Okay, today's expression, Back in my heyday.
Oh, yeah, yeah. Back in my heyday.
Ah, what a great expression it's actually kind of a sad expression, but it's okay So as you guys know my birthday is now in about a month and this upcoming birthday I'll be half a century old The big 5050.
Oh my god. Yeah, it's getting up there right.
It's pretty cool. I'm happy and one thing that I notice now especially when I exercise when I get out there in my shoes and and try to run when I get on my bike and try to ride I realize that it takes a lot more time and effort and energy to be anything like I was when I was 20 yeah so physically it's a little bit tougher back in my heyday it was easy when I was 20 huh I could ride a bike all day I could run all day I could run really fast but that was in my heyday back in my heyday check out the dialogue and I'll explain I see you're cycling again I I want to do a triathlon next year Yeah?
You're too old. Hey, back in my heyday, I was unstoppable.
You are never too old.
You're never too old, as Olga reminded us in DDM VIP.
We studied an old DD lesson, daily dictation lesson.
I think it was DD19.
Olga said, if you can still breathe, it's not too late.
That's right, that's what we learned in that daily dictation.
That's right. So back on your heyday.
That means back when you were young back when you were strong Back when you were tough back when you did it every day when you were really popular when you were really good when you had All the talent However, that was a long time ago Now it doesn't just have to be physical talent So I'm talking about cycling and running and yeah, that's really tough when you're 20 years old It's easy and when you get older it gets tough But it can also be you know using your brain Memorizing things so for some of you guys.
I know this is true when you were 16 17 years old You could memorize all the vocabulary and the grammar and and all this other English stuff Right, and then you could take a test and maybe pass the test, but now Who and we're older man you tell me something yesterday I forget it by today now we forget But back in my heyday I could remember everything I could memorize everything Back in my heyday this spelling b -a -c -k -k back in I n my m -y Heyday that's one word h -e -y -d -a -y Back in my heyday back when I was good, back when I was tough, back when I was strong, back when I was sharp, when I was younger,
you know, probably the teens and the 20s.
So if you are in your 20s right now, you better develop a skill, you better get good at something.
If you're in your 30s, you can do it.
You can go back to your heyday, it's possible.
Once you get into your 40s, It's getting tougher Into your 50s.
Yes, it's not easy that now we're gonna start using back in my heyday You can use this expression at any age.
It's a great expression back when you were your Best that's the idea back when you were your best And unfortunately the idea you're not gonna be that good again So you guys even if you're a little bit older 30s 40s and 50s and English is a little bit tough hey don't worry about it the majority of my students are in there I got a lot in the 30s but 40s and 50s 40s and 50s that's the majority of my students so you can join us and enjoy studying English and you know what if you study with us.
Your English is going to be better today than it was back in your hey day.
I guarantee it. You guys have a fantastic week.
This is my week in review I don't know if I'll be making a podcast everyday but don't be angry.
