Generally, the idea of a snake oil is, it is a remedy.
So the simple definition, a snake oil, snake oil, S -N -A -K -E.
Yeah, you know the snake.
Do you like snakes?
Snake oil, O -I -L, snake oil, definition, remedy.
Okay, do you know remedy?
R -E -M -E -D -Y. However, a snake oil is not a good remedy, it is a fake remedy.
but people buy it people believe it the people who sell it are snake oil salesman yeah and those are bad guys and there's some women to check out the dialogue I want some more ginkgo biloba for my birthday some what ginkgo biloba it's supposed to be a super nutrient that will make me more smarter.
More smarter? It sounds like a snake oil to me.
Have you heard about that ginkgo biloba?
Yeah. I'll spell it G I N K G O B I L O B A.
They say if you eat ginkgo biloba, it will make you smart or smarter.
Of course grammatically we should not say more smarter.
So this person, well, she said, I think it was a woman, she said more smarter.
I guess she needs to eat a lot more ginkgo biloba.
Or, maybe she should just eat Blueberries, or maybe, Ginkgo biloba and blueberries actually have no effect on your intelligence.

Now, let me be honest, okay?
I'm going to be truthful here.
I do have vitamins that I take.
And I take some vitamins for energy.
I take some vitamins for my skin.
I take some vitamins for my health.
Yeah. I do take a few vitamins.
And a lot of people say most vitamins, if you eat healthy meals, most vitamins are a waste of money.
Most vitamins are just a type of snake oil.
They actually have no effect.
I don't know. What do you think?

Did you buy something thinking it was going to help you, but, then, discovering later you wasted your money, it was nothing, that is a snake oil.
Sometimes a politician will promise something, if we do this, our problem will be solved, but then we try that and it doesn't solve our problem, that is a snake oil too.
Once again, however, we usually think of vitamins and medicine, maybe some foods that are supposed to cure our diseases or make us healthier and stronger, to give us more hair, to make us more intelligent, to make our eyes stronger, things like that.
We take them, they don't work, then we call them a snake oil, okay?
So be careful of the snake oils out there, including English classes.

It's gonna make you fluent It's gonna blah blah blah blah blah and you try it and nothing happens Well, maybe you bought a snake oil that's true That's and wait.
