Okay Today's expression is a phrasal verb and actually it's really easy.
It is to luck out L U C K O U T.
Now I'm not exactly sure but I believe the American usage and the British usage might be different.
In America when we say I lucked out.
I hope we luck out.
We keep lucking out.
That actually means we're really lucky.
I mean really really extremely lucky.
I'm not sure about in the UK So if you have a British friend, why don't you ask them?
What does luck out mean in the UK and then leave a comment here on Twitter or Facebook?
Or wherever you are listening to this podcast, let me know.
Okay. Alright guys to luck out means to be extremely lucky Check out the dialogue Yeah no more new restaurants my steak is horrible yeah yeah my salmon's bad too too dry well my duck is great super tasty oh you really locked out next time McDonald's do you like going to restaurants new restaurants do you like trying new foods yeah I'm personally I do not like restaurants and you know I've been to many many restaurants in my life and sometimes they're okay but I'm sorry food at home to me tastes better and I love trying new foods but I like to make them to make them myself I really like you know
cooking eating at home, my wife's a great cook so I'm pretty lucky.
However, one food that I do enjoy eating outside and I always seem to luck out is the hamburger.
Hamburgers are really difficult to make taste bad.
But, other things? Oh my God.
You know, I never seem to luck out when I order a steak.
Every time I order a steak, you would think it would be easy, but there's too much sauce, or it's not cooked right, or I don't know, some weird flavor, or maybe the salad is, but something's wrong, I just don't like it.
But when I cook at home, I always luck out.
I always get extremely lucky.
my steak is perfect to luck out to be really really lucky so in this conversation one guy had steak it was horrible another guy had salmon that's the fish S -A -L -M -O -N salmon no L pronunciation the other guy had salmon and it was it was bad it was too dry but the third person I think it was a woman She had duck, and it was really good.
So one guy, unlucky.
Two guys, unlucky. This is a bad restaurant.
The third person was good.
Oh, was she really lucked out?
