Hey guys, it's Syd and welcome back.
I feel like I'm about to get ready with my best friends.
Grab some tea.
You already saw my mug probably.
The reason you guys are actually here today is because I'm gonna be answering assumptions about me.
I'm going out in the city with some of my girlfriends tonight.
We're going to dinner and drinks.
I went on my Instagram story and asked you guys to make assumptions about me for fun.
You know, this could really hurt my feelings.
You don't worry about finances.
I would say I'm very, very privileged and very lucky to not have to like worry about that.
Obviously I try to be smart with my finances and I try to save a lot of my money.
I try to put a lot of money into retirement and just be like strategic about my spending.
Even with buying clothes and stuff recently, I've been trying to evaluate like okay, do I really really need the sweater?
Which is good, you know, I think it's important to monitor your spending and be responsible.
But to answer your question, I really don't have to like worry about affording my rent or food, and that in itself is like the biggest blessing.
And I thank God every day for that because I know that a lot of people don't have that luxury.
You'd rather be single than in a relationship.
I'm really happy to be in a relationship.
So no, I definitely don't wish I was single.
You act the same on and off camera.
Okay, the best compliment that I've ever received.
I forget who it was, honestly.
I think it was like someone in college, but someone came up to me and said wow, you are exactly like your videos.
Like your personality in person is quite identical to how you are online.
I don't know.
I guess I took it as a compliment.
I would say that I am.
I don't even think I can be fake.
Like, I feel like you would just see right through that, so.
Oh, you look like the type of person to always arrive late to places.
I think as I get older, I find it actually a little bit disrespectful when I'm late to things, because it's like not valuing the other person's time.
So in the past, have I ran late often?
Yes.
Is it something I'm trying to fix?
Yes.
And I think I've gotten a lot better at it.
I think 25 has actually been a pretty transformative year for me.
I feel like I've grown up. in like very different ways than my early twenties.
Just like responsibility wise.
I feel like I'm a lot more responsible than I was when I was younger.
You like trying new things.
I do.
The older I get, the more I realize how little I actually know.
I feel like I know such a small percentage of everything that exists and all the information in the world.
So that's a big reason too, why I love traveling and I love exploring new places, learning about tons of different things.
Hitting snooze at least three times.
This is my biggest struggle right now.
Yes, you're definitely an iced vanilla latte type of girl.
Yes, that is my order.
So I guess, I don't know.
What does that say about me?
You grew up rich.
Another one under it says daddy's money.
This I find very interesting because I did not grow up rich.
I had such a nice life though.
I had a great childhood.
We didn't struggle by any means at all, really appreciative for my schooling, for just like my childhood and my life, like i feel like i had the best childhood, so we weren't struggling or anything at all, but we definitely were not rich.
I definitely wouldn't be able to live in new york without youtube and social media and my job and that's like one of the things i'm most grateful for about this job is that it's giving me the opportunity to live other places and like try other things that i wouldn't have otherwise probably been able to afford.
You are actually super shy in real life.
I think I do better in small groups or like one-on-one conversations.
When it gets to a really big group, I think I get a bit overwhelmed, and that's when I tend to be a bit more shy and like reserved into myself.
I'm not like shouting over the group and like voicing my opinions if there's a big group of people, usually.
But if it's just like me and a couple of people I'm meeting, I feel like I'm pretty outgoing.
You sometimes feel left behind in life.
I think, like a lot of people, I always am like reassessing what I want for my future, or am I like behind?
For example, I think in the Midwest people tend to get married younger and like have kids younger there versus the city.
I'm talking about New York.
Again, huge generalization, but that's just like what I've noticed.
And so sometimes I compare myself to like people back home or like where I thought I would be at age 25.
I've realized it's not productive.
And I've also realized things work themselves out.
I believe in like God's timing.
So I've never tried to like overthink it, but sometimes, you know, I feel like it's normal to have those thoughts and like insecurities, especially in your mid twenties.
It's like such a complicated time.
And it feels like everyone's kind of like in a race or like competition, whether it's like work or family or success whatever.
And I think you just have to remind yourself that it doesn't really matter what anyone else is doing.
It just like matters what feels right to you and like your timing.
You're a candle person.
I am until I get nervous about forgetting to blow it out.
I kind of go crazy, especially with like things like candles or like my stove.
I will go back into my apartment after I've left and gone down the elevator because I'm paranoid.
I'm like, did I turn it off?
I think that's OCD actually.
I love candles.
Wow, I really went on tangent.
You don't want kids.
No, I really do want kids.
Ever since I was really young.
All I could remember is how badly I wanted to start a family and how excited I was to have kids.
So I'm really excited to start my own family one day.
You don't miss Minnesota.
I don't know.
I think Minnesota will always be home to me.
Growing up there for 18 years straight in the same house, like there's nowhere else that feels more like home than Minnesota.
I'm not necessarily like attached to Minnesota though.
I mean, obviously like I moved out of there, so I'm definitely not.
The biggest thing for me isn't Minnesota itself.
It's that my family's there.
So if my family, like ever, left Minnesota, I would really just be going to visit them wherever else they lived.
I'm always gonna have like strong ties and I'm always gonna love Minnesota for that reason.
You're lazy to shower.
Okay.
No, I shower once a day.
You are actually quite lonely.
There's definitely a lot of times when I'm lonely.
Like right now I'd say, that's kind of why I'm filming this video because my roommate's gone.
No one's here.
I've been alone all day.
It really depends on the day though.
And it depends what I do and like my mood.
And if I try to like get myself out of it, but i also just try to like value the time that i'm alone.
Now, you guys know, i feel like i've done a lot of work on that for myself.
Every human being is gonna have points in life where they're lonely, like it's just inevitable or phases or times, and yeah, i think it's just like accepting it and also learning to like enjoy your own company.
That sort of helps me navigate that.
Not related, but you remind me a lot of sean mendez sister.
Wait, this is really random.
I don't like her.
I want to look her up now.
Oh, she's really pretty.
That's such like a nice compliment.
I'll take that.
I feel like you love cabbage in the best way.
Okay, is this my friend ashley doing this?
Because There's no way someone said that.
You're not friends with your old best friend Rachel anymore.
Rachel, my best friend from Minnesota that I've grown up with on this channel, is obviously still my best friend.
No, I hope I never stop being friends with her.
I've been friends with her for like 15 years now.
Obviously we don't get to see each other as much because I left her and I'm in New York, but we FaceTime and text all the time.
And I feel like the friendships that last when you move, like domestically or abroad, are the ones that are going to last forever.
And I feel like if you both put effort in, that's what matters.
And we definitely both Wow, thank you.
That's really nice.
A lot of the times I don't feel successful and a lot of the times I really do feel like I'm behind, maybe in some way, or I don't know.
I'm very like critical of myself.
Just like everyone is, you have moments or days.
I find I have like specific days where I'm like extra hard on myself and I don't really know why that is.
I usually can like pull myself out of it, but I definitely get insecure and worried if I'm behind, just like I think everyone else does in their 20s.
You always need your signature mug.
How did you know?
Living in New York isn't as glamorous as it seems.
I mean, it's definitely not all like the Instagram Pinterest pictures.
And it is a city.
There's definitely crime and garbage a lot of the places.
Not trying to say New York is terrible.
I actually like love New York, but you're not gonna get to New York and it's like your Pinterest board in real life.
Parts yes, but parts no.
You seem like you type really loudly.
In college my friends would always say this about me and they would get like really annoyed because apparently i type really loud.
I've been accused, so i guess i have to admit it here.
You consume two to four coffees a day.
Uh no, i used to do this and then i started to realize i felt like really shaky and kind of like ill when i drank more than one.
So i try to limit it to one coffee a day and a lot of water, and that's helped me.
Your boyfriend is your neighbor.
Aw.
He's not my neighbor.
He's fairly close.
I wish he was my neighbor though.
I assume you want to move to another country.
I've always wanted to try that.
Even if it's for like a couple months to six months.
It's something that I've thought about, especially actually recently.
I'd also love to learn the language.
Specifically Spanish.
I'd love to like get better at that.
Live in Spain for a few months.
You don't want to be a lawyer anymore.
There was a period.
I actually kind of forgot that I talked about this online.
I did consider law school briefly after college.
I thought maybe it was something that i wanted to do and then, after a lot of my own research and talking to a lot of lawyers, i decided i didn't.
I'm not saying i would never, ever ever go to law school, but i just at this point, i definitely don't see it for myself.
You're a picky eater.
I used to be a picky eater for sure, especially in college and like high school.
And now I have done such a good job.
I'm very proud of myself for expanding my palette.
It was hard for me, you know, like when you're used to eating the same things and like being picky, it's really hard to get out of that.
And I found that I just kind of just forced myself to try things when people offered me them, or just like try things at a restaurant that someone else ordered maybe.
A lot of the times I wouldn't like it.
But maybe if I didn't like it the first time, I started to like it later.
It became an acquired taste.
Kind of like zucchini for me became an acquired taste.
Coffee became an acquired taste.
I used to hate coffee.
You guys know.
You seem like the girl who secretly likes to party.
No, definitely not.
I prefer to be like at home on my couch with my friends. eating food.
I try to actually go out more because I feel like I've like gotten too comfortable and I've just been at home way too much recently.
You don't plan on living in New York City forever.
You never really know.
Honestly, I feel like that's what I've learned as I've gotten older.
Things that you never expected would happen.
Happen, but I don't think I'll be in the city when I'm older.
The city is too overstimulating for you.
It definitely can get stimulating.
That's why I'm happier where I am now.
I'm in like a less crazy busy part of manhattan versus before i lived like right in the madness in soho now it's definitely a lot better and like more manageable for me but for a bit there when i lived in soho yeah that you got straight a's in college i forgot what i didn't get straight a's i think i got like mostly a's maybe like one or two b's in there i didn't get straight a's in high school i was like really particular about getting all A's, no A minuses, like all honors classes.
In college, I actually tried not to go in with that approach.
I just tried my best without like overstressing about straight A's, and I was like a lot happier that way.
So definitely still like a very good GPA.
I was very happy with it, but I wasn't too strict like I was in high school, which I'm happy about.
Thanks guys for assuming things about me.
This was pretty fun.
I just like wanted to sit down with you guys and chat.
I love you.
I hope you have a great night or day whenever you're watching.
I'll see you in my next video.
Bye.
