today we have a verb and a noun it's the same word quarantine to be in quarantine and to quarantine somebody and sometimes you say quarantine they're going to be quarantined we do have that pronunciation to all we do use both so So let me spell it q u a r a n t i n e one more time q u a r a n t i n e quarantine.
So this is 2016 not too long ago we had the 2016 summer Olympics in Brazil, obrigado.

I don't know what the truth is but if he lied, it's really terrible Anyway, there was a big scare about the summer Olympics in Brazil because of the Zika virus do you remember that?
yeah the about the mosquitoes?
yeah this is a scary thing and was it a year ago or two years ago in Africa they had the Ebola virus do you remember that the Ebola virus right so this is like really scary for people what do you do you know what if somebody has the virus how do we protect other people, especially the Ebola virus, that was really scary because you know, sweat or anything.
It could, you could get that terrible a disease or infection.
So what they would do with people with these very dangerous infections or diseases is they put them in quarantine, or they quarantine those people.
They put them in a separate place so that they do not infect other people so that other people don't catch the virus or disease, I don't even know.
But that's the idea.
So quarantine is a very important word and we use this when we talk about public safety.
So we can use it for people who have been infected with a disease or a virus, but we can also use it with some goods that we import or export if we think we need to quarantine some shipment from a country or a place because we need to check to make sure it's legal.
That's the idea, to quarantine something to put in a safe place where other people cannot touch it or see it or be affected by it or to put in a safe place, so that you can check it later.

a doctor would go to West Africa to help people, then the doctor came back to America.
The doctor said I'm not sick but the government said no no no we need to quarantine you Because we don't know and The doctor was really angry.
This is a true story.
The doctor was really angry don't quarantine me.
I told you I'm not sick What do you do?
Yeah, can you imagine let's say let's say for example in your neighborhood or in your town Or let's say you go on vacation to another country.
And then you come back to your country and then you discover that there was a disease where you were and now they want to quarantine you.
You can't go anywhere.
You can't do anything.
You might die or the idea is you might infect other people.
It's a really controversial subject to quarantine people but my personal opinion public safety is most important.
We have these diseases in the world that are just terrible and dangerous and I just hope that all of you are safe and do everything you can to stay safe and healthy but if something happens, we really do need to think about the people around us, our family, and we gotta hope for the best, right?
So it's a serious word, quarantine.
We use it a lot in business too, so I know a lot of you guys, a lot of you people are business people.
