Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Daily EZ English expression.
Today's expression is a sad word. It's a verb.
Have you ever been snubbed?
Did you ever snub anybody?
I have been snubbed.
People snubbed me. It happens.
smartphones. I don't think, well yeah, I guess I do snub some people, I try not to snub people, but I do sometimes snub.
S -N -U -B, snubbed, S -N -U -B -B -E -D, what does it mean?
To be snubbed means to be ignored.
To snub somebody means to ignore somebody.
To talk to everybody, but specifically ignore one person or a couple of people.
Oh yes, it definitely happens.
Sure, I was looking at a very famous English textbook publishing company the other day.
and they were talking about youtube channels, places to learn English and they mentioned many famous YouTube channels but they snubbed me, they snubbed my channel.
I was very disappointed.
Daily dictation, that's my big channel, that's a very popular channel.
well. So I was very sad, actually.
They snubbed me. They talked about all these other English teachers and yes, the English teachers are nice, they have a good personality but I'm sorry, they didn't have lessons like me.
Well if you ask me there are a couple of really excellent YouTube channels.
I'll tell you those after we come back but first let's listen to the dialogue.
And the Oscar goes to Tom Hays!
I can't believe they snubbed you.
I knew I wouldn't win.
But you're acting an E cubed is the greatest!
sometimes people tell me that my e -cubed dialogues are really funny and the acting is good thank you thank you very much but I know I will never receive an Academy Award I will never receive an Oscar I know the Oscar competition the The Oscar people will snub me.
That's for sure. Are you curious about which channels on YouTube I think are great for learning English?
Channels that really have English lessons?
I'm sure there are many, I'm sure there are many.
But of course, my channels are the best. daily dictation, that's youtube .com slash daily dictation, youtube .com slash coach shanes ESL and a couple others.
If you like British English, a very proper English pronunciation.
I swear English is great.
If you like a lot of different teachers who have some very good lessons that I have to say engVid is great and if you like grammar or if you need to learn grammar and grammar is so boring but it's essential then I must recommend teacher Paul at learn American English I think that's the name of his youtube channel yeah those three and once again I'm sure there might be other channels that are good.
But are they really teaching?
Is it just chit chat?
Is it just encouragement?
Is it just talk or is there really a lesson a point?
Is there a program that they're sticking to?
I don't know. Maybe they're very popular.
Many, many of the other channels are very popular, but I haven't seen any real lessons.
Yeah, I know, sometimes lessons are boring.
But sometimes they're necessary.
Anyway I don't care where you study your English.
Obviously you study with me which is wonderful, but the important thing is you have to realize to master, if your goal is to master English, it will take a long time.
It will take years.
So, it's very important that you have fun on your journey to mastering English.
