English. Hello everybody, welcome back to daily easy English expression.
Today we have a very useful expression.
If you're busy. Are you sometimes busy?
Great. Then you can use this expression, listen carefully.
To be tied up with something.
I'm tied up with something.
We can just say I'm tied up, but we usually add with.
I'm tied up with something, tied up.
T I E D, tied up. U P.
To be tied up means to be busy and the nuances is you are literally tied you know with string or with a rope to something.
So for example, these days I've been tied up with making videos.
I've been tied up with my videos.
As you know, I was sick for about two weeks and oh boy, just because I'm sick doesn't mean the world stops.
So I fell behind in my lessons.
So I've been making lots and lots of videos.
videos. It's as if I were tied to my camera, and I'm shooting videos, editing videos, I'm tied to my chair right now editing videos, making this podcast, I'm tied up with my work, I'm tied up with making podcasts, I'm tied up with making videos, oh my goodness, and tomorrow, Oh, maybe not tomorrow.
Maybe on Friday. I'll be tied up with my email.
Oh I've got so much email to go through What are you tied up with these days?
What is keeping you really busy?
Let's check out a dialog You want to go watch a movie I'd like to but can't Maybe tomorrow.
Oh, I don't think I'll be able to I'm really tied up with work these days That's my situation.
I would love to watch a movie.
It would be great. I don't even know what movies are playing but I'd like to but I just don't have the time.
I don't think I'll have any time for several days at least. Maybe, maybe on Monday.
Maybe on Monday I'll have a little bit of time but until Monday, no, I'll be tied up.
I'll be tied up with lots of work.
work. So once again, are you busy these days?
Are you tied up? With what?
What is keeping you busy?
