Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Daily Easy English Expressions, the podcast.
Alright, everybody.
We've got a great word today.
It's a tough word, but But I know how to teach it so that it's easy.
And if you use it, you sound really smart.
The word is auspicious, auspicious, A -U -S -P -I -C -I -O -U -S.
Auspicious. And we use it as an adjective for nouns like, Day Occasion number so an auspicious day today is an auspicious day December 22nd is an auspicious day an auspicious occasion an auspicious event the number 22 is an auspicious number So what is auspicious mean?
it basically means good luck very positive the perfect word would be favorable an auspicious day a favorable day a very good day to do something to have a wedding to take a trip to have an outside picnic an auspicious number a A number that is good luck, it's a very positive number.
It's meaning is very good for you.
An auspicious occasion, or an auspicious event.
An event, or an occasion that's really special, very positive, it shows success and happiness, auspicious.
it's a great word great adjective check out a dialogue well you're all happy the boss's daughter is getting married so not to you.
Oh, but it's an auspicious day I'm gonna ask for a raise.
That's a really smart smart guy the boss's daughter is getting married so if your boss's daughter is getting married probably the boss is very happy and if your boss is happy if he's in a good mood or she's in a good mood that's a good time to ask for vacation or to ask for a raise or a promotion so using auspicious days to your advantage is smart Don't abuse an auspicious day But yeah, it's very good So a great example would be choosing a wedding date now some people don't care They just go get married they just look for you know an available appointment or whatever But some people they really
want to pick the perfect day and it might be the number it might be the month It might be the weekend, it might be the time of day, it might be the season...
They're looking for an auspicious day.
A very special, very magical, very positive, very favorable day.
This actually is probably a word that is a little bit difficult to use in the beginning, but if you do some Google searches, you'll see it and eventually you'll hear it and you'll You'll be able to use it.
An auspicious day. It's a great adjective.
