Quarterly Reset: Reflecting on Q1 Goals and Setting Intentions for Spring

As the first quarter of 2026 draws to a close, it serves as a natural checkpoint for personal reflection and recalibration. This quarterly reset is not just about productivity; it is a holistic approach to getting one's life together, focusing on routine, healthy habits, and self-care. By auditing past performance and setting new, intentional goals, we can navigate the year with greater clarity.

Reviewing the First Quarter: Achievements and Lessons

The author emphasizes the power of "anchor habits"—small, consistent actions that stabilize the rest of one's routine. The primary goal for early 2026 was to journal consistently. Having moved past the phase where journaling required a "conscious effort," it has now become "second nature." This success highlights how habit-stacking can simplify personal growth.

However, the quarter also brought challenges. The goal to incorporate short-form content into the overall "content workflow" was met with mixed results. The author admits that the relationship with content creation felt "rocky" due to the pressure of high expectations and the difficulty of maintaining consistent uploads. Additionally, the goal of reading two personal finance books to improve "financial literacy" was not achieved, as the author struggled to prioritize non-fiction over fiction during limited downtime.

Setting Intentions for the Next Quarter

Moving into the spring quarter, the author outlines three refined resolutions designed to foster a more balanced lifestyle:

  1. Financial Well-being: Maintaining the goal of reading personal finance literature while implementing automated savings. By setting up transfers to a TFSA and a first-home savings account on a "rolling basis," the author aims to remove the mental load of managing finances manually.
  2. Sustainable Content Creation: The focus is shifting toward developing a "healthy and sustainable content workflow." Acknowledging the burnout that comes with never-ending creative projects, the author aims to move away from last-minute editing and become more "mindful" of the production process.
  3. Prioritizing Hobbies Outside of Screen Time: Recognizing that content creation, while a career, often blurs the line between rest and work, the author is making a conscious effort to engage in hobbies that do not involve digital output. This includes returning to Spanish language learning.

The Role of Structured Learning and Self-Care

To facilitate the goal of finding hobbies outside of "screen time," the author highlights the value of structured learning through platforms like Lingoda. By engaging in live, interactive lessons with "certified native level teachers," the author gains an "objective" outside of school and work. This adds a layer of accountability, particularly through challenges like the "Sprint Challenge," which encourages consistency through incentives.

Finally, the reset underscores the importance of listening to one's body. Whether it is prioritizing sleep, attending Pilates classes to "structure the day," or recognizing when to take a night off to "recuperate," the author demonstrates that self-care is an essential component of a successful quarterly reset. By tidying up, managing tax documentation, and setting clear boundaries, the author creates a sustainable path forward for the upcoming months.
