Hello everybody! Welcome back to Daily EASY English Expressions!
Today, we have a word...
Listen carefully...
a ruse... a ruse...
some people might say roos but almost always uh we say ruse r -u -s -e it has a z pronunciation a ruse what is a ruse well it's something you do to trick somebody so you do something to deceive someone basically to lie to someone for example being really nice to somebody so they like you when actually you hate that person that's a ruse or offering somebody something for free and they take it and they like it but actually it's not for free you're going to charge or it's no good or it's temporary something like that.
It's a ruse. Anybody who tells you, you can be fluent in English in three months.
That's probably a ruse.
Check out the dialogue.
How are you going to surprise him?
I don't know. He's always in his room.
We need to think of a ruse to get him out.
Believe it or not, that was about me.
A couple friends wanted to celebrate my birthday, but this is a couple of years ago, but I never left the house.
I was always at home, and you know, they would drive by, say, hey, Shane, come out, let's go have a beer.
No, that's all right, I'm at home working.
Hey, Shane, let's go to the movies.
No, that's all right, I'm working.
And they wanted to do something for my birthday.
but I would never go out so they had to develop a ruse they basically created a lie yeah so how did they do it they were driving by and they said hey Shane your car you have to move your car it's in the parking lot right I said yes well the car next to it is on fire boom I ran out of my apartment downstairs to move my car.
I was worried that my car would be destroyed in a fire.
And there they were.
And they grabbed me and they took me to dinner.
Yeah. I didn't even have a chance to wash my hair.
They created a ruse.
They deceived me. They tricked me in order to surprise me and take me out for my birthday.
Yeah. Well, no longer am I friends with those guys?
I like to stay home.
Aruz, R -U -S -E, check it out online.
Many times we use the word Aruz in a negative situation.
And the example I gave you, it was actually kind of nice even though I hate going out and the meal was not that delicious but it was nice being with my friends.
You guys have a fantastic day.
Tomorrow's Friday. Most of you love Fridays.
I hope it's gonna be a good one.
Take care everybody and together, let's master English!
