📋 Summary

Exploring Thailand's Coastal Paradise: A Curated Top 10

Christian LeBlanc, an experienced traveler with years of exploration across Southeast Asia, presents a comprehensive guide to the top 10 beaches in Thailand. This list balances iconic, bustling tourist hotspots with hidden gems that offer privacy and pristine natural beauty.

The Popular Hotspots: Party and Spectacle

At the lower end of the ranking, LeBlanc highlights beaches that are famous but often crowded. Koh Phi Phi (Number 10) is described as the ultimate "party island," perfect for those seeking nightlife but not for a "quiet or romantic getaway." Similarly, Maya Bay (Number 9) is lauded as "the most beautiful beach in all of Thailand," though its fame, bolstered by Leonardo DiCaprio's film The Beach, often leads to overwhelming crowds. Sairi Beach on Koh Tao (Number 3) earns its spot not for its natural purity—as it can be "a little bit dirty"—but because it "comes to life" at night with vibrant bars and fire shows.

Landscapes and Hidden Gems

For those seeking breathtaking scenery, Rayleigh (Number 6) offers landscapes that look like they were "taking a page right out of Avatar." Despite the heavy tourism, it remains a premier destination for rock climbing. Meanwhile, Koh Nang Yuen (Number 7) provides a "spectacular view" that outweighs the inconvenience of crowds and entry fees. For travelers desperate to escape the masses, Ko Yau Yai and Ko Yau Noi (Number 5) are highly recommended. These islands near Phuket offer a "private beach" experience where visitors can enjoy the freedom of renting a scooter and exploring without the typical tourist congestion.

The Quest for Pristine Perfection

As the list nears the top, the focus shifts to exclusivity and untouched beauty:

  • Ko Nagai (Number 4): Recalled as one of the most "pristine beaches" with "clear blue water," it offers a tranquil escape, often visited via day trips.
  • Koh Kud (Number 2): Featuring a beach at the Soneva resort that LeBlanc calls "what dreams were made of." While it is a "groomed" and "premium" beach rather than a wild, natural one, its aesthetic perfection makes it an ideal spot for a "romantic getaway."
  • Koh Kam (Number 1): The ultimate winner. Located a short boat ride from the "sleeper island" of Koh Mak, Koh Kam is a privately owned sanctuary. It "ticked off every box" for the perfect beach: "incredible, fine white sands, the clearest of blue waters," and a sense of being "disconnected from the rest of the world."

Travel Advice and Resources

LeBlanc emphasizes that while Thailand's popularity brings crowds, strategic planning—such as visiting during off-peak hours or exploring less-traveled islands like Koh Mak—can significantly enhance the experience. For those looking to streamline their planning, he suggests his website, getlosstravels.com, which offers a detailed travel guide covering everything from packing essentials to a chronological itinerary of Thailand’s diverse offerings, including the northern elephants and the vibrant city of Bangkok.

Ultimately, whether you are looking for the high-energy nightlife of Koh Tao or the secluded, crystal-clear waters of Koh Kam, Thailand offers a diverse range of coastal experiences for every type of traveler.

What's up guys?
My name is Christian LeBlanc and for about the past two and a half years I've been traveling all around Southeast Asia.
I've pretty much visited every country and of which Thailand has to be in my top three.
Now, there's one thing that keeps me coming back to Thailand, and that is the incredible beaches, and today I wanted to put together a video of my top 10 choices of the best beaches in all of Thailand, starting with number 10.
Number 10 is a beach that I'm a little embarrassed to admit is in my top 10, but Koh Phi Phi is a truly beautiful island.
It's just a little bit overpopulated.
