist bastards, right?
The Russian army, argh.
And now it's, you know, 2020 and I have so many students from Russia, my age.
You know, they're, they're a little bit older, 40s and 50s.
And we talk about what it was like back in the 1980s when America and Russia were supposed to be enemies.
And actually our lives were the same.
And we're the same.
And now because of this language, you know, English, I teach English, they're my students studying English.
We're friends. We're total friends.
Not enemies at all.
Zero enemy -ness. So through language, people from everywhere can become friends, it's true.
That's another reason.
There's another reason, another reason I like making people smile.
People say they laugh while they learn.
That's great. I like that.
There's another reason, another reason I can promote my real classes, my DDM and my PERF and my action English classes, yeah.
So that's another reason.
For example, I can do this and that and that.
Here's another example, I can do this.
And here's another one, I can do this.
Does that make sense?
I hope so. So I think earlier I said for one, the idea is for example, yes, actually a better definition might be for one reason, which is an example, but it might be better to understand it as for one reason, for another reason.
And again, we don't say for two, for three, we could, for one, I like you, for two, I'm rich.
So, Shane, why did you buy me a car?
Well, for one, I like you, for two, I'm rich, for three, you need one.
It's possible to say for one, for two, for three, but it's not common, not common.
It is possible. I don't recommend you doing it.
Just say for one. Well, for one, I like you, for another, I'm rich.
And another, you need a car.
This is the idea. I hope this makes sense.
Podcast is getting too long.
