  • Vitamin C: Contrary to popular belief, recent meta-analyses suggest that high-dose Vitamin C (6-8g) is likely ineffective for preventing or shortening colds, and the "placebo effect" may play a larger role than previously thought.
  • Zinc: There is strong evidence that zinc (90-100mg per day, taken with food to avoid gastric distress) can shorten the duration of a cold by up to three times.
