Hello everybody! My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
You and me everyday!
Come on! Let's master English.
Hello everybody, welcome back to Daily Easy English Expression, the podcast. Today we have a good expression, it is a bad omen.
A bad omen, B -A -D, bad, not good.
omen, o -m -e -n. A bad omen means a bad sign or a bad signal.
So, for example, you wake up in the morning and you go to the bathroom and as you look in the mirror, the mirror breaks.
That's a bad omen. It means probably today you will have some bad luck.
Be careful, be careful.
Bad signals, bad signs.
Oh they happen they happen all the time.
Some other bad omens are spilling salt.
You're cooking or maybe you're just putting salt on your breakfast or lunch or dinner, your eggs, something like that.
And if you spill some of the salt off your plate onto the floor, its a bad omen.
Its bad luck. Another really scary bad omen is an owl.
Do you know the owl o -w -l, the bird?
Yeah its the big eyed bird. If an owl looks at you through the window, bad luck.
It's a bad omen. Be careful of bad omens.
But don't worry, although there are many bad omens, there are good omens too.
After you listen to the dialogue, I'll tell you some good omens, okay?
Oh it's 11 at night and still 40 out.
This is a bad omen.
I know! We're gonna die in this heat.
Oh, thank god we have AC!
Yeah that's the weather where I live.
Midnight. Eleven at night, you know just before midnight, it's still 40 degrees Celsius outside.
Oh boy if it's 40 degrees at night, can you imagine how hot it is during the day.
Oh, for me, that's bad.
That's too bad. Some people like the heat.
But 40 degrees at night, for me, that's a bad omen.
That means the next day's going to be hot, and I just don't like it.
Well, once again, there are lots of bad omens, but there are good omens.
And here's one you might not have heard of.
Do you know what a spider is?
Yeah, do you like spiders?
Yeah, I don't like spiders either either.
But what about little tiny spiders, really small spiders?
Did you know that if a tiny spider drops onto you, if it falls onto you from the ceiling or from a tree or from outside, if it falls onto you, it means you're going to be getting some money.
That's a good omen!
So little spiders don't kill them.
It's a really good omen.
It's true. Do you know Blackbird?
Oh yeah, yeah. If you see a Blackbird on the roof of your house, that's a good omen.
If you see two Blackbirds actually together, that's a really good omen because Blackbirds usually don't like each other.
So if you see two Blackbirds kind of sitting together kind of talking to each other, that's really good omen yeah there are lots of good omens there are lots of bad omens and please I want you to tell me a good omen or a bad omen one of each in your country okay you can do it on Twitter at coach shane coa ch sh a ne you can also leave your omens on Facebook.
Please tell me good omens and bad omens in your country alright?
I look forward to reading your omens.
You guys have a good day.
I hope nothing but good luck.
I hope many, many, many small, tiny spiders fall on you.
Sounds terrible but it's good.
Have a great day, everybody.
Listen to the Master English.

I know. We're gonna die in this heat.
