In response, authorities are taking action. On September 24th, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a draft requiring that exterior door handles must allow for "manual operation under all conditions," including power failure. Furthermore, at the 2025 World NCAP Conference in Shanghai, global leaders emphasized that safety must remain the priority. Manufacturers are responding by focusing on "passive safety technologies," such as Honda’s "Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE)" body structure, which utilizes high-strength and aerospace-grade steel to protect occupants and the battery pack from deformation.

Ultimately, while "drones on the roof" or spacious frunks are exciting, the industry must navigate the "tightrope" of balancing futuristic innovation with fundamental safety. As the market matures, the challenge for EV makers will be proving that these technological advancements do not compromise the most basic requirement of any vehicle: the protection of its passengers.
