Hello everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
Come on. Let's Master English.
Hello everybody. Welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, The podcast.
Today's expression is to be filled with confidence.
F -I -L -L -E -D. When I go to the coffee shop, I want my coffee cup filled with coffee.
Completely full. Confidence.
Confidence. the belief in yourself that you can do something.
I am confident! I am sure I can do something.
To be filled with confidence means you are confident that something is good or you will be successful or something will happen properly.
I want to have a picnic tomorrow outside at the park but right now the sky is very gray and it looks like it might storm.
The sky does not Not fill me with confidence.
I have a dog. It's a beautiful dog and I want my dog to help me when I go hunting.
But the dog is so crazy and it jumps around and it barks and it never listens to me.
My dog is not filling me with confidence.
My dad's birthday is coming up and last year I made him a cake and he loved it.
This year I'm making him cookies and I told him and my dad said he's filled with confidence because he knows my cake was good, so probably my cookies will be great.
This is how we use it.
Let's check out a dialogue.
I need a haircut you should go to my barber he does a horrible job on your hair mines curly it's tough it always grows back and that doesn't fill me with confidence okay so this guy wants to get a hair cut and the other guy says go to my barber B -A -R -B -E -R, that's the guy who cuts hair, but that guy's haircut is ugly, it's terrible.
Every time that guy goes to the barber and he comes back, his hairstyle is horrible.
Well, he explains. Well, my hair is curly.
Wing, wing, wing, wing, wing.
Cutting my hair is difficult, but don't worry, after a couple weeks, after a couple months, my hair grows back, so it's okay.
But no! I want to go to a barber who's going to cut my hair and make it look good.
So does the barber the guy go to?
Does he sound like a good barber?
No. Does he fill you with confidence?
No, no not at all. He makes me nervous.
I don't think I would go.
he does not fill me with confidence it's a great expression to be filled with confidence to not be filled with confidence yeah if you listen to my podcasts and you understand seventy percent sixty percent eighty percent then I would guess that I am filling you with English confidence you are are probably feeling a bit positive, a bit strong about your English ability, and that's great.
