Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane, and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody, welcome back to daily easy English expression, the podcast.
Thank you very much for listening to the podcast.
It is Thursday for me.
Today's expression is kind of funny.
It's one word, actually it's not even a word.
Today's expression is two letters, okay, and those two letters are TP, TP, T as in Tommy and P as in paper, TP.
So what does TP stand for?
What does TP mean? Well, if you've ever gone to the bathroom and you're sitting down next to you, there is some paper that you can use to clean yourself.
That's called TP and in the United States, usually the only place you will find TP is in the bathroom.
But in different countries, you might find TP in different places.
It's true. Check out the dialogue.
Hey, I don't see any tissue.
Clinics, it's next to the sink.
No, for my... I gotta go to the bathroom.
Oh, you mean TP? It's under the sink.
There you go, Clinics, K -L -E -E -N -I -X, actually that's the name of a brand but we use that word too, facial tissue.
So if your nose is running, you can use Clinics, Clinics that's for your nose.
Then we have napkins, N -A -P -K -I -N -S, napkins and that's for the dinner table.
When you go to a restaurant, they'll have napkins.
Then finally, actually there are paper towels, paper towels, those are bigger sheets of paper and you can use those in the kitchen to clean up water or maybe some spilt food.
And finally, there's TP or toilet paper, T -O -I -L -E -T, toilet paper.
It's round, right? It comes in a roll and you can roll out some.
And of course, once again, in America, you generally only find TP in the bathrooms.
And yeah, so in my bathroom you'll find TP.
Now, sometimes you're sitting down and you look and there's no TP.
Oh, that's a disaster.
Well, in most American bathrooms, don't worry, in most American bathrooms if you're at somebody's house, if you look under the sink, there's usually a cupboard and there you will usually find some extra rolls of TP.
I hope that never happens to you.
That's today's expression.
You guys have a great day.
Check for TP before you sit down.
And together, let's master English.
