Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily Easy English Expressions.
Today's expression is very good.
It is a close call.
A close call. So it's not the verb close with the Z pronunciation.
A close call. We're using close as an adjective.
Call is a noun. So close is describing the call.
A close call means you just missed a disaster.
You almost had a dangerous situation.
Something bad almost happened but it didn't.
Thank God. We're really happy.
We're really lucky.
It was a close call.
That was a close call.
Check out the dialogue.
Nice catch. My last cookie.

I told you on my travels leaving Nevada back home, I bought some cookies, some Girl Scout cookies, mint cookies, and they are so delicious.
They were my mom's favorite cookie.
And I agree, they are so delicious.
And I had my last cookie in my hand, I was looking at it and it fell from my hand and it was going down to the ground.
And you know, I have a baby I have cats, you know, I work outside.
So you know, my floor is clean.
But still, if the cookie lands on the floor, I'm not going to eat it.
But I whoa, whoa, and I was able to catch the cookie before it hit the floor.
And of course, I was able to eat it.
It was a close call.
It was really close.
It almost hit the floor.
But I saved the cookie.
And then I ate the cookie.
It was a close call.
I almost had a disaster.
Almost a dangerous situation happened.
Something bad almost happened.
It was a close call.
And again, we almost always use this expression in the past tense to describe something that almost happened.
But it didn't. And we're happy.
That's today's expression.
You guys have a fantastic day.
Check out that dialogue a couple more times.
And together, let's master English.
