Hello, everybody. My name is Coach Shane and welcome to Easy English Expressions.
You and me every day.
Come on, let's master English.
Hello, everybody. Welcome back to daily easy English expression.
Thank you very much for listening to this podcast. Today I want to say hi to Tetsoo.
Hello, Tetsoo. Tomore gato kojaimasu.
Thank you very much for watching.
Tetsoo is one of our youngest listeners.
Tetsu -o, how old are you?
I remember Tetsu -o is one of our youngest listeners.
So Tetsu -o, I'm waiting for your age.
I'm teasing. Tetsu -o is actually, he could be my father.
Yup, and he's over there in Japan enjoying this podcast so thank you very much Tetsu -o and to everybody who is listening to today's podcast, today's podcast is in a rut.
What, I am in, a, rut.
In, i -n, the preposition, A, the letter A, the actual pronunciation of the letter A, the article A is A, but 98 .79 % of the time we say a.
So in, a, rut, R -U -T.
So first of all, what is a rut?
Well, I'll give you an easy image.
imagine it's raining outside, and the there is no sidewalk there is no road it's just dirt okay so when you walk on the dirt in the rain it leaves your footprint right you can see your shoe, right?
well imagine you are riding a bicycle, well then you're going to see a long line where your bicycle was riding, correct?
Okay so now you've got a bicycle and you're riding and it's a little bit deep right it goes down because the bicycle is heavy.
Now three days later it's dry but there's still that path of your bicycle that is a rut.
So imagine if If there's a rut, a dried rut, like a place where your bicycle tire was, and you ride your bicycle on the same path, your tires might fall into the rut, and then you are restricted.
It's very difficult to turn to the left, and turn to the right.
Do you understand what I mean?
You have to go down the exact same path.
There's no flexibility.
No left, no right, you just got to go straight.
This is what the expression means in real life.
I am in a rut. My life is the same every day.
There's no left, there's no right, I have no flexibility, I have no time, no freedom, no money to do anything.
It's just the same thing every day.
Ah yeah, it happens.
happens to everybody.
Maybe right now for you, maybe you are in a rut.
Are you married? Do you have a husband?
Do you have a wife?
Is your relationship in a rut?
It's the same thing you wake up in the morning.
You take a shower. You go to work.
You come home. You eat dinner together.
You wash dishes. You watch television.
You go to bed. You wake up.
You take a shower. You go to work.
It's It's the same thing and you have to work.
You need to make money, to save money, to pay your bills.
You're stuck in a rut.
You're in a rut. Maybe your English lesson is the same thing.
You go to an institute and it's the same book, it's the same teacher, it's the same lesson.
You're in a rut. Being in a rut, it's no fun.
But, you know, sometimes that's life!
There's nothing you can do!
There's nothing you can do sometimes.
So you have to find the joy while living in a rut.
And I found some new joy that helps me take my English lessons out of a rut.
and I'll tell you about that after you listen to the dialogue.
You don't look so happy!
Oh, I'm in a rut! Take a break from work!
Yeah, maybe a week off would help!
You bet. If you are in a rut, if you're very bored with your job, bored with life, bored with your family, Take a break.
See if you can take a break.
Take a vacation. Go some place.
Maybe start a new hobby.
Start exercising. Start listening to a different podcast. Do something.
Take a break. It doesn't mean taking a break can be a psychological break.
You can find something to keep yourself busy.
Something new, a new book.
I don't know. some new music a new genre of music So you guys know I'm an English teacher and I have my podcast. I have my daily videos I have my DDM lessons in my perf lessons and but I'm always looking for something to add to change to make it a little exciting and Yeah, today.
