Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on. Let's master English.
Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily Easy English Expressions, the podcast.
Alright, so today for me it is Monday, July 9, 2018.
What is it for you?
Is it November 2, 2021?
So if you're listening to the expression today, obviously, it's still July 9, but these podcasts will be around for a long time.
So hello today. Hello tomorrow and hello next year and into the future.
If it's your first time, thank you so much for finding me.
I hope you enjoy these daily expressions.
Okay. Well, today's expression is not that nice.
It's a word and it's a very negative word.
The word is a homewrecker.
Mm hmm. A homewrecker.
It's one word I'll spell it H, O, M, E, W, R, E, C, K, E, R.
One more time homewrecker spelling H, O, M, E.
Okay, that was easy.
Record W, R, E, C, K, E, R.
Okay, the W is silent homewrecker.
It's one word. So what a homewrecker is, it's somebody who wrecks a home.
Okay, and what is a home?
Well, a home is a mom, a dad and children.
That's the idea. Especially the mom and dad, you should think mom and dad, husband and wife.
Record W R E C K as a verb to wreck means to destroy.
So a homewrecker is somebody who destroys a family.
And what that means is a single person, man or woman who wants to have a relationship with another person who is already married.
So if you are in a relationship, this is a terrible expression, but that's what we say.
If you are in a relationship with somebody who is married to somebody else, and if they have children, people might call you a homewrecker.
Yeah, not a not a very cool word.
I know. Check out the dialogue.
I think I like Scott.
Scott's married. Oh, I know.
What can I do? Well, do not be a homewrecker.
You know, we always focus on the single person being the homewrecker, but sometimes it's the married person who's destroying their home.
So yeah, when we say homewrecker, once again, we almost always think of the single person.
But you know, it takes two people to do that.
So don't be a homewrecker.
If you're in a relationship, you know, I'll tell you, I'll tell you a secret.
My mom got divorced when I was a baby.
So I have my dad who's actually my adoptive dad.
And I have my real dad, my biological dad.
And I have a great relationship with my adoptive dad.
You know, he's wonderful.
He's great. However, there's something missing.
There's something missing.
And when I'm when I was like 10 years old or 11 years old, I met my biological dad for the first time.
And it was amazing because suddenly, you know, I look in the mirror every day and I see myself.
And then I see my adoptive dad and we're different.
I love my adoptive dad, but we're different.
But then when I saw my biological dad, and he looked just like me, oh my god, the connection was amazing.
It was amazing. Yeah.
So if you're in a relationship, if you're thinking about getting into a serious relationship, be serious.
And let me tell you, you're in love right now.
Everything's wonderful.
Trust me, after you get married, it's gonna be tough.
There are going to be lots of tough times.
And you need to be tougher.
Don't be a home wrecker.
Don't wreck your home.
Don't let somebody else wreck your home, work hard, have a happy healthy relationship, and have children, lots of children, build up your country.
Oh, what a scary word.
A home record. You guys have a fantastic day.
Don't wreck any homes.
And together, let's master English.
I think I like Scott.
Scott's married. Oh, I know.
What can I do? Well, do not be a home wrecker.
I think I like Scott.
Uh, Scott's married.
Oh, I know. What can I do?
Well, do not be a home wrecker.
