Psst, Hey, Wowzer fans.
Mindy and Guy Raz here.
And before we start the show, it's almost summertime.
And you know what that means.
It's almost time for my annual summer re -watch of the 26 hour long docuseries on the history of whales.
Sure, Guy Raz. But I was actually thinking about summer road trips.
Oh, that's right. Wowzers, if your family has some summer road trips coming up, take a pit stop to find some wow.
We've teamed up with our friends at Geocaching HQ, the Aspen Institute and The Nature Conservancy to create Planet Wow, an epic geocaching eco -adventure that shares the wow's of places on our Earth and encourages curious kids like you to become the next generation of climate crusaders.
We've sent out Planet Wow trading cards to members of our world organization of wowsers to plant in a geocache near them.
And you can check and see if one of those cards are in a geocache near you at tinkercast .com slash planetwow.
There, you can also find the location of our official Planetwow geocaches.
And if there aren't any trading cards nearby your route, print yours at home and plant them in a geocache along the ride.
We have printable cards available on our website, tinkercast .com slash PlanetWow.
We can't wait to hear what you find on your eco -adventures this summer.
Leave us a video or audio message about places in your world that wow you for a chance to be featured on an upcoming episode of WOW in the World.
That's it! And now let's get back to the show.

Two what's, two what's.
Two what's, two what's.
Two what's, two what's.
Two what's. And a what.
Hello and welcome to Two What's in a Wow.
Two what's in a wow.
The scientific game show that separates the wow's from the what's.
And the category or theme for today is bees.
Mindy, why don't you refresh our contestants on how the game works?
You know it, Guy Raz.
Wowsers, in each of our three rounds today, Guy Raz and I will present you with three scientific statements about bees.
But, this is a big but, only one of those statements will be a true wow.
The other two, just a couple of made up, what?
Now in each round, if you guess correctly, congratulations, you win a point.
But if you guess incorrectly, you must stop, drop, and do a ridonkulous physical challenge.
OK, everyone ready to get this show going?
Great, then let's get to it.
Round one, which of the following statements is a true scientific wow?
Is it A, some bees have six wings?
Or is it B, bees make a buzzing sound that comes from their backside?
Or is it C? Bees can taste with their feet.
When you think you have the correct answer make a buzzing sound of your own.
Ah Reggie… Can we get some thinking music?
And time is up. let's now reveal the winning wow.
And to do just that, it's Evie from Ontario.
Evie, tell us. What's the winning wow?
Hello. My wonder world is bees taste with their feet.
Winner, winner, foot food for dinner.
Thank you, Evie. Contestants, if you guessed the answer c, that bees can taste with their feet.
Well, congratulations.
you found the winning wow.
Honey bees have teeny tiny hair -like sensors called sensilla on their mouths, antennas, and their legs.
Scientists call the end of bee legs tarsi.
And bees use the taste buds on their tarsi to decide whether or not something is worth feeding on.
Isn't that cool? I can hold my fork with my toes.
Not the same thing, but good to know, Midi.
If you did not get that answer correct, You must stop, drop, and try to peel a banana with your feet.
Okay, round two. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow?
Is it A, some bees are blue?
Or is it B, some bee species are totally hairless?
Or is it C, all bees are nocturnal?
Hmm, lots to think about here.
Well, when you think you have the correct answer, find a flower and sit on it.
And time is up. And joining us by phone, it's Leo from Florida with our winning wow.
Hi, Minnie and Grandma.
My woe in the road is that there's such a thing as blue bees.
Winner winner, blue bees for dinner.
Thank you, Leo. Wowsers, if you guessed A, that some bees are blue, well, congratulations.
You found the winning woe.
Some bees have special scales that reflect light to make them appear blue, kind of like a peacock's feathers.
And it's not just a single species.
there are several different kinds of blue bees in different places around the world.
Like a blue carpenter bee, a blue sweat bee, and the blue orchard mason bee.
Now if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and sing a blues song!
And now it's time to take a moment to thank our sponsors.
Today's show is brought to you in part by Carpenter Bees!
Carpenter Bees are often confused with Bumble Bees because they look a lot alike.
But you can tell them apart from regular bumblebees because they wear little tool belts with little teeny tiny hammers.
Actually that's not true at all.
They have a shinier belly than regular bees, but even though they're named after people who work with wood, carpenter bees don't actually build anything.
They just make these weird little holes in wooden structures so they can build nests.
But on the plus side, only female carpenter bees can actually sting, and they rarely do.
They're more interested in chewing through wood.
All right. Thank you, carpenter bees.
Now, let's take a quick break and hear some other important messages for grown -ups.
Two what's in a while.
We'll be right back.
Grown -ups, this message is for you.

Welcome back to 2 What's and a Wow?
Two What's and a Wow?
The scientific game show that separates the wow's from the what's.
And now we're on to our final round of questions, round 3.
Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow?
Is it A. female bees have bigger antennae than male bees?
Or is it B? Worker bees have a union called Pollinator's Local 101.
Or is it C? Bees have five eyes.
Take a second to think this over, and when you think you have the correct answer, use your fingers to make little antennas on your head.
And time is up! And joining us by phone with the answer, its Ameria from Illinois.
Ameria, Winner, winner, extra eye drops for dinner!
Great job, Amearia.
Wowzers, if you guessed C that bees have five eyes, well, congratulations, you've found the winning wow.
It's true. Bees do have five eyes.
Two big ones on the sides of their head, and three small eyes up on top.
The two big eyes are called compound eyes and have multiple lenses that are used for seeing shapes and colors and finding their way home.
The three little eyes are called ocelli and bees use them to help navigate and stay right side up while they're flying.
Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and try to find a flower with your eyes closed.
What was that? Oh, Guy Roz, that sound can mean only one thing.
Tell me you didn't bring an actual beehive into the studio.
What?! Of course I didn't bring an actual beehive into the studio, Guy Ross.
Who could? I brought fifty actual beehives.
It's time for today's winning Wowsers Prize.
And today, all of our contestants will receive their very own personal.
You can't shoot beehives into the audience.
I know, Guy Ross, but I can shoot honey.
100 % authentic, fresh -off -the -comb honey.
Just for you. Reggie, cue the prize cannon!
Oh, boy. Fire away!
