Hello everybody, welcome back to daily easy English expression.
T G I F thank God it's Friday.
I'm very happy. Are you?
I'm very happy that it's Friday.
I don't know why no special reason.
I actually have a very busy day tomorrow, but still it's Friday That's nice.
It's 648 a .m. October 6th 2017 Outside temperature 28 degrees Fahrenheit that is minus 2 degrees Celsius And we have a full moon.
It was bright when I went to bed making shadows across the land and right now it's still bright and it's amazing yeah really nice I like the full moon this is the fall full moon harvest season and lots of people are celebrating not only in Asia but American Indians are celebrating this full moon too so it's a big full moon I I hope that everybody's having a great time.
Okay, today's expression is to put a crimp in my plan.
To put, P -U -T -A, crimp, C -R -I -M -P.
To put a crimp, C -R -I -M -P, in my plan, P -L -A -N.
So, you have a plan, okay.
You have a plan, you're gonna do something, you're gonna buy something, you know, something, whatever.
but something happens and now you have to change your plan or you have to cancel your plan in this case something put a crimp in my plan mm -hmm check out the dialogue are you gonna take a vacation in December well I was Oh, what happened?
I got sick in July and missed almost two weeks of work!
That put a crimp in my plan!
Exactly. Uh, lots of people where I live, you know, it's pretty cold in the wintertime.
So around vacation season, or around December, they like to take two weeks vacation in December.
And then they go to Florida or you know, Texas or Mexico or Jamaica someplace like that for vacation, but This guy every year he has a plan to go on vacation in December however in July.
He was really sick So he missed two weeks of work, and he used up his vacation time.
That's terrible That's terrible.
That's too bad To put a crimp in your plan.
Have any of your plans had problems?
What put a crimp in them?
What is a crimp? So, the idea of a crimp, I'll give you a really simple idea.
Imagine you have a nice shirt and it's perfectly smooth and then you lay down on your bed wearing Bring your shirt, after an hour, when you wake up, your shirt is not smooth anymore.
There's one big bump.
A crease, C -R -E -A -S -E.
It's like a wrinkle, that's the idea.
But a crimp is something was smooth, something was perfect, and suddenly, boop -doop!
It sticks out, it's no good.
It's not smooth anymore, that's the idea.
So remember guys, to put a crimp in your plan means you had to change your plan or worse, you had to cancel your plan.
Alright, that's today's expression.
I hope that your Friday is great.
If you have plans for the weekend, I hope nothing puts a crimp in your plan.
