Today's expression is a phrase, the phrase is not that difficult, but the pronunciation is.
The phrase is harder than you think.
Mastering English is harder than you think.
Playing basketball is harder than you think.
Cooking eggs is harder than you think.
American pronunciation is harder than you think.
And the nuance of the phrase is people might think it's not that difficult.
Some Some people might think it's easy, but actually it is difficult.
It is more difficult than you think.
You think it's easy, but no, no, no, no, no, no.
It's actually very difficult.
Okay. But let's focus on the pronunciation.
Four words, harder than you think, H -A -R -D -E -R, harder.
Listen to those R's.
Those are American R's, ha -r -dur, ha -r -dur.
We practice that pronunciation a lot in my perf and DDN classes, especially perf, r -r -r, that strong American R, ha -r -dur.
The next word is then, T -H -A -N, and perfect pronunciation is then, but when Americans say it fast, It actually sounds more like then, like T -H -E -N.
But don't be confused, we are saying T -H -A -N.
Harder than U -U -Y -O -U.
Think, T -H -I -N -K, and get the T -H, not tink, not tink, not shink, think, think, think.
That's another sound that we practice a lot in my classes.
So harder than you think.
Harder than you think.
