Hello, everybody.
This is Teacher Levi.
And today, we'll be filming another slow English video.
Last time, we did over an hour.
And now we'll do a long video, not super long, but we'll do.
We'll do yes, but we'll do.
I want to do longer than usual, as i said in my videos uh, talking about goals, or one of my videos where I spoke about my goals for the channel in 2026.
Notice 20, we can say 20, 2026.
But today I want to speak about winter activities, because Everything is covered in snow actually not the branches anymore, because It's a little warmer today, So some of the snow melted, But Who knows, there might be more snow in the coming weeks.
The climate recently has been a bit unpredictable.
So it can change every week.
I thought that it would be a warmer winter.
But as it turns out, it's quite cold.
You can actually type the comments.
What's the temperature nowadays where you're living?
I know we have a diverse or diverse audience, so I'm curious some of you might be in summertime now if you are in Brazil, Brazil or Australia.
So I know I have students from both places.
So they're enjoying the warmer weather compared to everyone else.
So obviously there's ice skating, which is something I posted about on my Instagram.
I did a short clip of me ice skating.
People thought that it wasn't me, but it was.
I went ice skating in the city.
Actually, I filmed a video a few months ago about being, or i was, on a lake in a boat.
It was a row boat, if you remember, some of you might have seen the video and it's that lake.
It's an artificial lake, man-made.
So it's that lake, or the one right next to it, where they have ice skating.
They play music and they also have food.
You can get drinks and different food.
I actually got churros, which are these, I think, Spanish cinnamon rolls.
They're not rolls, they look like french toast sticks, if anyone has tried those.
So they're delicious and actually, at that specific place i think they're better than the ones i got in spain.
So that's just my opinion.
I don't like churros which are too sweet, but I also don't like it when they're not sweet at all.
So the chocolate cream or this chocolate dip that comes with the churros, that's sweet, but I like to have the churros a little little sweet as well.
This video you can just listen to.
For those who are watching on YouTube, you can enjoy the scenery, but it's not necessary, so you can just listen.
Work on listening comprehension.
I was just speaking with someone in person after training Muay Thai and I told him it's important, even if you don't understand 100 of a video or movie, to be persistent and to do it every day, 30 minutes or an hour.
I think it's somewhat relaxing when you're working on this listening practice.
And the idea is you can take notes, you can have vocabulary, but you don't need to overdo it, to do too much.
Talking about comprehensible input.
Last time I mentioned that the idea is to Absorb or, as somebody told me today, to soak up the information.
Put it in your brain and Then it'll come out later.
It'll come out later and also work on your pronunciation, naturally just by listening to the correct sounds over and over again.
And So the first one was ice skating.
We also say skating rink.
That's the place where you go ice skating.
So the skating rink.
And sometimes, if you go skating on a lake, you can fall through the ice.
The ice can break and you fall in to the water, the freezing, cold water.
I actually overheard a conversation where someone recently went skating on a lake and the police actually went out to that spot because they said the ice wasn't thick enough thick enough on that part to go skating.
But they went anyways and there were so many people that the police officer just let them skate and half the people got off the ice, half of them stayed.
This is what I heard.
And one of the guys who stayed.
He went close to the shore where they had the reeds, the plants coming out of the water.
And the ice was.
I don't think it was broken, but naturally it was thinner at that area, that part of the lake.
So he fell through and apparently he fully submerged.
Fully submerged meaning he went completely under the water and he had to climb out on his belly or on his stomach and his friend crawled to him on the ice, also on his stomach, and helped to pull him out of the ice.
So it's a little funny.
Uh, they're okay.
So nothing bad happened.
But they had to skate back to the original place where they had the car, And so I don't know how long that took, but I think it was probably 10 minutes, from my guess of listening to the conversation.
So skating with wet clothes is not something I would try.
I think it's a good way to get hypothermia.
So, um, could be dangerous actually.
You can definitely get sick.
So not recommended.
It was raining a bit today and the water froze onto the snow.
So it's very slippery, very slippery, even while driving pulled up to an intersection like this is an intersection and I had a yield sign.
The yield sign is the triangle triangular sign.
In most countries it's orange or yellow, depending on where you're located.
Um, so, but usually it's a triangle, I think, and I didn't expect it to be slippery.
The roads were clear.
Um, but I slid almost into the intersection and I wanted to good.
She's very disciplined.
Some of you have seen her already in past videos.
You might remember her name.
But I slid almost into the intersection and I wanted or wanted, I wanted to turn left, so I had to cross a lane, but there was a car coming and I was sliding, so I decided to turn right instead, but then luckily, I stopped, or the car stopped so I could turn left, but that happened today.
So be careful obviously, if you're driving, and If you're driving and you have bad weather conditions.
Like snow or ice on the roads.
So ice skating.
Another one which I do enjoy is skiing.
To ski.
Skiing.
I've tried snowboarding as well.
But mostly skied in the past.
So for me, I got used to having my balance on two skis and the snowboard felt a bit odd.
It felt weird.
It takes time to get used to obviously, but I prefer skiing just because I'm used to it, but I
I would be open to try snowboarding again.
So a lot of you who live near the mountains probably go skiing or snowboarding.
Or there's a new activity which one of my students told me about.
I think they live in Switzerland.
They told me about Nordic walking.
I think Nordic walking is similar to cross country skiing, where you have skis but you're walking on a flat surface.
Maybe you have some hills, but you have your poles and you're walking on a mountain Ridge or just on a path in the forest.
That's what I think.
So if anybody does Nordic walking or cross country skiing, then you can describe that can be your homework, to describe in the comments um, what it's like, what kind of equipment or gear you need Or you should have so, and you can enlighten us, Share with us this information.
So, But beautiful weather today, a little foggy, but overall, if you're walking and It's not too cold.
So it's nice.
You get used to it.
After a while, you get used to the temperature or the climate.
So I'm trying to think of what else we have, which are winter activities.
And I remember just recently one of my students went sledding.
Sledding is fun.
And we used to go a lot in the winter growing up with my siblings.
Remember siblings are brothers or sisters.
So it could be two brothers, two sisters.
It could be one brother, one sister.
So those are your siblings.
So we used to go sledding on small slopes, nothing crazy.
The slope or the hill, the path where you can sled or ski or snowboard.
And so my student went sledding because in poland they had a lot of snow, a lot of a lot of snow, and so they took advantage advantage.
They took advantage of the opportunity to go sledding.
Remember, for sledding we use a sled.
That is the noun and the object.
So you go sledding on sled.
You have the typical wooden sleds, which remind me of Christmas, and you also have the circular sleds, which are plastic and they're small.
You can sit on them, but they go really fast.
I was telling someone it feels like you're a bullet with the plastic one.
They go so fast and sometimes you're even spinning as you're going down the hill.
So I think it could be somewhat dangerous, especially if you have trees or other objects near where you're sledding, so you can lose control and hit something.
So also it's important to be careful while doing that, obviously.
Oh, and also now that i see snow, a lot of people or kids they build snowmen, which you probably are familiar with.
They're usually made up of three big balls of snow and you have a carrot for the nose and for the eyes you have.
I forgot.
I can't remember, but you have sticks for the arms and then you can put other accessories on it if you want.
I remember in the book challenge we had one part where they built a snowman.
Some of you who read the book you can recall maybe remember or recall that part and it had a picture as well in the book.
So snowmen, snowball fights, i remember, depending on what kind of snow you have.
For example, this is, i think, good quality because it has some ice so you can have a thicker snow ball, But sometimes you have too much powder, powdery snow.
It's no good.
It's not good for making a snowball.
It falls apart as you throw it.
So we would do, or we would have snowball fights in the winter.
Obviously I don't really do that anymore but it's something to know.
Snowballs and snowball fights.
That's another winter activity.
This next one I just thought of because I was thinking of books.
It feels very cozy to read a book inside.
And if you have a window nearby, and the snow's falling, it's a good environment to read a book.
And I remember someone told me that Harry Potter the book series is a winter thing or a winter activity, but maybe it was for Christmas.
I don't remember.
So either winter or Christmas, they said Harry Potter is the perfect book.
Or books, the Harry Potter books are perfect for that time.
I've never read them.
I remember in third grade, I've been walking a lot.
I remember in third grade, everybody was reading the Harry Potter books.
It was trendy to read the books.
So I went to the school library and I got the first book, first harry potter book, and i started reading.
I read about one third of the way or maybe halfway through the book and i stopped reading it.
It wasn't really interesting for me.
After that i got a book about a ghost.
I don't know why i picked that book, but that's the book i remember reading in third grade.
So I was never really into the Harry Potter book series.
I did watch the movies.
I thought the movies were well made so I think I've seen all of them.
Maybe not the newest one, but I think I've seen all of them.
So those are good and it's interesting watching the actors get older.
In the first movie they're little kids and the last one they're all grown up.
So that's.
I think maybe there's seven or eight movies and probably more books, maybe nine books in the series, so I could be wrong.
Recently I also got into drinking more tea than usual.
Especially when it's cold, tea feels very nice.
I like to have it where it's not so hot that it burns your tongue, but it's still hot enough where it slightly burns your throat.
It doesn't burn, it heats up your throat, and it's a terrific beverage, I think, for the winter.
So I know I filmed the matcha recently and that's not really tea in my opinion, and i don't drink coffee, but i will say i made an exception because i went out for dinner or lunch at a vietnamese place with a friend and we got pho, which is a common or popular dish.
It's a soup, Vietnamese soup with chick.
I think I got it with chicken, but you can have it with beef or duck or something else.
I remember the waitress came over and they had a whole list of things you can add to your pho.
I've had it before, but I don't remember all the options.
I think the place I got it was Simply Pho, and they put in whatever ingredients they wanted to.
But this place had a whole list of things.
So when she came over, me and my friend were still talking.
So we said, oh, give us a minute.
And she came back.
We still didn't look at the menu.
We were so deep in conversation.
And so I asked her for her recommendation.
And she said, go with the chicken.
And also I think it was mildly spicy.
So not too spicy.
I know sometimes they give some red pepper in a small bowl with garlic or ginger is it garlic or ginger?
And you can add it to your soup, which i do usually anyways.
So i got pho, it was good, and my friend got coffee and i said okay, i don't drink coffee so i won't all have something else.
But he said oh, you've never tried vietnamese coffee is what my friend said.
And i said what's so special about it?
About the coffee?
I've heard of turkish coffee, i've heard of balinese or coffee from bali, where they have the monkey or some animal which eats some beans or something and then they make coffee afterwards, but I've never heard of Vietnamese coffee.
And I thought what's so special about it?
And he said the way it's made and also the ingredients.
So they brought his coffee And I saw some white foam or some cream in his cup.
I have to keep glancing back just to make sure she doesn't run away.
And the whistling technique works very well.
She comes pretty quickly.
Let me demonstrate.
Let me demonstrate.
So this is not working this time.
Usually it does work.
Anyways, she'll be back.
But so he got this, it looked like cream cheese or foam or something.
And I asked him what it was, what's that?
And he said, oh, it's cream cheese.
I think it was cream cheese.
It's this white cream, this white substance.
And then you have this dripping mechanism There she comes.
I'm not really sure how to describe it because it has a filter on top.
It has a filter on top and then the coffee drips into that white cream and then at the end you mix it together with a spoon.
It takes about five minutes for the coffee to filter down from the top and drip fully into into your cup.
So uh, once it was done, he stirred it with the spoon and he said try it.
And i said oh, i don't know.
And he said no, you have to try it.
It tastes like melted chocolate or something, And I like hot chocolate.
So I thought, okay.
I'm not against coffee.
I don't drink it.
I haven't drank coffee in... I stopped drinking coffee about a year and a half ago.
I just like the flavor.
But I never got energy from coffee.
So it was easy to stop.
But I like the atmosphere of cafes.
And also...
To go and work and drink a coffee.
I like the flavor.
So I tried it.
I had a sip.
I took a sip.
And it was delicious.
It tasted a little like cinnamon.
And yeah, like chocolate.
So I decided to get one as well.
After my soup.
And they brought mine.
I waited.
I actually didn't have much time because I needed to catch a train or I was going somewhere.
So I tried to have it drip faster than five minutes.
So I tried to open the top part of the filter and kind of move the water or the coffee down with my spoon.
The waitress came over and she said no no no, that's not correct, you have to wait.
So i said okay, i'll wait then, and once it finished i had a sip, i've removed that top filter part.
I had a sip and i looked at my friend and i said your coffee was better, mine's not so good.
And then he's like he looks at it and he said you forgot to stir it up, to mix the cream with the coffee.
And once I did that, then it was the perfect flavor.
So if you've never had it, I would recommend to try.
And I don't know, maybe it depends also where you buy it from or who makes it, but I think the ingredients and the process is unique.
So it adds this, the five minutes adds a bit of anticipation.
So you wait for it to be done and then the taste or flavor is delicious.
So I would recommend that to anybody who likes coffee and they haven't tried it.
I'm a little out of breath again, and my shoulders, my arms feel a bit fatigued.
I don't know if it's because I'm coming straight from training and that could be a reason, or maybe I'm not hydrated.
I haven't drank enough water.
Who knows?
But last time I did the one hour, And I only switched arms a couple times.
Now I have to switch more frequently.
So, but I'm out of breath because I'm walking uphill, downhill and talking.
So that's that.
But the arms and shoulders, I don't know.
Maybe I can blame it on the training.
So this camera isn't so heavy.
When you're holding it in this position, you feel it kick in, and today it's just more than usual.
I can feel it more sometimes in the forest, especially when there's snow, you can hear footsteps and that's when i start looking around for what's coming, for what's around me.
So, But it's very safe.
Besides from hunters.
So that's one thing that I pay attention to.
And make sure that they don't mistake a dog for a deer.
Or me.
So that's important.
Important.
Now she's coming.
Okay.
Let's go.
So I don't want her running too far away where I can't see her.
She needs to be in sight at all times.
So, but yeah, also for New Year's.
I talked to some guy who works at a gym and they told me this statistic that they have huge increase.
I forgot the number of signups.
In January the gyms are packed full people and then by February it clears out again.
So this is a representation of how many people have resolutions to maybe lose weight or to go to the gym exercise, maybe gain muscle.
And within one or two months they quit.
I hope that's not the case for my students, because I know we talked a lot about goals at the end of the year and setting up some target for 2026.
What you'll be doing.
And I know some of you have already started working towards those goals.
So good job to those who are continuing and they started making progress on their goals for this year for English.
I've also been practicing with her some walking training.
Hey!
And so to heal.
So she's supposed to walk next to me.
Hey!
But it's still a work in progress.
So we can't expect to reach our goals instantly, but persistence is key, obviously.
So I'm going to put this video on early access for the members, which just means that they can see it earlier, maybe one day or two days early.
Let's see, I've never tried it, but I've been recommended to do that.
So I want to give it a shot and just also in appreciation, or just to show my appreciation for the members, because one is a lot of them are devoting extra time and they're in their English studies and watching the videos commenting, participating in the book, challenge some of them, or following recommendations.
And also just because I've had it for a few months now.
The members and some of the the members have been there for a long time, so i do videos, but sometimes i i push them.
So i did one recently, but before that there was a long break and uh, the members stayed and um, they watched the other videos.
So, in appreciation To them, I want to do early access and we'll do it just to see how it works.
Like I said, I haven't tried it, but I'll do it for this video and for the next one and see if it's of any value.
Also thanks for the support from everybody, all the viewers, the subscribers, and thank you for commenting.
I do read all the comments.
Sometimes I'm late in responding and I apologize for that.
I'll go back sometimes to old videos and just randomly respond to them.
And I do look at replies, so I read them as well.
But I appreciate the comments because it's nice to hear the feedback and also the recommendations of what I could do or film or topics to talk about.
So, but it seems like the slower English, the slow English is beneficial.
A lot of people say that it's easier to understand.
And remember, we're aiming for maybe 70 or 80%, 70 or 80% comprehension.
So we don't need to understand 100%. but we should get 70 or 80%.
And that's from the comprehensible input strategy.
So that's what we're aiming for.
As you level up, you can find movies or shows which are harder.
They speak faster and you have to pay closer attention, catch what they're saying.
But I think these ones you can still improve as an intermediate or advanced level student, sometimes beginners, if there are parts of the video which are easier to understand.
I know a lot of people or viewers they read the subtitles and they say that that's helpful.
So I, whatever is your strategy, if it works, it works.
So everybody learns differently.
So thank you for watching.
Thank you for the support.
And she's eating the snow.
She's probably thirsty.
And I'll have a new video out next week.
I hope to do it next week.
So thank you if you support the videos like and subscribe and i'll see you next time bye
