Just add Salt. Go to the store for your Salt today.
Two people claim to know everything about something, but only one knows anything.
Has it got frozen though? Or an empty gravity belt, dinosaurs had to bring?
It's hard to say the big thing Can you trust the answer From sea, neck, new jersey.
This is the Big Vib. And now here's your host, Deborah Goldstein.
Welcome to the Big Vib, the game show where kids choose between the shot shaping follow through of pin high truth and the stiffly foozled back spin of sand trap lies.
I'm your host, Deborah Goldstein, and in the studio today is our sound effects robot, Lisa, whose name is an acronym that stands for live in studio audience.
It's okay, Randy. You're gonna be just fine.
Lisa, why are you carrying your Roomba? My sweet pet Roomba Randy is under the weather, Deborah.
Oh. And I'm not sure which wrong with her, but she's just not zipping around the floor with the same kind of zest for life.
Or for dustballs, she usually does. I'm sorry to hear that.
Maybe she needs to be recharged for a little bit.
I tried that, Deborah, but she's still really dragging.
And every now and then she starts coughing too.
See all there there, Randy. Let me just pat you on the back and try to help clear that cop.
Okay. Oh, there you go. Poor thing. I made an appointment with customer care after the show.
So I Oh, Randy. Oh, that sounds painful.
Whoa! Look at that! Is that it? It's a Rice Krispie treat, Debra.
I was looking for that. It must have fallen off my lap while I was eating an entire pan of Rice Krispie treats.
I bet you feel much better, Randy, don't you?
I'll just put you back on the floor, buddy, and you can be on your way.
Fly away, little Roomba. Fly and be free.
Wow, I'm so glad she's feeling better. But I do want to take this moment to tell anyone listening.
Please do not hit your Roomba on the back.
Yeah, you need to leave that to the professionals like other robots.
I am just so relieved. And now that Randy is doing her thing, I can do my thing.
Uh, which is what? What's my thing, Deborah?
How about playing a listener question? Can do, scuba doo.
Here we go. My name is Harniazza, and I live in Kingston, Ontario.
I have a question for Lisa. Do you have a favorite video game?
And what is it? And if you could jump into that video game, why would you?
Jump into a video game. Well, well, that's a great idea, Deborah.
And it's a new brainer, Candy Crush. Here I come!
And dare I ask why you would jump into Candy Crush?
Yeah, a couple of reasons, Candy. Handy and more candy.
Obviously candy, Deborah. I see. I see. Okay.
Okay. Well, well, if you had to choose another game to jump into, that wasn't all about candy, what would it be?
Not about candy. Why would they make a game like that?
Okay. Let me just think. Oh, yep. Jump into cookie clicker cookies.
Okay fair enough all right then I think we can move on from virtual suites to the real life sweet pursuit of truth truth I'd rather have candy and cookies all right well we're gonna focus on reality for now so can you please let everyone know how our game works sure we're gonna put it down all right Sorry about that.
Where are we? Oh yeah, every week we bring on two grown-ups.
One is an expert. The other is a liar. It's the job of a human child.
Help us figure out who is who. Because we have this theory here that no one can spot a liar better than a kid.
What? Oh, lying about today. Deborah Goldstein.
We are lying about gold. A sport where the player uses clubs to hit a small ball into a series of holes in the fewest attempts possible.
And we're going to learn all about golf, along with our contestant today.
Who might that be, Lisa? Our human child contestant is a 10-year-old who goes to German school here in the United States.
Sorry, Chris. Wow, welcome, Tori. How are you?
I'm good. Thank you. Does he scoot? Yeah.
Look, that's all I know. Do you know anything else in German that would be fun to say anything about robots or podcasts or golf?
Is that a nice thing? Was that a nice thing?
I hope it was a nice thing. Yeah. What was it?
This is the best robot in the world. Hey, Debra, I found a new host.
Well, maybe Tori can host the German version of our show.
That's good idea. I think that would be good.
Awesome. And have you been to Germany, Tori?
No, I haven't. You haven't. Not yet, anyway.
Not yet. Very good. And do you enjoy German school?
Yeah. And... I'd like to do a shout out to my teacher, Pho Vaxo, and my class, 5C at JSSV.
Excellent shout out everybody! That was very nice of you.
This has been a big big shout out! I'm sure they appreciate it.
That's super nice. Love it. Well, we do want to learn some more about you, Tori, but we're going to do it big fib style by playing our game two truths and a lie.
So you, Tori, are going to tell us two truths and one lie, but we will not know which is which.
And we will have to use our noggin, our brains and also our hearts and our guts to try to figure out which is which.
So Tori, in no particular order, please tell us your two truths and one lie.
My favorite animal is a snow leopard. I've been to a national park and I've never traveled out of the US.
Interesting. Well played, mixing up travel and animals, a good liar would always try to throw you off guard by mixing up topics and confusing you.
I like it. What do you think Lisa? All right, so somebody's playing 4D chess.
I appreciate it, Tori. So Tori told us earlier in the episode that she's never been to Germany, right?
So we're starting to think, Maybe this thing about never traveling out of the United States is true.
Maybe. But I looked it up yesterday and there are three other countries other than Germany.
So she could have gone to one of those other three countries.
She says she's been to a national park. Yes, that's what she said.
Well, that sounds true because national parks, they're a real hoot.
This last one is obviously the line. My favorite animal is a snow leopard.
There's no such thing as snow leopards. Leopards are animals.
They're not made out of snow. So nice try.
She's thinking of snowmen, which is not even an animal.
Yeah, there's no such thing as a snow leopard.
So it can't be her favorite animal. Therefore, I win the money.
I see. Well, I'm just going to let that slide because it's not worth explaining.
So I'm going to ask Tori, which of those is actually your lie?
He says, correct. My favorite animal is not a snow leopard.
They are, in fact, real. They used to be my favorite animal, but currently my favorite animals are frogs.
Frogs, what did the snow leopard do to you that it's not your favorite animal anymore?
Well, what they did is not be real. They are real.
It's not something that the snow leopards did.
It's something that the frogs did. Oh, what did they did?
They threatened me. The frogs threatened you and said, we'd better be your favorite animal.
Not really. Very good. So the frog is your new favorite animal.
You've never traveled outside of the US.
That is true. I have never traveled outside of the US.
Sadly. Soon, I'm sure it's coming. But you have been to a national park.
And just one, which one was it? Was it awesome?
I don't actually completely remember all of it.
I was like three or four at the time. But it was crater like beautiful.
I bet it was beautiful. I bet there are photos.
Yeah, I bet everyone has a lot of pictures.
Beautiful. There are a lot of national parks.
So you might not have been outside of the US yet, but not everybody in the US has been to a national park.
So that's pretty cool. I hope you have much travel in your future as well.
I think you will do very well in this game, even though Lisa guessed your lie was for very peculiar reasons.
So I think you still will be able to figure out who's lying based on how you delivered your lie.
So on that note, we're going to be learning all about golf.
Do you know much about golf, Tori? I didn't before I learned that the topic was golf, then I did a lot of research.
Oh, I see. Okay, we have a wringer here.
Somebody who has been studying and researching golf.
Well, let's let them do their best and see who is going to sound more like the golf expert.
So can we welcome our golf experts with some welcome music Lisa?
Sure. One, two, a one, two, three, four!
Come on in. I like it. I like it. Short but effective.
Our first expert is Cindy Olibera. Cindy, please introduce yourself to Tori.
Hi, Tori. My name is Cindy, and I'm a professional golfer.
Thank you, Cindy. Let's meet our second expert, Noah Van Lohan.
Noah, please introduce yourself to Tori.
Hi, Tori. I'm Noah, and I'm the president of Interbait Golf Club in Seattle, Washington.
OK. Tell us about the tune you've tapped in, Lisa.
It's the two-chap and tune of Hotty Time!
Yes, it's Hotty Time, and that's when we put our experts on the hot seat while they answer Tori's questions.
Lisa, who should we put on the hot seat first?
This is a real tough one, Debra, because both these names are very fun to say.
You could say, hello, I am Cindy Oliveira.
Or you could say, hello, I am Noah Van Luan.
Let me just think, I'm going to go with the first one so I can say, I am Cindy Oliver.
Nice, I like it. OK, Tori, what is your first question for Cindy Olibera?
Oliver. Tell me what you do every day, and what is your favorite part?
My days usually start with a workout, and I focus on flexibility and strength.
And then I have breakfast and go and meet my coach Brian and he runs me through some drills and we work on any issues I've been having in the afternoon.
I'll play a practice round or if it's a tournament week, I'll spend some time studying the course and strategizing any of the holes.
I'm a little bit more concerned about very nice.
Oh, and my favorite part, anytime that I can play with my friends because golf is a very solitary sport and it can get a little bit lonely.
So any chance I get to share it with others, especially some of my golf friends that I don't get to see very often, I love to put in a practice round with them.
Thank you very much. Noah, what inspired you to start your job?
I've always been enthralled with the sport of golf, like Cindy said, it is a solitary sport, but it's something that you get a chance to compete against, not just with the golf course and the weather conditions, but yourself as well.
You're mental, you're emotional and you're spiritual.
It fills all the boxes for me and I love the sport.
Now I have a question for both of you. What is the funniest story you have from your job?
I've been playing golf for a very long time.
So since I was a kid, I've seen over 20 hole in ones.
I've never made one myself. But my funniest story was that I saw a hole in one where my playing partner hit his ball onto the green.
It hit somebody else's ball that was already on the green and it bounced from there into the hole for a hole in one.
Oh, did it count? It does count. Wow. The other person gets to put their ball back to where it was so they are not impacted by the shot.
But yes, if it bounces off of anything, it goes in the hole.
It's still a hole in one. Interesting. Thank you very much.
And that question is also for Cindy. Is that right, Tori?
Yes. So I'm not sure if mine is quite as exciting as that.
I've never heard of anything like that happening.
But during one tournament, I think it was at Augusta.
I had spent so long lining up a pot. It felt like it was forever.
And as soon as I went in for the stroke, a squirrel started right across the green.
And it had been so dead, quiet, and everybody burst out laughing.
And we had to reset the whole thing. those squirrels.
I'm shaking my fist at them. I'm gesturing for them to come over so I can hug them.
I know you like the squirrels. I will come a little bit.
Okay, Dorie, back to you. Could you both answer this question?
What advice would you give a kid who wanted to do your job?
My advice to a kid who wants to get into this line of work is to start out and just remember that this is a game.
It's fun and you can't take it too seriously.
Oh, okay. I absolutely agree with that. And I would also say that whenever you get the chance, play with people who are better than you.
It might hurt your ego a little bit at first.
It might be a little bit tough, but you can learn so much just by observing more experienced players and people who have been around longer.
Also, if you can, get a part-time job at a golf course.
That was my very first job and I could play for free whenever I wanted, so I got lots of practice in.
Good advice. Very good. I have one more question for you, Cindy.
What is one thing people get wrong about golf?
I think a lot of people think that golf isn't very physically demanding because it can be seen as pretty slow paced and a lot of older people play golf, but it really does take a lot of physical conditioning and stamina, especially to play at a professional level.
One last question for Noah, what golf clubs do recommend or use?
Well, I think that's a very personal question.
And what I mean by that is it is specific to every golfer.
So a golfer with a certain swing speed or even height or ability would benefit from a different set of golf clubs than somebody else who might be just starting out.
So I think that it is important to talk to somebody who knows the game of golf and help you get fit for a set of clubs that really work for you.
Great questions, Tori, and I hope you picked up a few bits of information that might help you pick our fibber, but there's still time and another segment to go, another round of questions and answers in our shorts on buyer section.
This show was brought to you by Cucumbers.
Lisa here from the big fib talking to you about cucumbers.
Did you know that cats are scared of cucumbers?
I heard if you place a cucumber behind a cat while it's eating, they totally freak out when they see it.
I once saw it on YouTube. You can buy cucumbers at the store while you're out getting all that other stuff you actually want.
Cucumbers, great for humans, but terrible for cats.

It's time for the shorts on fire around when our experts have to answer as many questions as they can before time runs out.
Lisa will set a timer for our first expert and then Tori will ask questions until Lisa's timer sounds.
Then Lisa resets the timer for our next expert to do the same.
Experts, tee up for some fast swing answers.
All right, Tori, we're going to start with Cindy.
You could ask your short on fire questions now.
What a golfer's wear gloves for a better grip.
Look cool. King of dreams the second band golf in 1457 because he wanted people to spend more time practicing which sport.
Jousting which club do you use to hit a ball in a very high arc? a five iron.
Who's the youngest player to qualify for the U.S.
GA amateur championship at the age of 10?
Ms. L. We West. What is it called when you redo a bad shot without taking a penalty?
A mall again. Oopsie. No. Which astronaut played golf on the moon in 1971?
Scott Kelly. Factor 5. Mary Queen of Scots was the first person to use the term caddy for her assistant.
False. What country in glove is known as the birthplace of the birdie?
The Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey.
Golf was first included in the Olympics in what year?
1900. On average female golfers earned what percentage of what male golfers earned?
30%. And that is time. All right, Lisa, would you be so kind as to reset the timer?
Uh, timer timer, yep. Timer is reset. Fantastic.
I think you ever so much. All right, Tori, you can ask Noah, your shorts on fire questions now.
How old is golf? Golf dates back for 600 years.
How much did the winner of the player's championship win in 2024?
I don't know more than I did. How far do golfers walk during an 18 Morgan?
Usually about six to seven miles. In the 1600s, what were golf balls called that were made out of leather and stuff with feathers?
They were called featheries. How many dimples are on a golf ball?
A lot? About three to five hundred. And they're so cute.
What do golfers yell to warn others of a flying ball?
They yell. Or... We're in the United States.
Can we find the devil's golf course? I don't know.
I've never played there. Who is the youngest master's champion ever?
That's a great question. I don't know. Factor 5.
A golf hole is born a quarter inches wide because that was the size of the Palmer's pipe used to make the hole.
That actually is correct. That is time! It's all the time!
Excellent. Asking. Pretty good answering.
Experts. Very good. It's decision time.
Tori must cut through any penalties and get a whiff of possible lies.
What do you think Tori, who is our Fiverr?
I think Noah is the fifth earth. Why do you think Noah is our fifth earth?
Mostly because everything that Cindy thought is correct and there are a few things that Noah said that I don't think are 100% correct.
Hey, paying close attention I see. Alright, well let's find out if you are correct.
Will the actual golf expert please say, I am the golf expert.
I, Noah, and the golf expert. Oh, yeah. But that is correct.
Noah Van Lohan is the president of the Inter Bay Golf Club in Seattle, Washington, and a member of the Board of Directors for Washington Golf.
But we're going to get to the bottom of all of these things, Tori, because there was some pretty good fibbing going on here, and that made it very difficult, I agree.
So let's do some fact checking. No, without being too caddy, point out some of Cindy's subpar information.
Well, to my knowledge, Scott Kelly was not the astronaut that hit the ball on the moon.
That was Alan Shepard. Correct. And if you wanted to hit a ball high with a high arc, you would use a wedge and not a five iron.
Okay, very good. Any other things? Well, it is also archery that the king was banning golf in favor for, not jousting.
Right, he did that so that people could practice archery more and focus more on archery than golf.
Very interesting. Very good. Well, Cindy, over to you.
Can you please share with us the irony of your lies?
Sure. So Noah called out a lot of them.
There was also the factor fit Mary Queen of Scots was the first person to use the term caddy.
That is actually true. That is true. That's right.
Supposedly from the word cadet. Yes, very good.
And the country club, that's the birthplace of the birdie.
I also got that one wrong. That's correct.
The country club was the Atlantic City Country Club.
So apparently during around in 1903, Abner, AKA Ab Smith launched a long approach shot.
And it was really, really good. And the result caused one of the group's members in the group playing golf to exclaim that it was a bird of a shot.
I guess that was a really positive thing to say at the time.
And then it just stuck. Still is. It still is.
Apparently so. Yeah, it has a bird of a shot.
But a little fact that I need to share, sadly, also is that according to sporting intelligence, on average, female golfers earn one percent. of what male golfers earn, which is a sad, sad fact indeed.
And just for Noah's information, some of these trickier questions here, the winner of the Players Championship in 2024 won $4.5 million.
That was Scotty Scheffler. You passed on who was the youngest master's champion ever that would have been Tiger Woods at 21 years old.
And also, the Devil's Golf Course is actually not a golf course at all.
There is a part of Death Valley National Park that is called the Devil's Golf Course because only the Devil could play golf on such rough links. apparently it was it's just a really harsh terrain made up of rock salt eroded by wind and rain into jagged spires so it looks like the devil's golf course so no you wouldn't have played their Noah so it was a little bit of a trick question.
Okay, so does that sort of clear things up for you, Tori?
Yeah. It does now we see, but that was a tough one though.
I have to admit I was with you there. So we had a whole lot of fun today.
Thanks to our contestant Tori for putting the truth first.
