Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily Easy English Expressions, the podcast.
Yeah. All right. It is Thursday.
Very busy day for me new perf assignments, perf lesson videos, a new DDM assignment, live classes, ooh, busy busy day.
How about you? I hope you're having a good day.
Today's expression, it's something that you're going to read more than you will hear, but you might hear it.
I did hear it, so that's why I'm teaching the expression.
and the sentence, I heard was this I Did it for?
the Lulz I did it for for the Lulz LUL Z Okay, so Have you heard the expression lol Lol on the internet.
Yeah, lol means laughing out loud something really funny Oh LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, so funny, so funny, I'm laughing out loud, okay?
So, when something is really funny, we can say, or usually type LOL, alright?
So, L -U -L -Z is very similar.
And the way it's used mostly is I did it for the laws.
I did it for fun. it wasn't serious it was just a joke it might have been stupid but anyway I did it why did you do it I did it for the lols I did it for the laughs I did it for fun and this expression is really common for kids especially teenagers especially teenage boys.
Mm -hmm. Many times teenage boys do really stupid things and we ask them why did you do that?
I did it for the LOLs.
Yeah, and it sounds stupid, but that's reality.
Check out the dialogue.
Why did you pull the fire alarm I did it for the lows right here's the bill from the fire department $579 pretty funny huh not so funny not so funny yeah so in my school when I was maybe 14 or 15 years old I don't remember I was a kid.
During classes the fire alarm went off and me and all the other students and teachers we had to go outside and then the fire department came and they went inside the building and they stopped the alarm and then they came out and said there's no fire there's no fire.
But somebody pulled the fire alarm!
And they found out who it was.
I think it was Bruce.
Bruce Smedak. Anyway, and it was just a joke.
Why did you do it? I did it for the laws, I did it as a joke.
You know I was just having fun.
Well, it wasn't that fun because the fire department gave him, in other words, his dad, a bill to pay for the firemen and the fire truck and the services.
Oh my god. And the bill was huge.
So I don't know if the bill was $579, but I do know it was a big bill.
So I, we learned that it's no joke.
As a joke, do not pull the fire alarm.
So we got to be careful, you know?
Sometimes we do things that are not very nice, but it might be funny, some people might laugh, Sometimes we say things that we think are funny, but actually some people get hurt.
That's not nice. It's rather inconsiderate sometimes to make some jokes.
So we have to really be careful.
These days, my wife is pregnant, and I'm a guy.
So I sympathize with her, But I don't know what it's like to have a, uh, you know, a baby inside.
So sometimes I make jokes, you know, Oh, be tough, be a man.
Come on, you're tough.
You're strong. And I say that, uh, to be funny.
But believe me, my wife is not laughing.
No, she's not laughing.
And she'll say, why did you say that?
And I'm like, Oh, I did it for the laws.
hahaha and believe me she will one day get revenge be careful guys doing things and saying things for laughs to entertain people is great but just remember some people might be angry just remember that's all you have to do just remember and then just say sorry it was just a joke oh boy I worry about the revenge.
You guys have a fantastic day.
The weekend is coming up close.
It's Thursday. TGIF tomorrow.
Thank god it's Friday tomorrow.
Enjoy the conversation two more times and together, let's master English.
