Hello everybody, my name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello everybody welcome back to Daily Easy English Expressions, the Podgast.
Oh my goodness, it's been a long day.
for me it's Monday and this morning, me and my son, we went to the hospital and you know he had a check -up, I had a skin check - I'm a white guy.
We get skin cancer so we had to do a skin check, and then I went to the store and when I get home, my truck died.
Yeah. So I've been spending about four hours trying to figure out what's wrong with the truck.
I had a Mechanic come out to the house, and you know we changed the battery.
We did this and that and Now I have to have my truck towed into town carried into town to be fixed oh My God, this is going to be expensive.
It's been a terrible Monday.
I hope that your Monday has been much Better than mine well today.
I've got a great expression to teach you It's a good one.
You're gonna like it.
It is Junky a junky now last week we have the expression.
I'm a news junky hmm junky spelling J you n Kie What a junkie means actually is an addict add ICT now when we say addict we think of a drug an addict or an alcohol addict.
OK, so if you imagine that type of person, a drug addict or an alcohol addict, think about how they look.
Do they look good? No. Do they look healthy?
No. If they really are an addict, the only thing they think about.
The only reason they live is for the drugs or the alcohol.
So their health is garbage.
They look like garbage.
Their money situation is garbage.
Their personal life is garbage.
What's You just say, a junkie.
We think of a drug addict.
It's a sad word. But we do use the word in more positive ways, and once again, a news junkie.
Uh -huh, can you figure it out?
Check out the dialogue and I'll explain.
Watching the news again?
I told you, I'm a news junkie.
Boring. What about you?
Aren't you addicted to anything?
well I guess you could say I'm a chocolate -junkie oh yeah me I'm not really a chocolate -junkie I'm a coffee -junkie but once again we do say the word news junkie and it means somebody who's addicted to the news they need to watch the the news they're always watching checking the news yeah and I guess in some ways I am kind of a news junkie especially with you know 2018 president trump man every day there's something big happening in the news so yeah I am a news junkie what about you are you a news junkie yeah if so let me know you guys have a fantastic day don't forget our free lessons and our
