📋 Summary

The Haunting Encounters of the Unknown

This episode of the podcast presents three harrowing stories rooted in the unexplained, ranging from rural encounters with the supernatural to a maritime curse that claimed dozens of lives.

1. Face: The Highway Apparition

In 2004, near Live Oak, Florida, 16-year-old Misty Tasker and her mother encountered a deeply disturbing phenomenon while driving home at night on a desolate, unlit highway. Misty spotted a young girl sitting on the side of the road, rocking back and forth with her knees tucked to her chest. Despite the mother’s initial hesitation and anxiety, they turned around to offer help. After driving past the girl, they found her missing. Moments later, they encountered the exact same figure sitting at a four-way intersection miles away. When the mother finally stopped to confront the girl, she recoiled in horror, screaming that the figure had no face—it was "hollow." The encounter left them terrified, and the police later found no trace of any such person in the area.

2. Just Teeth: A Gruesome Farm Discovery

In September 2012, Terry Garner, a devoted 69-year-old farmer in rural Oregon, met a tragic and grizzly end. Terry was known for his deep affection for his animals, particularly his pigs, which he fed until they reached enormous sizes. When a family member went to check on him after he failed to return calls, they discovered that Terry had vanished. The only remnants of the farmer found in the pig pen were his "false teeth grinning back" at the witness, along with scattered pieces of his clothing and body. Officials were never able to determine if Terry suffered a medical event prior to the attack or if he was alive when his beloved animals began to consume him.

3. Hell on High Water: The Curse of the Perrier

The final story details the maritime legend of the Russian steamboat Perrier. According to sailor Nels Nelson, the ship harbored a "dark secret" referred to as "The Thing." Whenever a warm breeze would sweep across the deck in freezing temperatures, the entire crew—save for those who knew the secret—would succumb to uncontrollable, collective screaming and madness. This phenomenon, which allegedly began after an officer committed a murder in Mumbai, compelled sailors to gallop on all fours and leap into the ocean to their deaths. Over several years, "The Thing" claimed 23 lives, including 20 sailors who drowned and three captains who committed suicide. The ship was eventually abandoned in Santa Monica, never to sail commercially again, leaving behind a legacy of inexplicable horror.
