📋 Summary

A Transformative Journey: From Family Reunions to a New Chapter

Returning from an eight-day trip that felt like an "unbelievable two weeks," I find myself navigating a transition back to reality with a profound shift in perspective. This journey was not merely a vacation; it was a life-altering experience where I returned as a "new person" and part of a "new couple." The most significant milestone of this trip was my engagement to Avery, a moment that has fundamentally changed my outlook on our future together.

The Netherlands: Roots, Reunions, and a Surprise Proposal

The first leg of our trip brought us to the Netherlands, the place of my birth. This portion of the journey was deeply personal, centered on "catching up with family" and allowing Avery to connect with my roots—meeting my grandparents, childhood friends, and extended relatives. We stayed in The Hague, a city of historical significance, and revisited my hometown of Volendam. Sharing nostalgic experiences, such as introducing my family to traditional Dutch delicacies like "smoked eel," "herring," and "frikandel," provided a heartwarming backdrop to the trip.

However, the highlight was undoubtedly the surprise proposal. While I was under the impression that we were visiting a tulip festival to accommodate family plans, Avery had orchestrated a secret proposal. Despite my "very simple practical outfit" and the chaotic morning of sleeping through my alarm, the moment was perfect. Avery’s decision to hire a photographer to capture the "raw emotions" of that day was a thoughtful touch, ensuring we have tangible memories of the exact moment our lives changed. The day concluded with a private boat tour through the Amsterdam canals, a celebration that left me feeling "so loved and appreciated."

Portugal: Embracing the "Go-With-The-Flow" Lifestyle

If the Netherlands was about family, Portugal was the "actual vacation portion" of our trip. Staying at Villa Belaya in the Algarve, we enjoyed a balance of privacy and togetherness. What struck me most about Portugal was the ease of life; we avoided over-planning, choosing instead to "go with the flow." Whether it was waking up early to find surf spots, driving to hidden beaches nestled beneath dramatic cliffs, or exploring the "authentic little towns" with their narrow, charming streets, the experience was refreshingly spontaneous.

Our days were filled with breathtaking sights, from lookout points atop cliffs to hidden sea caves, and of course, incredible cuisine. We indulged in local favorites, including daily Aperol spritzes, "port and tonic" cocktails, and the unforgettable "sardine paste" served as part of the traditional couvert. The quality of the food and the laid-back atmosphere of the region made it one of my "favorite vacations" to date.

Looking Toward the Future

As I settle back into my life in the States, I am filled with excitement for the journey ahead. Sharing this news with my audience—who have followed my growth from my early modeling days to building a home with Avery—feels incredibly special. I am eager to document my transition into the role of a bride and continue sharing our life together. This trip was more than just a getaway; it was the start of a beautiful new chapter, and I am grateful to have such a supportive community to join me on this ride.
