But for now, let's get on with the show.
Woo!
Well, then who's going to zip me up?
I don't know.
What's that beeping?
Oh, no, Reg.
Look at the time.
Uh, hurry, hurry.
Everyone in their sea creature costumes now.
Well, huh.
I'm ready, Mindy.
What's all the rush?
Guy Raz is going to be home any minute.
Huh.
He calls this shoebox a home?
Yeah, it's his microwave house or something, right?
For getting away and relaxing.
No, it's his micro house.
Oh.
Well, where's the microwave?
No, it's a tiny house.
There's no room for a microwave.
No microwave?
Then where am I going to go to relax?
I am so excited to surprise Guy Raz by turning his micro house into an aquarium.
When do we get to fill it with water, Mindy?
In just a sec, Dennis.
Well, hurry.
Wait, Dennis.
What?
Why is your fish costume covered in jelly?
And why is Reggie smothered in peanut butter?
Mindy, don't you get it?
No.
We're peanut butter and jellyfish.
Well, I'll be the judge of that.
Come here, pigeon.
No, don't do that.
Ugh, gross.
Grandma J-Force, stop licking Reggie.
That bird fish don't taste nutty enough.
Gee, Forrest, would you quit licking that bird and come over here?
You need to finish putting your octopus costume on.
What?
Your octopus costume.
I need to attach the suckers to your arms.
I'll attach the suckers to your arms, fingerling.
What's that?
I said I'll attach the suckers to your arms.
Oh, okay.
Wait, are you both dressing up like octopuses?
Yeah.
Yep.
Well, you can't do that.
Well, why not, Mandy?
Yeah.
Well, because octopuses are usually solitary cephalopods.
Huh?
Speak English.
Or Spanish.
Yeah, or Spanish.
Well, what I mean is that octopuses... Oh, which are cephalopods, right, Mindy?
Teacher's pet.
Right, Dennis.
Yes, octopuses are cephalopods, which usually hang out alone, not in groups or pairs.
Oh, okay, I see, I see.
And remember, these costumes have to be 100% accurate if the surprise for Guy Raz is going to work.
What?
Oh! so only G-Force or Tommy can be an octopus?
One of them needs to get voted off the island and be something else?
Yeah.
Well, looks like your time is up, G-Force.
Hush your mouth, fingerling.
I'm the octopus in this Debbie doll dream hut.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
And don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Yeah!
Oh, G-Force, what are you doing?
I said get to you!
Ha ha, missed me.
Ugh, Grandma G-Force, Thomas Fingerling.
There's no time for you to change costumes.
I guess...
I guess you can both be octopuses.
I guess.
No.
What about your costume, Mindy?
What about my costume?
Well, it looks like you're only half-dressed.
The top half of your body is a fish, but the bottom half is just regular human legs.
Oh, yeah.
Dennis, I'm what you would call a reverse mermaid.
I am, say.
Okay, Guy Raz is going to be here any second now.
Do we have the seaweed set up?
Yep, I dumped out all his potted plants and filled the pots with seaweed.
Great.
And how about the sand for the aquarium floor?
Grandma G-Force, I'm pretty sure that was your job.
Oh, well, I was just going to use this barrel of kitty litter I stole from your house.
Sweet.
Oh, the sleigh cats.
I almost forgot.
Reggie, could you get the door?
Here, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty.
They're not coming.
Ugh, come here, cats.
Oh, hi.
Why do all the kitties have handsome little mustaches, Mindy?
Because they're catfish.
Get it?
Catfish?
Oh, nice.
I taught them to swim.
And Dennis.
Did you bring Baby Dennis?
Yep, and look.
I dressed him up to look like a little shrimp.
I'm not a shrimp.
I'm a prawn.
Quiet, you baby.
Shrimp don't talk.
What is that?
Who brought a duck?
Relax, everyone.
It's just my Guyphone telling me that I have a message.
Oh, a message.
Hey, what you got there?
The Guyphone Max Pro or the Guyphone Ultra Titanium Plus?
No, but it is a message from Guy Raz.
Read it, Mindy.
Yeah, Mindy.
Read it aloud to the whole class.
OK, let me see what it says.
Hi, Mindy.
I can't hang out tonight.
Too tired.
Just going to go home to rest and relax.
See you tomorrow?
Well, good thing we're already at his home.
Yeah, and good thing his home is about to be turned into a surprise aquarium.
And good thing he's walking up right now.
Uh-oh.
Well, so much for the surprise.
No!
Baby Smith Dennis is sad.
Quick, Dennis, did you bring in the hose from his vegetable garden?
Sure did.
There we go.
Well, what are you waiting for, boy?
Yeah, fill her up.
Aye, aye, Captain.
That's some nice spraying, boy.
The big den is faster!
Okay!
Hi-yah!
Oh yeah, that's looking good.
Yay, it's working!
Kairos' micro house is looking like a giant aquarium!
He is going to love this!
I'm the luckiest guy in the world.
I'm the luckiest guy in the world.
I'm the... What in the... Is my micro house leaking?
Is there someone inside?
Isn't that a water mandate?
Nah, keep going, Dennis.
Are you sure?
It's getting pretty high.
You can never have too much water, Dennis.
What in the... This is amazing!
Keep going, Dennis, and as soon as the door opens, we're all going to scream, surprise!
Well, I think he'll be very surprised.
Why?
Oh, you mean on account of all the water and seaweed and kitty litter?
Yeah.
Indeed.
What is going on in my house?
He's at the door!
Voices, everyone!
Voices!
Baby Dennis is so excited!
Hello? suit covered in jelly!
I'm a jellyfish!
And Baby Shrimp Dendy says close the door!
I'm trying!
Oh no, the cats!
They're catfish!
We're gonna go!
My spay cats!
They got flushed out!
They'll be fine!
Catfish love the water!
How's that door coming, Guy Raz?
Mindy!
Surprise?
Mindy, what have you done to my micro house?
It's completely flooded.
Well, it was completely flooded until you let half the water out.
We took the liberty of turning your micro hut into an aquarium.
It was a true honor.
An aquarium?
Yeah.
Remember how last week you were at the aquarium downtown watching the fish swimming around in their tank and you said it looked like such a peaceful place to live.
I guess.
Well, I knew you'd never turn your own house into a fish tank, so I decided to surprise you and do it for you.
And baby shrimp got his help.
Yeah, me too.
I dumped cat litter all over your bed.
This is a disaster.
Oh, well then, Mandy made me do it.
Yeah, it was all Mandy's idea.
And I dumped cat litter on your bed either way.
Well, I'm sorry, but you're all going to have to go home.
What?
Why?
Because this is a solar-powered, environmentally-friendly micro-house built for one.
Rude.
Besides, according to a new scientific study I just read in the journal PLOS One, it's a bad idea to have two octopuses in the same small space at the same time.
Yeah, Fingerling.
Who, me?
See, I told you two that octopuses were solitary creatures and didn't live in pairs or groups.
Well, I'll just kick Fingerling out with my octopus foot.
Now, which foot's my kicking foot?
They're not feet, G-Force.
They're tentacles.
Oh, actually, they're not tentacles.
Everyone just thinks that they are.
Squid and cuttlefish have tentacles.
Octopuses have eight appendages, two legs, and six arms.
Whatever.
Well, if you try to kick me with one of your appendages, I'm just going to pull it off and use it to bop you in the head.
Like this.
Yeah.
Sorry.
Why, I don't know.
Uh-oh.
Take that.
And how about a scoop of booze?
Wow.
T-Force, quit it.
Oh, drama.
Reggie, pass me that bag of popcorn.
Of course.
Ew, it's all soggy.
Let it go.
Ow.
Stop it, says I. See?
This is exactly what a team of researchers from the University of Sydney in Australia discovered.
What?
Yeah, it's what they discovered when they studied octopus dens in the Jervis Bay off the coast of New South Wales.
They discovered a pair of octopuses whacking each other, with pool noodles duct taped to their bodies.
Well, sort of.
Wait, really?
Would you quit it?
No!
I'll buy that nugget!
G-Force!
Ah!
Grandma G-Force, come as quickly!
Would you two knock it off already?
Sorry, Mandy.
Okay, that was the last one.
Sorry, Guy Raz.
You were saying something about researchers studying octopus dens in Australia?
Yeah, a team of researchers set up hidden cameras inside a couple of octopus dens.
Wait, octopus dens?
Yeah, so in Jervis Bay there are octopus dens, and octopus dens are small holes or crevices in rocks and in coral.
Huh.
And they're not very big, but they are the perfect spots for octopuses to relax and eat and find shelter.
Oh, kind of just like your tiny house here, guy.
Exactly.
Which is exactly why Mindy and I come here all the time to hang out, relax and eat your food when you're not home.
Dennis!
What?
Yeah, I've noticed.
And now your tiny house is an aquarium, which makes it way more like an octopus den.
Well, it was never supposed to be an aquarium, but yeah, I guess.
In any case, the dens in this study were a pair of neighboring dens called Octopolis and Octolantis.
So, Guy Raz...
Besides chilling and eating, what else do these octopuses do in these dens?
Well, according to what these researchers discovered from the 21 hours of video footage, they fight.
Hey, kind of just like us, G-Force.
Hush, fingerling, I'm trying to hear the story.
Ah, quit it.
Wait, they fight?
Just like these two?
Well yeah, and what these researchers discovered was that when octopuses or, in this case, a species known as the gloomy octopus, are together in tight spaces like these little octopus dens well, they poke each other.
Yeah, don't say.
Ouch.
And prod each other.
Oh, quit prodding me, fingerling.
And they annoy each other.
J-Force, quit looking at me like that.
Well, I'll look at you however I want.
And sometimes they, uh... Yes?
Well, uh, sometimes, um, they'll even throw things at each other.
What?
They throw things?
What the...
Gee, Flores, don't throw the kitchen sink at me.
I was throwing it to you, fingerling.
Not throwing it at you.
Besides, that wasn't the sink.
That was the tiny house toilet.
It's both.
Oh, it is?
That's weird.
Everything in this house serves at least two purposes.
It's efficient.
Grandma G-Force and Thomas Fingerling you can't go ripping things off the walls and throwing them at each other like a couple of gloomy octopuses.
Well, that's what we are.
Yeah, we're gloomy octopuses.
Yeah.
And Mindy, you can't go and flood people's microhouses.
Kairos, I...
I didn't flood your microhouse.
I turned it into an aquarium to surprise you.
Wow, I really thought you'd be more appreciative.
Mindy!
Good point, Reggie.
Can we please get back to the story of the octopuses that throw stuff at each other?
Yeah, let's get back to story time.
Yeah, tell us how to be gloomy octopuses, Mr. Ozzie.
Oh, right, so...
What these researchers discovered was that when one of these otherwise solitary octopuses is in a cramped den with another octopus well, one octopus might start to feel provoked.
Oh, yeah.
I'm feeling provoked.
Finger length.
And when that octopus feels provoked, it cramps, begins to gather silt and sand from the sea floor and hide it under its body.
Oh, where's that kitty litter?
It's over there.
Thank you.
And then, when the provoked octopus is ready to fire, pow!
It uses its special swimming organ to thrust all of that sand and silt forward, using the water like jets in a hot tub.
Like this?
Tommy!
You threw glitter in my eye finger leg.
I can't see now.
Oh, whoops.
Now help me get it out.
Okay, okay, okay.
Hey, fella, hand me that there hose.
Oh, good idea.
No!
Here you go, Tommy.
Here's the hose.
Yay!
Okay, now stay still, G-Force.
Let me wash that kitty litter out of your eyes.
Nice and easy now.
And... It's a sprain everywhere!
I can't control it!
Baby Dennis.
I got it.
Swim, swim, swim, swim.
Turning the water off.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Everyone good?
Yes.
No.
What's wrong, Big Guy Ross?
My house.
My beautiful, sustainable micro house. for this octopus story of yours, Guy Raz?
Well, it is.
Yeah!
Mindy, what is that sound?
I don't know.
Don't worry, Mr. Razzy.
That's just the sound of the walls of your house beginning to fail.
Huh.
What?
Well, you see, the weight of all this water is pushing on the walls of your house.
It's an aquarium.
Oh, right.
Sorry.
Pushing on the walls of your aquarium, and the whole thing is about to collapse.
So it's the sound that the party is over.
Yep.
Just about.
Oh, no!
OK.
All right.
My house.
My beautiful, sustainable, solar-powered micro-house built for one.
It's ruined.
Well, I guess it just wasn't big enough for two battling octopuses.
Octopuses?
Mindy, it wasn't made to be filled with water.
But we did learn a valuable lesson, Guy.
About what?
Octopuses!
Uh, G-Force?
What?
I'm sorry for throwing cat litter in your face.
I went too far being that gloomy octopus.
And I'm sorry too, Fingerling.
For what?
For nothing!
Now get over here and let me give you a hug.
I thought you were gonna get swept away in the flood.
Aw, G-Force.
Oh, fingerling.
Well, Guy, looks like you've got the worst of both worlds now.
No micro house and no aquarium.
Don't remind me.
But what you do have are friendships that are stronger than both of those things.
Yeah!
And if there's one thing we're good at, Guy Raz, it's two things.
Yeah! accidentally destroying everything and building it back even better than before!
Yeah!
Oh no, you've helped enough!
No, no, no!
Now let's get to work, everyone!
We've got a micro-mansion to build!
A what?
A micro-mansion!
It's like a micro-house, but a mansion so we can all fit inside!
Hooray!
The plans are all in my head.
It's even going to include a four-story aquarium for your new pet octopuses.
Pet octopuses?
Yeah!
But... Reggie!
Get my adventure toolkit!
Okay, we're going to need a hammer nails cats, a screwdriver, a mini chainsaw, a laser-guided glue gun Oh, and baby Dennis.
You're made out of wood!
We can use you for lumber!
Oh, boy!
Wait!
No!
Well, it sounds to me like you got it all taken care of.
I'm going home.
DeForest, you get back here and help rebuild Mr. Rozzy's aquarium microhouse.
No.
Yes.
No.
I said yes.
I said do it yourself, bangerling.
DeForest!
