Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on! Let's master English.
Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily easy English expression the podcast.
Alright, guys. Today, I have an excellent word to teach you.
I want you to master this word before I tell you the word.
I have two quick announcements and they're not about me.
Announcement number one.
Last Saturday, Coach Clive hosted a free perf class.
It was on Saturday, Saturday morning for me late morning and it was super successful.
So many people joined.
They loved it. They had a great time.
They learned a lot from Coach Clive.
It was so successful that I asked Coach Clive if he could maybe consider doing another weekend and he said, absolutely.
So this Saturday, once again, Coach Clive will be hosting a free live class and basically it's an introduction to perf.
Perf is my speaking class pronunciation, intonation, rhythm and flow.
You can get it for free.
So just send us an email.
Send Coach Clive an email and his email address is lmeclivelb at gmail .com.
One more time. L -M -E.
Let's master English.
L -M -E Clive. That's his last name.
The initials. L -M -E Clive LB at gmail .com.
Send him an email. Tell him you want to join.
What time is the class?
I'm not exactly sure, but I think it will start at 8 .30 AM Los Angeles time this Saturday.
Okay. So you guys double check and this is especially this class is especially for students in Latin America.
So c 'est habla español.
Perfect. Now actually Clive has some stuff in Spanish.
So let me try my Spanish and everybody you can kill me already.
Note piedas estes sabado nuestra clase en vivoi gratis.
Okay, I'll stop. I apologize.
Anyway, join that. Now announcement number two.
And I rarely talk about other English teachers, but I do like a couple of other English teachers.
Actually I like many.
There's a lot of great English teachers, but I have some favorites for British English.
I swear English is just great.
I love the guy. And even in America, there's a couple guys.
And I think number one on my list is probably Michael Di Giacomo because it just got the coolest name in the world.
Michael is a great name, but the last name I'm talking about such a great name and he's a great teacher.
And Mike's specialty is I think more of the beginner level English and he can even work with children.
I know he's got a lot of activity in Japan.
And as far as I know, Michael speaks Japanese.
Nihongo desu hai sukoshi.
That's about all of my Japanese.
But anyway, the announcement is Michael has a book and it's okay.
He sent me a copy. I love it.
This is a great book.
So especially if you have a student, a kid in your classroom, if you are an English teacher, you need this.
But if you're a mom, a dad, and you have a child who's studying English, this is a fantastic book that Michael has just put out and it's on Amazon.
The name of the book is ESL games for the classroom.
101 101 interactive activities to engage your students with minimal prep.
So once again, the book is specifically designed for English teachers.
However, if you're a mom or a dad, that's you.
You could be teaching your child English and this is just a fun book with a lot of 101 activities.
So it's a great book.
You can find it on Amazon.
And no, this is just I'm only telling you about this book, because I like Mike.
Everybody likes Mike.
Yeah, so get the book.
Alright, join Clive's class on Saturday and get Mike's book on Amazon.
These are two things you can do.
These are two actionable things that you can do.
And that is today's expression actionable a c t i o n a b l e one more time.
Actionable a c t i o n a b l e one word actionable.
If something is actionable, it is something that you can do.
If something is not actionable, it is something that you cannot do.
Okay, when do you use this expression?
This is an absolutely excellent word to use in business in your life.
So you know, in 2018, right now, people all around the world are really looking at self development.
Okay, maybe you want to become healthier, you want to become stronger, you want to become more physically fit, you want to start eating better.
Maybe you want to study a language like English or Japanese or German something different.
Maybe you want to start your own business, maybe offline, maybe online.
Maybe there's something you want to do.
You know, you're, you're thinking about plans, you're trying to develop yourself become a father, become a better person, whatever it is.
So you make a list of things that you want to become.
And then you start to think about how you can achieve this goal.
And the how is the important thing, you're looking for things that you can do.
So for example, actionable.
I have an English business.
And in 2018, I would love to hire a full time.
Two full time people.
One, a producer, kind of like a director, helped me with content production.
And number two, an engineer to help with video and audio production.
Okay, I would love to hire two full time people in the United States near me that can, you know, come in and help and work here.
That would be the greatest thing in the world.
But right now it's not actionable.
It's not actionable, because I know the cost for one person alone would be at least $3 ,000 a month.
So for two people, that's at least $6 ,000 a month.
Okay, and my business is way too small to hire anybody at that price.
But in America, that's the minimal price, I need to pay that much money.
So right now for that, for those two things, it's not actionable.
So what can I do? So what I need to do?
What is actionable?
What is actionable?
I want to hire two people, right?
But they're so expensive, I can't do it.
So that is not actionable.
Okay, so what is actionable?
Ah, I need to grow my business, I need to get more students.
That is actionable.
So now how do I grow my number of students?
How do I increase the size of my business?
Now I have to make other plans that are actionable.
And then everybody, the most important thing is do them action.
Don't just talk about actionable act.
Check out the dialogue.
What are you doing?
Writing down my business plans for the year?
See, hire people. Uh, that's not actionable.
Oh, not yet. But if the business grows, it will be.
That's exactly right.
So I'm working really hard at growing the business and we're doing good, we're doing good.
But obviously, we need to grow a lot more.
What about you? What are you?
What are some of your plans, some of your goals, okay?
And and look at what is actionable and what is not actionable.
And when you find something that is not actionable, then go back a little bit and find something that is actionable so that you can eventually achieve your goals.
You guys have a fantastic day.
Check out the dialogues a couple more times and together, let's master English.
What are you doing?
Writing down my business plans for the year?
See, hire people. Uh, that's not actionable.
Oh, not yet. But if the business grows, it will be.
