Anyway, right now it is 7 33 in the morning.
Very nice and cool, 54 degrees Fahrenheit where I am north of Chicago 13 degrees Celsius, absolutely lovely.
However, today, it's going to be warm.
I don't know why I'm using a bit of a British accent right now, but I'll stop.
Back to America. Today's expression, it's a word, it's very good.
It is painstaking, painstaking, painstaking.
Oh yeah, painstaking.
So, this past weekend as I told you, So I had some problems doing my live radio show.
It's a painstaking process.
It's a painstaking process.
It is. The process of doing a live radio show is very difficult.
It requires great care.
I have to be very careful.
I have to be operating two, sometimes three different machines.
machines. I need communications on one machine.
I need music resources on another machine.
I need broadcast resources on another machine.
I have the audio control for the microphones and for the music.
I have to verify copyright issues.
It's extremely complicated.
It's requires pain.
And I don't mean pain as in, oh, that hurts.
No, I mean actual care.
In this case, when we say painstaking, to take pains means to take care, to be very careful, to be very thorough, to be very rigorous, to be very, to focus all of your attention and care on something.
So, pains taking means taking pains.
But, when we say pains, do not think of your body as in hurting.
Pains means that extra, super attention and care.
A lot of attention, a lot of care, a lot of thoughtfulness.
that's the idea if something is painstaking.
It's not easy. It requires your care.
It requires great attention.

Well yes but it's gonna really help.
How? It'll show you where your weaknesses are.
Absolutely painstaking.
So I have many of you know I have a class called DDM students get an assignment and in that assignment and DDM, they usually have four or five sections to listen and watch a video or an audio and then dictate write down what those native English speakers are saying.
And that can be really difficult, but doing dictation actually is very important because it's going to show you two things.
It's going to show you, number one, where your pronunciation problems are.
Number two, it's going to show you your grammar problems.
There are more. Number three, it's going to show you your lack of phrasal verbs.
It's going to show you new idioms and how to learn and and recognize new idioms.
It's going to teach you all about punctuation it's going to teach you all about culture yet DDM is really an excellent class it's a painstaking class you need to listen to these people and write down and be careful did they say an ass was that an ed verb was that plural is it singular do these verbs make sense you know if you want to focus on grammar you can do that if you want to focus on pronunciation you can do that if you want to focus on vocabulary phrasal verbs idioms you can do that if you want to focus on culture you can do that there are many different areas so is this easy to focus no no it's
not easy it's difficult it requires your careful attention to detail it's painstaking but remember you guys when you do some But hopefully when you do something that's painstaking, the result is wonderful.
The result for DDM is wonderful.
