Listen for the sounds Listen listen listen Hello Hello, Hello.
Hello.
Listen, everyone.
Listen and play.
Where are we today?
We're outside.
In a field.
Yes, we're outside in a big field full of buttercups.
It's time to listen all around.
Do you know what makes this sound?
It's a stream.
Burble bubble.
That's the sound of a small stream as it bubbles and splashes over the stones.
Listen and play again.
What sound is this?
It's the sound of hooves.
Yes, they're hooves.
But they're not horses' hooves.
It's a smaller animal.
Can you tell what it is by listening to the sound it makes?
What animal is this?
Listen.
It's some goats.
Perhaps you thought it was a sheep.
Goats sound very like sheep when they bleat.
Today's song is about some goats.
It's called The Goats Came Marching.
Join in and sing along with me.
The goats came marching one by one.
Hurrah!
Hurrah!
The goats came marching one by one.
Hurrah!
Hurrah!
The goats came marching one by one.
The little one stopped to bask in the sun.
Then they all came marching over the rickety bridge.
The goats came marching two by two.
Hurrah!
Hurrah!
The goats came marching two by two.
Hurrah!
Hurrah!
The goats came marching two by two.
The little one stopped to look at the view.
Then they all came marching over the rickety bridge.
The goats came marching three by three.
Hurrah!
Hurrah!
The goats came marching three by three.
Hurrah!
Hurrah!
The goats came marching three by three.
The little one stopped to sit by a tree.
Then they all came marching over the rickety bridge.
Rickety bridge.
Listen, listen, listen, it's rhyme time.
Today's rhyme is about some goats and the different sounds they make going over a bridge.
Listen.
Trippity-trip went little billy goat over the rickety bridge.
Trottity-trot went middle billy goat Over the rickety bridge.
Trampety Tramp went big, Billy Goat.
Over the rickety bridge.
Listen, listen, listen, it's story time.
Today's story is all about three different billy goats and a naughty old troll who lives under a rickety bridge.
Shh!
Listen!
Listen!
The story's called... The Three Billy Goats Gruff.
Once upon a summer time there were three billy goats gruff.
There was big brave brown billy goat gruff who had horns and was tough.
There was middle grey billy goat and there was little white billy goat.
They all lived in a field next to a bubbling, burbling stream.
Bubble, bubble, bubble.
Now, over the stream there was a rickety bridge, and on the far side of the rickety bridge was a field of gorgeously green, green grass.
It was the greenest, juiciest grass the goats had ever seen.
The three billy goats gruff looked at the field on the other side of the stream.
Then little white billy goat said, It's green grass, supreme grass, the best I've ever seen grass.
So he decided to cross the bridge.
Over he went with a trip track.
Trip, trap, trip, trap.
But halfway across the rickety bridge, a naughty troll appeared.
He was a funny-looking troll with a huge nose, a great fat belly, and a face like a squashed banana.
And he said, This bridge belongs to me.
Do not cross it or I'll scuff you for my tea.
Little White Billy Goat Gruff was quite scared, so he said, Oh, don't eat me.
Wait a bit for soon there'll be someone much, much bigger than me.
So the troll let little Billy Goat pass over the rickety bridge.
Over he went with a trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap.
Next, middle grey Billy Goat looked at the field of grass on the other side of the stream.
And he said, It's green grass.
Supreme grass!
The best I've ever seen grass!
And he decided to cross the bridge.
So over he went with a trip-trap, trip-trap, trip-trap.
But halfway across, the naughty troll appeared again and he said, This bridge belongs to me.
Do not cross it, or I'll scoff you for my tea.
Middle Grey Billy Goat Gruff was quite scared, but still he replied, Oh, don't eat me.
Wait a bit, for soon there'll be someone much, much bigger than me.
The Naughty Troll looked at Middle Grey Billy Goat and let him pass to the field of green grass.
Over the bridge he went with a trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap.
Now only Big Brown Brave Billy Goat Gruff was left.
He looked at the field on the other side of the stream and he said It's green grass, supreme grass, the best I've ever seen grass.
And he decided to cross the rickety bridge too.
So over he went with a trip.
But he was only halfway across when the naughty troll appeared again and said This bridge belongs to me.
Do not cross it or I'll stuff you for my tea.
But big, brave Billy Goat Gruff was strong and he was tough, and he wasn't scared at all.
He replied, I'm not afraid of you, naughty Mr. Troll.
How about a nice big roll down the banks of the stream?
That will make you scream and scream.
Then Big Billy Goat Gruff charged at the troll with a boof.
And he boofed the troll off the rickety bridge and on to the riverbank.
The naughty troll rolled down and down and down and down.
Landing in the stream with a gigantic splash.
And the naughty troll sank down and down and down to the very bottom of the river.
Glug, glug, glug.
Finally, Big Brown, Brave Billy Goat, Gruff went to join Middle Grey Billy Goat and Little White Billy Goat by crossing over the bridge to the green green grass.
Over he went with a trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap.
And that's where all three billy goats gruff stayed.
There they scoffed and they played with fun, food and laughter, living happily ever after.
Meh, meh.
Our last song is all about the three billy goats and the naughty old troll.
Sway in time to the music and freeze when you hear the troll's voice.
Slip, slap, slip.
Slap the river sliding by.
But the naughty old troll under the bridge never opens an eye.
Never opens an eye.
Trip, trap, trip, trap.
Three goats are tripping by.
Now the naughty old troll under the bridge calls out with a terrible cry.
Who's that going over my bridge?
But the goats go tripping on by.
Later you could talk about the billy goat story with your teacher.
I wonder how much of it you can remember.
Join me again soon when we can listen and play together.
Bye!
