Quite a few! Quite a few!
Now this is actually a very easy expression and you probably already know it.
But let's practice.
Quite Q U I T E A A Few F E W Quite A Few And we have a flat T sound.
So in the UK in London, they might say quite a few quite a few There's that Australia.
I don't know but in America we say quite a quite a quite a few quite a few so Shane um How many Podcasts have you made?
Quite a few. Uh -huh.
How many students do you have?
quite a few Uh huh.
How many hairs on your head do you have?
Oh, I still have quite a few.
I'll give you the definition after you check out the dialogue.
How many states have you visited?
Ah, quite a few. Maybe 20.
Oh, which is your favorite?
So far, Colorado was great.
Quite a few, so the dialogue how many states, America has fifty states, how many states have you visited?
The guy said quite a few, maybe 20.
What is quite a few?
Quite a few is a lot.
And it depends. So, if I have quite a few cookies, if I eat quite a few cookies, that's probably seven or eight cookies.
For me for me, you know two cookies is enough.
But if I eat five, six, seven cookies, that's quite a few.
That's a lot. Drinking beer.
I enjoy beer. But for me, one beer is enough.
So if I drink three beers, that's quite a few.
Now, I have a neighbor.
His name is Dan, and he drinks a I bet Dan drinks probably four or five beers every day.
So that's...for him, that's not a lot.
But for Dan, if he drank ten beers or eleven beers, that would be quite a few.
So for me, quite a few is three.
But for Dan, quite a few is ten.
So this quite a few expression is really good.
But you really need to understand the situation to understand what it means.
One person's definition of quite a few can be very different from another person's definition of quite a few.
So right now this is, what, about 581 podcasts for this specific podcast. That's a lot!
That's quite a few.
I think if you ask any Podcaster that over 500 podcasts is a lot.
That's quite a few for some guys a 100 podcasts is a lot quite a few, and if you compare me to them.
Oh, I'm killing them So that's the idea quite a few.
It's a great reference to a number that means a lot But once again a lot for me might be different to your definition of a lot.
Does this make sense?
I want you to go online or start watching American, you know, TV shows and documentaries and things like that, movies, and listen for the expression quite a few.
Look for the expression quite a few and see how people use it.
