Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
You and me every day.
Come on. Let's master English.
Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression.
Listen carefully. Do you hear that sound?
That's the sound of my muscles.
Yes, I know many of you who listen to the podcast have no idea what I look like.
Well basically, I look like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I've got massive muscles, very huge.
If you saw me in the street, you would probably be afraid of me.
Yes, I am very buff.
BUFF, that is today's expression.
If somebody is buff, they have very good muscle shape, muscle tone.
It doesn't necessarily mean huge muscles, but probably huge muscles.
Anyway, they do look muscular, very, very healthy.
And if you've seen me in my videos, well then you would agree I look very buff, right?
Check out the dialogue.
Uhhhh, you're pretty buff!
Yeah, I've been working out a bit.
Great! Any reason? Oh, not really.
I just like the exercise.
Lots of people want to look buff so that they can impress other people.
Other people want to be buff so that they can intimidate other people.
Some people want to be buff just to be buff to feel healthy because they like looking at themselves in the mirror.
Me? Yeah if you've seen my pictures or my videos then you know that I'm not you know un buff there's no word I'm not super buffed on that not at all no I'm not like skinny like bones and stuff like that I'm okay but I'm not buff I wouldn't call myself buff seriously um if you've seen my pictures once again I know I have a fairly healthy looking body.
Not too skinny but very very close to being very skinny but yeah my stomach is pretty fat actually but I would not consider myself buff.
Now probably lots of Hollywood actors are much more buff than I am because it's very important for them to look good on the camera up, and to look physically fit.
Me? I'm not very buff.
I'm not. Lots of athletes, however, are very buff.
I'll tell you, when I was younger, let me see when I was maybe 26, 27, 28 years old, I did go to a gym and I worked out.
I lifted weights. And the reason I did it was because my whole life, I was a runner running and cycling and swimming.
So I was very thin, like wiry thin.
You know, I had good muscles, but I was just really thin.
So I wanted to see if I could actually get muscles, you know, big muscles.
And I couldn't, I could not.
I worked out very hard for about two years, and I just couldn't get big.
However, I did get Buff.
And, you know, my judgment of Buff was when I would walk down the stairs, I could feel the muscles in my chest. That told me I was buff.
That was pretty cool.
Now, I have no muscles in my chest and I can't even properly use a belt.
I need to buy a new belt because my stomach is too Oh, no, this is terrible.
Too much information for you.
I need to get a little bit more buff.
I do, yeah, I'd like to be more buff.
What about you? Are you buff?
And for ladies, too, once again, ladies being buff, it's not about muscles, it's about being strong, physically fit, very fit.
Being able to lift things and run and I don't know what else it is.
But yeah, buff, everybody is a good thing.
Why you're being buff?
That's a different story.
But being buff is good.
It means you've got healthy, strong muscles and you look good.
Physically you look very healthy.
Buff. B -U -F -F. Are you buff?
Do you want to be buff?
Maybe in 2016. The become buff.
Leave a message. Let us know.
Have a fantastic day.
