My name's Josh.
I'm the co-host of The Imperfects and I'd like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional owners of the land on which this podcast is recorded.
Well, summer continues, and we just love summer.
I'll just give Hugh a moment to get off his phone.
Just doing my hair because occasionally when we do these episodes, I just sit down and talk.
Same.
It's pretty consistent for me too.
No, but then I'll see the videos on YouTube or on Instagram and I'll go, why don't I do my hair?
Yeah, I do think that.
Sometimes we'll record and then I'll go to the bathroom afterwards and I'll see what I look like.
I'm like, how did no one tell me?
I'm worried about myself.
Yes, I was watching a video that George cut before and it was brilliant and the whole time I was thinking I looked Terrible.
No, you look great.
You always do.
You look really good.
Super sexy.
Like super sexy.
Right.
Yeah, and I don't throw super sexy around that much.
I've never heard you throw it around.
Yeah, it's actually the first time.
Cool.
It hasn't felt right until right now.
Does it feel right now?
It does feel right now.
It feels good to me too.
Okay, so these are our...
Super sexy summer eps, recently rebranded.
And we are on a little bit of a break.
We're recording these in November of last year.
But we're assuming we're having a great time and the weather's beautiful.
We're playing beach cricket.
Everything's – and we're assuming you're doing the same.
And what we thought we'd do until we come back for our proper show, the return, the new season in February –.
We're grabbing a few moments, some of our favorite moments from our subscriber-only show, which many of you might not know about.
We have a subscriber show called A Little More Imperfects.
There are two episodes we release every month.
Brand new show, completely separate show, bit of fun, bit of vulnerability.
If you want to... have a look at a little more Imperfects.
If you want to subscribe, you can do that through Patreon at patreoncom and just search for the Imperfects.
Or you can do it through Apple Podcasts.
Yeah.
So Penny, if you're listening which you may not be but she just kept saying to me I want to listen, but I don't understand Patreon.
Okay.
Yeah.
I just don't get it.
Yeah.
And so Penny, you just type in Patreon on your app search and it will come up.
You download it.
And then once it's downloaded, you type in Imperfects.
Yeah, so that's true.
You can do it through the app as well.
Do it through the website or the app.
There's different ways.
It is really simple once you're in the thing and you can comment on the shows.
You can chat to other subscribers.
You can chat to us.
You get access to tickets for our events earlier than ever.
You get a discount on our merch and stuff.
The odd zany video might pop up.
Yeah, that's true.
You do get the odd zany video.
We might post.
Yeah.
But this particular... I'm going to do more zany videos this year.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah.
Cool.
All right.
I'm going to chuck them in there.
Is that a promise?
I'm not sure a zany video from me will get them across the line.
It's just...
You never know.
But it's an added feature.
It's an added feature.
What?
It's an added feature.
I call it an added Venus, which is a weird thing.
Yeah, it sure is.
It's a mixture of bonus and feature, I guess.
Venus is the worst word I've ever heard in my life.
It's gross.
It's disgusting.
Yeah, it isn't even anything, but we know it's something.
Yeah.
We don't quite know what it is, but we have a fairly good idea.
And it feels like we need a trigger warning on this app now.
Yeah.
There will be mentions of phoenuses.
Yeah.
Fun activity.
Draw a phoenus.
We all draw a phoenus.
That's a great activity.
Oh, yeah.
What is it?
That is great.
Okay.
That's the kind of stuff we'd do on A Little More Imperfect.
Okay.
That's a great thing on Patreon because you'd have to go through Patreon to get this.
The three of us, actually, we should all do it.
Bridge, George, Bella.
We will all draw- A phoenix.
What we think a phoenix looks like and we will post the results on Patreon.
Wow.
I feel disgusting just even.
Anyway.
Yeah, but this is a sort of super sexy content.
On a little more imperfect.
Okay, let's get to what we're actually here for.
Not a sexy episode, though, just from this point on.
It's not.
It's pure supernatural from here on in.
But for some people, like Josh, it's a bit silly.
It is.
So I absolutely believe in ghosts and I believe that you're haunted by ghosts and Josh does not.
Josh has gone down the gaslighting path.
Just the realistic skeptical path.
I've gone down the believe my friend path.
Very much appreciated.
That's all right.
And I've encountered many of both of you on the street throughout this entire year.
So what we're hearing today?
We're going to sort of play what's happened, because a lot of this happened on A Little More Imperfects.
This played out.
And at first, you had a lot of ghost activity in your house.
Can you just, for those who aren't aware, what sort of stuff has happened?
Five years ago, if someone said, do you believe in ghosts?
I would have spat my sandwich out if I was eating a sandwich.
Yeah, of course.
And said, what are you talking about?
Of course, there's no such thing.
But now?
Now I would continue to masticate my sandwich.
Okay.
Venus and masticate is a bit much in one episode.
That's chewing.
Yeah, I know.
You can't say masticate.
It's a good word.
Continue masticating.
So someone who eats a lot, they're a chronic masticator.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
That'd have to be.
Yeah.
To get the food in.
All right.
So I'd continue eating my sandwich and I'd go, yeah, that's, they're everywhere, mate.
Didn't you know that?
Yeah.
Because I have had, let me, so gosh, where do I start?
Front room of our house, Penny and I sleep in different rooms.
We love each other dearly, but for sleep purposes.
With young kids.
With young kids.
And also the fact that Penny makes this noise when she sleeps.
Really?
Yep.
If this has stayed in the edit, thank you Penny for sharing this with the world.
I appreciate it.
It's very hard to sleep when someone next to you is going.
And things started happening to me as I was asleep.
I kept waking up terrified.
Never happened to me ever before in my entire life.
I've lived in many houses and I woke up quite a few times terrified.
I just, I don't know why I was terrified.
Then a couple of things happened.
One of them was that I was lying in bed.
I was asleep.
And I just woke up, looked up, and there was a figure of someone standing over the top of me.
And I panicked and I was trying to find the light.
So I genuinely thought there was someone in the room looking at me.
And I fumbled around, finally got the light on.
There was no one there.
And I thought, what on earth just happened then?
I'm losing my mind.
And then, about three seconds after that, Elsie started crying in the other room and started crying quite a lot.
I went in trying to settle her, but I couldn't settle her.
So I brought her into bed with me and I turned the light off and I lay down and she was sitting up and she wouldn't lie down.
And I said, come on, Elsie, you need to lie down.
And it's pitch black.
And Elsie said to me, who's that over there?
Hmm.
And my heart stopped.
There was just a chair.
Then she was like, she said there was a man in the chair.
And I went, what the, what, what?
And it took me a long time to go back to sleep because it just felt.
Yeah.
Something wasn't, that was awful.
I'm surprised you've slept since.
And then more and more things started to happen.
One of them, which is a little bit more inexplicable, is the time I was getting swooped by something that kind of looked like a possum, but it had a weird face.
But it was inside.
It was inside.
I was in bed.
I woke up and I ducked for cover because something swooped me.
And it wasn't magpie breeding season.
It might have been, but we're inside and it wasn't a magpie.
It was a weird possum looking thing.
I then ran into the, there's like a little walk-in robe and I just ran into there out of panic.
And then I kept getting swooped and I was wide awake.
I'm telling you, and I know people are going, Hugh's lost his mind.
That's what I was thinking at the time, but I was wide awake and I was ducking for cover.
Yeah.
Now, before Josh jumps in, I just want to say, I believe you.
Thank you.
Anyway, I have more and more situations happen like this.
It's happening frequently.
I'm lying in bed before I go to sleep going, what is going to happen tonight?
Part of me is going, it's not going to hurt me.
Nothing physically hurt me, but I am terrified every single night.
I have so many more stories like this that I won't go into now because we don't have time.
But you were coming into work all the time recounting these ghost stories.
Yeah.
And then one day, people remember this, we had psychologist Maria Roberto come on the podcast.
And she was incredible.
We'll link to her episodes in the show notes.
But you told her-
And I don't know why.
She's just such a great listener.
And I just thought I'm just going to tell her because I've had a bad night the night before with this thing.
Yeah.
And she stopped me mid-story.
She said, you need, you know, she's very dramatic in the best possible way.
She goes, stop.
She goes, you need to speak to Garant.
And I said, who is Garant?
She goes, he is a shamanic healer.
She goes, this stuff is real.
Now, when Maria Roberto said that a psychologist, for some reason, I went, oh, I believe myself now.
I believe myself.
And she is a highly respected, educated, in clinical psychologist for many, many years.
She doesn't, when she says something is real, take it seriously.
Yeah.
So she handed me his business card and for so many reasons other than just the ghost thing, I knew I had to call this man.
Yeah.
He was the most.
I mean.
There's a photo of himself on his business card and he is a glorious looking man.
Yeah.
And I just thought I need to meet this man and I also need help desperately.
And was it a money-back guarantee or is it he just does it?
We'd still need to get onto him to tell him that he could use that.
Okay.
Let's go back to a little more Imperfects, the episode we're talking about.
You'll hear the theme music to kick it off where Hugh first got in contact with Garant.
Before we play it, I am so genuinely concerned by what's happening in the front row of my house.
This was a very legitimate call.
If it comes across as me being trivial at all, that is not the case.
I am so invested in this.
Yeah.
And sorry, Josh, this is going to sound like a huge waste of time because ghosts don't exist.
But Hugh, I'm really with you.
Thank you.
I know you aren't meant to judge a book by its cover, but going off Garant's photo on his business card, I already love this man.
Hello?
Yes, hello, is this Garant?
Yeah, yeah.
And considering I was calling about my haunted house, I kicked off the call with a surprising level of enthusiasm.
Hello, my name is Hugh van Kylenburg.
I've got your phone number from Maria Roberto, a friend of mine.
I was just telling her about how I am convinced that a room that I sleep in is definitely haunted.
Um, it's at night.
It's in one particular room and it's a really unpleasant presence.
Like, I felt a couple of times it's pushed me into the bed so I can't get up.
One night it was swooping me a lot.
I felt it was like a bird.
And then a couple of times, As I continued to go into way too much detail, trying to scare a man whose full-time job is literally ghosts, I found myself hoping Grant would say don't be silly, you're just imagining it.
Unfortunately for me, this is not the case.
In fact, his answer scared the shit out of me.
Because sometimes they've been there for like 50, 100 or more years and they seem kind the place or they could be protecting someone that's, you know, passed on.
By this point, I'm actually thinking bring it on.
I can't wait for Grant to come over and show this ghost who's boss.
What an incredible service for free.
It's $2.80 and it's at least two hours to maybe three hours, depending on the size of the place.
Because not only do I...
With the actual spirit, I'll go into the whole house, like every part of the house, to clear any if there's any portals there that it's coming through, to close them off, to completely clear the property.
Wow.
So they come through portals?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
So I look for those and find out where it's coming from, so then it definitely doesn't come back.
I mean, that's still pretty amazing considering how far he has to drive.
Of course, of course.
Totally understand.
So you're all open to be 300?
Yep.
I actually don't think 20 will cover the drive.
What a lovely man.
By the time we agreed on a date for him to come and do his de-ghosting portal thingy.
I found myself liking Grant so much I didn't want the conversation to end and found myself asking the weirdest questions just to keep this lovely man on the phone a little bit longer.
Anything in particular I should wear?
Is it like a formal thing or...?
Excellent.
Would you like a tea or a coffee when you get here?
Probably just a glass of water.
Glass of water?
Okay.
Thank you, mate.
Amazing.
Really appreciate it.
No worries.
Thank you.
Bye.
Bye.
Did you guys believe I made that?
I can believe George made that.
Yeah.
And I can see why you wanted to keep him on the phone.
He is delightful.
He is.
Such a warm presence.
Can you take your headphones off?
Oh, yeah.
Sorry.
Apologies to everyone who was expecting a show without headphones.
And he's coming tomorrow.
So he'll be at my house tomorrow.
He'll be there for, as you heard, two to three hours, closing portals and talking.
He's going to walk in there.
He said, I can record all this.
And he said he'll see whoever it is straight away.
He'll talk to it and he said kids cannot be there obviously, obviously because they're terrifying.
So like, the nanny cancelled.
So um, patrick will be with me, but i'm um, that'll be terrifying.
The kids definitely can't be there, but patrick, he's gonna have to.
I got no other option unfortunately, so he's just the youngest.
Yeah, he did open up.
The kids definitely can't be there, but couldn't find something looking after patrick, so he'll be front and center.
Yeah, he'll be with me as i film him do his stuff.
It'll be absolutely there as my body shield.
So he can see them.
He sees the piece.
I see a person the same way I would see you when I walk into the house.
He said it'll be there.
Did you explain how he does but we can't?
Yeah, sixth sense.
Okay, next question.
Well, he's a shamanic healer.
He's got permission.
He's a shamanic healer, Josh.
All right.
But no, I love how – I love it when you discover someone who's got an occupation or a skill that you've never – I didn't know.
I mean, of course I've seen Ghostbusters and the fictional versions, but I've – It's his real-life job.
It's his real-life job and how seriously he takes it.
I'm so excited.
Well, I've actually had to move rooms.
I can't sleep here anymore because it's just too distressing to be woken up every night in such a horrifying fashion.
So I've moved rooms.
You can come and stay in our corridor if you want, where there's definitely no ghost, according to Josh.
So anyway, I'll have updates on the next, our next, our next Patreon episode.
I love that package too, thank you, great job.
Played it to Penny the other night.
Oh yeah, and it went much longer originally.
She said cut it down.
I was looking at her face and she wasn't laughing at all and I it's not funny, she goes.
It just sounds like Hamish Nandy, but it's not that funny, Oh wow.
Thank you, Penny.
All right, good night, Penny.
Love you too.
God.
Yeah, I remember playing that to Penny and then... Jeez, yeah.
Hamish and Andy but not funny is... Must be very nice.
Yeah.
To not be funny.
Yeah, must be very nice to be able to sound like Hamish and Andy but not be funny.
Yeah.
Okay, so the point is you've spoken to Garant.
Garant's in.
I'm feeling good about this.
I'm excited to meet this man with flowing locks and have him change me and my family's life forever.
Yep, it's so exciting.
So then, what happened?
So some time passed and then, in a later episode of A Little More Imperfects, the ghost story continued and we thought oh, this will be a fun, lighthearted segment on A Little More Imperfects.
Because you know and as you'll hear, like sometimes there's serious moments, sometimes there's fun moments.
And we were expecting, oh, it's a ghost story.
That's a bit of fun.
It was actually kind of hard to make this next bit fun because shit got real.
It really, really did.
Sort of.
Just so you know, I'm still struggling to get over the events that took place when he came to our house.
So he comes to our house with a big bag of stuff.
I couldn't say it was in a bag, but it was a big bag.
And shirt...
Not an important detail, but I just want to paint the visual for people.
Shirt unbuttoned, probably halfway down his chest, with necklaces that had things on them that just looked like they were part of.
Things that could have been in his bag, but he was wearing them.
Shamanic things.
Shamanic things hanging from his neck.
And lovely man, my gosh.
I would love to be friends with him.
Sure you could be.
He's very busy.
He's got so many houses to go to.
Yeah.
Very kind man, very gentle man.
He did say... Gentle man.
He was a gentle man.
And he said to me on the phone, he said, you know, your kids can't be there.
It's really important because it is quite... I don't know what's going to happen.
I don't think it's good for your kids to be there.
I said, it's fine.
They're going to be at kinder and daycare and school.
So...
And then last minute I got the day wrong and actually Patrick is going to be at home.
I thought, that's fine.
That's Patrick.
He's two and a half.
He won't know what's going on.
Yeah.
Just the most influenceable kid.
All good.
And Garant, when he got there, was a little bit confused by the fact Patrick was in.
I said, ah, he's cool.
He's cool.
He loves his shit.
He's cool.
He said, do you want to keep him outside while I'm doing this?
And I went, oh, okay.
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah, that makes sense.
And he said I just need to – what I'm going to do is I'm going to find this presence or this ghost or this spirit and I'm just going to ask what it's doing here.
And then I'll find – I need to know what it's doing here.
Then I'll explain why it's not welcome anymore and I'll send it back through the portal and then I'll close up all the portals in the house.
Yep.
As he was saying that, I was thinking, what am I doing?
This is ridiculous.
Because one of my neighbours walked past and just stopped for a bit.
I was talking to this guy and said, hey, mate, what's going on?
And I couldn't tell him.
I felt a bit silly.
So I went, oh, it's just a mate of mine who's just come over for a coffee.
Yeah, just closing some portals.
All good, mate.
Just getting the ghost in the portal, closing the portals, you know.
So all of a sudden I'm thinking, hang on, this is, what am I doing?
Anyway, he goes into the room and he was in there for quite a while.
I'm sitting out in front with Patrick and the door, we had like a fly screen door.
So I was still looking over my shoulder occasionally, couldn't see what was going on.
And then I turned around and saw him running around our lounge room with the drum and like holding the drum up towards the roof and like drumming it and like running around.
It was like he was chasing something quite frantically and he looked quite stressed about it.
Are ghosts scared of drums or is it just like a specific?
I don't know.
I'm not really sure what's happening there.
But anyway, I did a lot of chasing and running around and I was sitting there trying not to look, but it was captivating.
He then came outside and said, looking quite disappointed and also a bit surprised.
He said, I'm so sorry.
Um, I'll obviously give you your money back, but I can't, I can't get it.
It's really quite, it's not a, it's a, it's a, it's an entity and I can't get it.
I can't capture it.
It's too, I'll see it for a second and it just takes off and it's gone.
I can't, this hasn't happened in a long time.
I'm so sorry, but I will, I can give you your money back and I'm sorry.
I went, what?
So there's nothing going to happen here.
I just, I can't.
I'm sorry.
I've tried really hard and it's too hard to get.
This doesn't usually happen.
I went, okay.
And as he does that, Vance the dog, the black lab, comes and sits next to him, just sits right next to him.
And he turned down and looked at Vance and he said is your dog quite an anxious, the most anxious dog in the world.
And he said, is he in the room with you when these things happen?
And I went, oh, no, no.
I actually have him in the room most nights because I've noticed when he's there, it just doesn't happen.
But it happens when he's not there.
He goes, oh, okay.
Can you keep the dog outside with you for a bit?
And then I'll So I take Vance outside with me and we're out the front.
He comes out two minutes later, massive smile on his face, walks straight past me and he looks at Vance and he goes.
You are the most beautiful boy.
You are, and he bends down, he puts his head on Vance's forehead.
Vance is a man who runs around everywhere.
You can't keep him still.
The second they touch heads.
Vance just flops to the ground and he says you have been protecting this family for so long.
You must be so exhausted.
You are a beautiful boy.
And he said, as soon as your dog was outside, I found it.
I've got it.
He said, I've got it.
Vance was looking at me the whole time.
Like, it's like he was going.
Rolling his eyes.
Anyway, he goes back inside and he comes out 15 minutes later and he looked completely rattled and.
Durant.
Yeah.
And a bit upset and nervous.
You know the thing when people are nervous to, to make a speech, their mouths are a bit shaky.
Like tremble.
Yeah.
He had that.
And he goes, um, okay.
So I've spoken to the entity and um, So yeah, I will now go back and I'll ask it to leave and then I'll protect your house.
So it's fine.
So I went, did you ask why it's here?
He goes, yeah, yeah, I did that.
And I don't think I need to tell you.
You don't need to know all that stuff why it's here.
We'll just, I'll just get it to go and that's fine.
So you don't need to know.
I went, I'm pretty keen to know.
And he goes, yeah, I don't.
And I can tell you definitely.
But I think maybe I'll just go and get rid of it and then I'll close the portals and I'll go.
No, I think I want to know.
I think I do want to know.
Yeah, sort of promised some content to some people.
It's on Patreon actually.
People are paying for this.
And he went, okay.
Yep, yep, yep.
Okay.
So I got it.
Now this is the thing I'll just give the background that quite often when I wake up, it's this small.
It's a small thing which is hanging on the blinds with this terrifying face just looking at me.
It's quite small.
And he said to me he didn't know that and he said so I got it and it was a very small thing about the size of a possum.
With this like it was quite an evil type, look about it, but it was very small.
Oh, that's what, yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
He goes, yeah, well, of course you do.
And then he said, but it scurried away very quickly when I got it.
And it's like it went and got its dad or something.
But this huge presence came and it was quite shocking when I saw it.
But it said, I said, what are you doing here?
And he looked very nervous and he said to me, do you definitely want to know?
I said, I definitely want to know.
He said, it's said that it's come for the kids.
It has come to suck all the joy out of your kids' lives.
What?
And my hands were shaking because it was such a terrifying thing to hear.
That is fascinating.
Really scary.
Anyway, I said, okay, well, that is the most terrifying thing I've ever heard.
Why am I the only one who sees it?
And he said well, the kids would experience it, but it's all they've ever known, so it's like that's just part of their world.
And I said, why me though?
And he said, well, it's trying to scare you off.
It sees you as the protector and it wants to scare you off so it can really do its thing with the kids.
That is awful.
Sorry, why?
Did he say why it's trying to do this?
Well, he said it's from hundreds and hundreds of years ago.
He said there was a A really awful thing happened around here.
And Bell.
Actually, before this even happened, Bell had done research about our area and had actually heard about a house very close to our.
Anyway, he said this whole street.
He said this whole street has the most awful presence around it.
It's this area.
It's just.
There is an entity here that was treated so poorly and is now wanting to do the same to the kids in the area.
This is...
It was horrifying.
It was horrifying, yeah.
And so I said, so what happens now?
And he goes, it's fine.
It's going to take a bit of time, but I'm going to close.
I'm going to get it to leave and then I'm going to close all the portals and I'm going to bring light to different areas of your house and then I'm going to send guardians and they'll make sure it can't come back.
And he said –
The only thing is it will go to other houses in the street.
And I went, what, do I tell my neighbours?
And he goes, no, that won't.
Don't tell the neighbours because they will think it's awful.
You can't go up to a neighbour and tell them.
That's such a moral conundrum.
I was like, what, do I send it somewhere else?
I was like, yeah, I've had enough.
We've had it for four and a half years.
Get rid of it.
He said, but I can get it to go.
And he said, is that what you want?
Yes, definitely.
So he's there for two hours doing all this stuff, burning different incense things and ringing these beautiful sounding bells, and doing this stuff bringing light in different areas.
It was amazing to watch.
Then he goes, okay, that's it.
We're done.
It's gone and you'll be good for now.
I went, okay, so how do I know?
And he goes, oh, you'll just know.
I got a text message from Penny.
So we were here doing stuff and we had something on that afternoon.
So I didn't go home until much later and Penny was home with the kids and she sent me a message later that day.
It was a photo of them playing very happily together and she said I've never seen the kids like this before.
She said, they are so happy.
I've never seen this before with our kids.
I went, okay.
We, at the moment, our nanny is about to head off overseas.
And because people, everyone's going, well, has it happened to you?
Have you seen the thing?
Have you seen the present since?
Our nanny's about to head off overseas.
And so we said, do you want to come live with us?
Because her rental's finished.
Just live with us for a bit.
Good arrangement for her.
Amazing arrangement for us, having the nanny there all the time.
She said, oh, I have the most intense, horrific nightmares in that room.
And she goes, they've just stopped.
Like they're all gone.
Patrick, our youngest, sleeps in the room opposite there.
And he does this thing every night where he just screams out and he's just sleep talking.
Just yells.
Like it's so distressed.
You go in and he's like tossing and turning.
Yeah.
Hasn't had one since.
Hasn't happened once.
And how long has it been?
It's been two and a half weeks maybe, I think.
I know.
I know.
It's, I mean, I'm terrified.
Josh is obviously feeling nothing because he doesn't believe.
But like I really empathize with you.
Josh, how are you feeling?
I'm torn.
I'm torn.
Yeah.
He actually said to me, what happens when you're not here?
And I said, oh, nothing.
It's just like normal.
And then we remember this night where one of our kids, who we put them in our bed.
It was a king-size bed.
When I was away for a night.
And Penny is downstairs and she had this huge crash.
And the child had managed to roll all the way out of the bed, which they've never done ever before.
And it hit their head on the bedside table, split their head open and ended up in hospital with stitches.
And I'm like, he said, does anything dangerous ever happen to the kids while you're away?
So I mean, it was probably the child lying on the bed, but it just.
I thought of that and thought, oh my God.
The other thing we thought of when I was thinking about Vance.
He said you're so beautiful protecting this house.
Your dog, Vance.
Yeah, yeah.
This happens to him.
I'd say a few times a year, like one, two in the morning we'll find him back completely arched, unable to move, his legs shaking on the ground, eyes rolled back in his head.
What?
Yeah.
That's a detail you've left out.
Bleed with that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
And we take him straight to the emergency vet and they go, I don't know.
That's just I'm not sure what's happened there.
Whereabouts in the house?
Right outside that room.
Right outside the room.
That is terrifying.
He can't walk.
He tries to walk and then collapses and he's back archers and he just lies back, roll back and he's shaking.
It's the most paranormal thing when he's back completely archers, when you've never seen him do that before.
It's just – Oh, weird.
Yeah, anyway, so I should have – I do think that you've buried the lead there.
I think that's probably the most disturbing part of the whole story.
Yeah.
That's – whoa.
Anyway, I have been a lot more forgiving for Vance when he runs off with my Nike Vaporflys.
How's Vance's behaviour been since?
What a bit of product placement.
So specific.
Chewed up too, so I need a new pair of those.
Yeah, thanks, mate.
Vance has been, I'll be honest, no different.
Okay.
But God, he's probably traumatised of six years of protecting his family from a possum-like thing with a big dad.
Jeez.
Yeah.
Okay.
Can I say one more thing?
Sure.
He said before he left he goes oh, that piece of artwork in the room where it happens.
That is the second I saw it.
I got goosebumps.
That is not, that is a very evil and dark energy from that piece of artwork, just so you know.
And I went, okay, what do I do then?
He goes, oh, if it was me, I'd burn it.
And I went, I think it's very expensive.
And he goes, well, you need to get it out of this house.
And so I went.
Go to the neighbors.
Okay.
Hope you like Picasso.
It's not often I give away a $10 million painting, but I'd love you to have it.
He said I would be burning it.
I said I can't do that, but I'll move it to another room perhaps.
I'd get it out of the house.
And I mean to put it in a storage place because I think it's a beautiful bit of art, but I'll put it in the garage where every morning now I wake up and I do.
Get it out of your house.
I'm imagining that artwork in Ghostbusters 2.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, the guy staring.
Yeah, anyway.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, yeah.
So anyway, I put it in the garage and every morning I go in there and I do like this 15-minute gratitude breath work thing I found, which is – it's so good.
And I lie there in the dark and just forgot about the painting being there.
And it was in a garage.
There's no doors open.
There's nothing open.
And it's on an angle like this.
I don't know what angle that would be for people listening.
It's like almost a 45 degree angle.
Against the wall.
Against the wall.
And I was just lying on the ground doing breath work and I heard something crash.
I was like, oh, something's fallen off the shelf.
And I just kind of ignored it.
And I thought one of the kids had opened the door and closed the door or something.
Did the 15-minute breath work, opened my eyes.
It was the fucking painting had fallen flat on its face.
Burn that.
Burn it.
Anyway, I don't know.
I don't know what I think.
I do know this.
Our house feels very, very different.
The energy of our house feels different.
I love Grant.
I know that.
I love Grant.
He's a very great man.
Well, if Patrick hasn't had the nightmares, the nanny hasn't had the dreams and your kids are acting in a completely different way than they've acted before, that to me, all points to what I sort of thought, which is that Josh is wrong.
It couldn't be anything else.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Isn't that interesting?
We did get a bit of – we did get someone right in through Patreon.
I love our community just saying some lovely things about the podcast.
And they said.
After listening to the later step and hearing Hugh's ghost story, I thought it might be worth saying that he might consider having his home tested for gas leak.
Slash carbon monoxide if they have gas heating.
Slash hot water.
I was reminded of a TED Talk from quite a few years ago in which the journalist –
Carrie Poppy was having a really similar experience at night, the same thing Hugh mentioned experiencing.
She looked into the paranormal and eventually found out that there was a gas leak which was quite serious and giving her CO poisoning.
So I haven't looked into that yet just because I don't need to.
Everything feels great.
Maybe Grant's just a plumber.
Yeah, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Well, Hugh.
A supernatural gas plumber.
Supernatural gas.
Very good.
Okay, that is an incredible update.
And God, I hope Garant has done it.
I'm very happy for you, Richard.
Yeah.
Through gritted teeth.
No, I'm happy that you and the family are happy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hard to say, isn't it?
But my, yeah.
It's so rare to hear a man say I'm wrong.
But let's hear it.
Yeah.
I don't think I'm going to say I'm wrong in this case.
I'm happy to say I'm wrong when I'm wrong.
But my sceptic alarms are going off.
My sceptical alarms are going off a lot.
Oh, really?
But I also am mainly just happy for you that whatever has happened is.
Actually, the world is made up of two different people with ghosts.
It's like people who have experienced ghosts believing in people who haven't don't believe them, and both of them make sense.
I think there's a third group open-minded people who haven't experienced it, but still believe the people who say they haven't.
Which one do you fit into, Josh?
Why would you believe your brother?
I worry that I don't want to say anything that would offend Garant and what he does.
Well, too late.
Like it's implied.
No, but I mean, maybe it will require something happening to you.
Hopefully not, but if it did ever happen to you.
You know how I told you about walking down the hall?
Yes.
Yeah, the last couple of days in my Augie's room he doesn't sleep that well.
He's called me in the middle of the night because his cupboard doors just open randomly in the middle of the night.
You haven't acquired a new piece of artwork recently, have you?
Yeah, I got this roof off my brother actually.
It's beautiful.
Yeah, I put it on the roof above Augie's bed.
Great call.
Great call.
Wow.
Okay, so incredible update.
So hopefully we never have to talk about it again.
Yeah, so Nat, wonderful, and he leaves for Nepal mid-March.
And so I will be back in that room mid-March.
Okay, the ultimate test.
It is the ultimate test.
Well, there you have it.
I guess it's, you know, people put on updates now.
Yeah, I mean, we're all desperate to know, like, has the ghost been busted?
Grant is very good at his job.
I am not a word of a lie.
Not a single thing has happened since the day that he visited.
No paranormal activity?
Nothing.
I'm telling you now, it's just been- It's incredible.
It's ridiculous.
Don't you reckon, Josh?
It is incredible.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The whole thing's quite incredible.
So I called Grant to tell him.
But two months later I called him to say but I said it in a way that's like you won't believe this.
I went, Grant, you won't believe this.
Nothing.
Like since you've been nothing.
And he goes, yeah, I know.
I closed the portals.
I brought light into your place.
It's like calling a plumber after they've been and like done all the work, and you call them and say hey, guess what?
You're not going to believe this.
My toilet works.
Straight after you left, my toilet started working.
Yeah, you paid me for that, mate.
So I had that phone call with him.
He was not shocked or surprised at all.
And then I can't really keep speaking to him.
So I said, are you busy today?
He goes, yes, I'm at a share house today.
There's actually seven ghosts in this place.
So I've got to head off, mate.
So he just took a phone call mid-dealing with ghosts.
Is it a share house for ghosts or a share house that happened to have ghosts?
It's an amazing coincidence that the share house – has seven ghosts that were probably previous share house ghosts, you know.
Oh, so you're suggesting that they are real ghosts?
No, I'm saying that the coincidence is a bit too coincidental to be – it's just – I'm just a bit – anyway,
With zero information, you're cynical.
Yeah.
I would just say no, it's not – when you have a house that's haunted, it's not just one –.
God, I can't wait to explain this to you.
It's not just one ghost.
There can be more.
Yeah, there can be multiple.
Oh, okay.
Sorry.
I'm learning the rules of ghosts.
Anyway, not a – like the house is just – the energy is completely shifted.
Well, it's a happy ending.
Yeah.
Oh, the happiest.
Oh, so, so, so happy for you guys.
Cause it was truly quite like haunting.
Oh, and I mean this.
Please, if you want Grant's number, I am more than happy to give it out, because he has changed our lives.
I'm serious.
He has changed our lives forever.
It's incredible.
To put a bow on this, I can't believe, I cannot believe what's happened in my life.
I can't believe this is, I've someone who's had this experience and I am more than a believer.
I'm a What's more than a believer?
I don't know.
Not sure.
Okay.
But I'm more than that.
No, and I love Grant and I will forever.
Well, okay.
That is the sort of stuff that happens on A Little More Imperfects.
It's sort of a lot of the stuff that happens particularly to Hugh that we can't quite fit in the regular show.
We are able to explore it in quite deep detail.
I do like with our in all seriousness with our subscriber show A Little More Imperfects.
I do like that we can continue a thread and a story through the episodes.
Yeah.
Whereas it's a bit harder to do that with the regular feed because we have a different guest and it just doesn't quite work.
It's like a parallel Imperfects universe happening alongside the ring.
Paranormal. sometimes, sometimes it's a parallel paranormal universe happening.
Um, but we also do, like you know, talk about the, the main episode that was just released that week.
Sometimes,
And we reflect on that.
Um, so yeah, go to patreon.com or through Apple podcasts.
You can, you can subscribe through there if you just want the, um, fortnightly bonus episode.
Yeah.

Yeah, go all of the Aussies.
All 25 mil of you.
