Today's expression, yesterday we learned nauseous, nauseous or nauseous.
Today we have the runs.
The runs. R -U -N -S. Oh boy, this is not a good one.
If somebody has the runs, it means your stomach is not feeling well and you need to go to the bathroom.
And not, you know, for men, not standing up but sitting down.
Now normally, when you go to the bathroom and you sit down, when you actually go to the bathroom, everything, you know, is okay.
But when you have the runs, it's like turning on the water.
I'm so sorry. I hope you're not eating.
Check out the dialog.
Ugh, I don't think I can go in today.
What's wrong? Oh my stomach.
I've got the runs. I'll call your boss!
Turn the fan on! What a wonderful wife!
The husband has the runs.
He's got diarrhoea.
The spelling of diarrhoea everybody!
D -I -A -R -R -H -E -A. Diarrhoea is what the doctor would want you to say.
The runs is what we say in daily english.
The husband has diarrhea he has the runs his stomach is not in good condition Stuff comes out and the wife is going to call his boss so that he doesn't have to go to work and All she wants from her husband is for him to turn the fan in the bathroom on do you have a fan in your bathroom?
Yeah, I've got my bathroom here It doesn't have a fan.
It actually it does have a fan it doesn't work.
So if you turn the fan on nothing happens.
Yeah you're supposed to have a fan in the ceiling that takes out the steam and also takes out any you know bad smelling air.
Yeah the runs. Now I know it's it's kind of disgusting the word but it's reality.
We're humans. We suffer at times from this problem.
the runs And so we need to know this word, so why do we say the runs?
Well, there are two reasons I can think of number one when it comes out it's like running water the water we say the verb for water is running water is the water running is the water working does it come out of You know the sink the faucet so when you go to the bathroom if it comes out like water it's the runs.
But another reason is if somebody has the runs they cannot walk to the bathroom they need to run ahhhhhhhhh to the bathroom.
